Very much interested in the Matchbox cars (as that was what I collected back in the late 1960's, early 1970's), and I'm so glad to see you giving them their just dues. Thank you so much brother for sharing this look at these historic die-cast models!!
Nice collection of vintage 1964 and 1965 matchbox. Always cool to find those at flea market or thrift shop. I have a full box of vintage mbx of this era in my workshop. All in played / destroyed condition.
I have always loved Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Majorette, Tomica, Corgi etc I am 13 I remember finding you at the age of 5 you brought back so many memories of my childhood ❤️
The first matchbox casting came out in 1953 & the first catalogue was 1955 & though i collected matchbox & majorette/ corgi from the mid 70s i always liked the pre 70s castings more & have managed to get a decent collection together. Fantastic video as usual & look forward to the next ones .🤘
58:18 that price now would be $4.98. so you can see how hard they have to work to keep that price point viable. also that's wild that you bought and got ahold of the distro catalog, those are rare and hard to find. normally the catalogs you see are the retail ones everyone got
Now you have my attention 😮, love me some ventage Matchbox!! That catalog is a great tool !! Congratulations on finding 1. Looking forward to the next episode. Thanks for All you do for the die-cast community! ✌️
As awesome as your Hot Wheels collection is and I do enjoy seeing, these are fantastic. The older the Matchbox cars are the better they get, these are my absolute favorite to collect. I just rescued a Quarry truck last week from the flea market, It's missing some paint, but I just cannot help myself. Totally enjoyed this brother looking forward to the next episode.
These are the toys that Baby Boomers and gen-X played with. My father would let my brothers and I play with firecrackers when we were growing up. We would take our little cars and ram firecrackers through the windows to BLOW them up.
Wow! very nice 1964 matchbox collection Canada man I have a nice 1959 matchbox not played with vehicles collection.I bought ten years ago from a collector that passed away family.I mostly have a huge hot wheels collection then, the other brand of diecast.I'm sending you full peg vibes as serious diecast collectors, I've been collecting for 46 years so far Canada man.I also share your videos with my collector friends to become your, channel subs evenly great video too take care Canada man hope you upload more videos tak care!
I grew up with both the Lesney matchbox cars and the HotWheels redline cars. The Matchbox cars of the mid and late 60's were for us kids who wanted realistic looking vehicles that we could create real world scenes with outside in the dirt under the tree. Roads were often made with cut down putty knives and we used the car carriers as buildings. The HotWheels on the other hand were for those kids who wanted to race them on the orange tracks. They often had "Garish" colors and the wheels of course were not realistic at all. So we usually snubbed those cars when making cities under the tree. We preferred the true Matchbox cars that looked much more similar to the cars we saw everyday. So yea there were 2 separate groups. I'm not saying one is better than the other but it's just the way it was at least where I grew up in Iowa.
Cool models, I was born in 1964. I am more familiar with the Matchbox cars around 1969 and 1970 when I was 5 or 6 and the Matchbox cars transitioned to Superfast. Thames is pronounced /temz/ like the river.
Matchbox just changed the model in the 75 series as the shop keeper wouldn't of been able to have the room if they just carried on with the numbers , so they kept it at 75 . That's why you have a 62 a, 62 b 62 c ect.
still hoarding and collection good collection none the less my granpa left me his whole matchbox collection when he passed hell i built a glass display case for erm then i got my main table top layout
I'm so sorry this is a hotwheels question all the loose hws I have how do I find out what they are when there is no name underneath can u please help me thanks
Hey, Owen, it's Jacub.. idk if you remember me. But i sent you a couple of packages before. I was wondering if i could ask you a question. How am i able to contact you?
That is not the proper catalogue. If you check the catalogue by Charlie mack,(2nd edition)there you will find wherever you need about matchbox . So they didn't change the vehicle and keep the number, Letter on they just kept the model after 70' but change the wheels to superfast. Not all of them. Is nice you save that playing models. Behind those models is a great story. I try to save as many i can find. Find 2nd edition 1953-1969 And you will have your answer about the regular wheels matchbox and if you like more info about buy 4th edition 1947-2001 also from Charlie mack. All the best from Uk
Matchbox from the Lesney era doesn't get enough attention from modern day collectors. Glad to see it coming from you.
Amazing stuff

50s models are usually the ones that are smaller, and just say “Lesney”, or “Lesney England”. Most do not have collector numbers on said car.

The problem is,really difficult to find that door. Almost always missing.
