Sesame Street was on plenty of lsd and other things back then to, when they took psychedelics out of children's television, stuff got mediocre and shallow fast
One of my favorite Banana Splits songs! I'd love to see a "proper" CD release of all their songs. There was a CD some years ago, a "twofer" with "The Beagles", but I believe the entire thing was mastered impropoerly, the SPEED was "off", as everything sounded to me like it was runnning TOO FAST.
I love this that I remember the Banana splits is such a comfort. One of the biggest influences in my life is the banana splits. They were great at a time when I needed them.
You can say what you want about the Banana Splits, the studio musicians involved were amazing, including Frank Zappas lead singer later in 1973 Ricky Lancelotti.
One Direction: **exists** Banana Splits: psh, we’re already four directions right here! See? One banana.. two banana.. three banana.. and there’s four! That makes a bunch, and so will many more!
For those who don't know-The Banana Splits show was released on DVD in 2007 in the UK ONLY (Region 2). It generally won't play in your average DVD player-but there are ways(if you have a dvd burner on your computer you can get DVD ripping software that can remove the codes). Also-these are the syndicated half hour versions of the season 1 episodes-as this is how the show was seen in the UK. Warner Brothers "supposedly" is having issues recreating the original hour long version of the show as the master elements are not in the best of shape and, with the demise of DVD sales, it's unlikely to happen. There are some clips of Season 2 on youtube. I don't know where they came from, but they mostly look and sound great. Enjoy them while you can. No doubt someone will take them down.
I have an old Venturer brand portable player that I once looked up, and found a way to unlock all regions on it. You never know what kind of little secrets some companies will stash on their stuff.
LOOKS LIKE at 1:20 they went high tech digital or at least pretended to, where that goofy guy and then the ape guy are repeated 3 times each on the same screen as if they invented that digital special effect in 1969. I guess they did or at least they predicted this digital special effect decades ahead of time.
Completement hallucines, les meck les plus deglingues des series pour enfants....je me souviens de les avoir vus gamin sur la tele francaise....ils n'y sont pas reste longtemps, mais quel delir..je suis dingues des Banana Split !!!!!
Listen to this and "Wait Til Tomorrow" and THEN try telling me that the Banana Splits was just another '60s kids' show. I won't believe a word you say.
Is this song about that Banana Split guy in an ape costume talking to his girlfriend and saying, "Gonna find a cave where you and I can hide, far away on a hill, if I want I could pull you by the hair, gonna find a cave where we'll be free".
THE BANANA SPLITS was orignally an hour long show from when it aired on Saturday morning tv for two seasons 1968-70 and it was the BANANA SPLITS ADVENTURE HOUR. Why is it that when the SPLITS went into syndication it was reduced to a half an hour show?
It was also combined with 4 other short lived H-B series. The Atom Ant show,The Secret Squirrel show, The New Adventures of Gulliver, and the New Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
You can get season 1 on DVD in R2 and R4 regions. But not R1. You need a multi-zone world wide player to play R2 and R4 DVD's in a R1 region. I live in Australia and we use R4.
WOWAMUNDO ⚠❗❕.... Psychadelic Times Indeed 😱😲😨 & 20 years b4 the Acid House & Techno days of 1989 which I very fondly remember 😎 Was only 3 yo in 1969.
He looks a lot better here than he does in the recent remake, although you could argue that the current guy would do a better job playing keyboard in the updated costume
I guess it is much easier to show half hour programs than hour programs. And you can spread out 36 30-minute shows much longer than 18 1-hour programs on TV. On DVD, this does not matter. I watched the 36 30-minute shows on DVD over 6 viewing nights with 6 30-minute episodes per viewing night. It would of been simply 6 viewing nights of 3 1-hour episodes instead. Back in the 1970's there was no DVD's around!
The greatest rock band of all time.
THE ROLLING STONES
Are we a joke to you.
@@davidwesley2525 your a joke
Right up there with the Evolution Revolution.
@@davidwesley2525by the way this song is kinda rolling stones
Gen X from '72 here. I 1st watched the show syndicated on WDCA Ch 20 in DC, worth it.
To this day,
The Banana Splits are trying to find a cave.
I have 17 years and i have to be honest, I have envy of all those who were born at the time of the 1960's, this is just great
Sesame Street on LSD!
Sesame Street was on plenty of lsd and other things back then to, when they took psychedelics out of children's television, stuff got mediocre and shallow fast
It’s better than Sesame Street sometimes tbh
@@tempolynnrealofficial to be honest, you won’t find Elmo threatening to roll a group of people into a basket ball. This show is superior
No, it's Hanna barbera on drugs

Henry Kujawa I would love to a cd saw the premier of this show back in 60s
It was intentional I was there
Ah the psychedelic TV wonderlands of my childhood!I miss the Splits!Who performed their songs?Damn I wish I still had the records!
I don't know but it was probable THE WRECKING CREW.
The singer is Ricky Lancelotti, he did some work with Frank Zappa.
More Fuzz in the guitar, than a peach orchard! LOVE IT!!!!
I love this that I remember the Banana splits is such a comfort. One of the biggest influences in my life is the banana splits. They were great at a time when I needed them.
Loved this when I was five years old back in sixties. The banana splits just freaked me out man.
they are cool!
Back in 69 I had this song in my head for weeks now its back ! Best of their songs
You can say what you want about the Banana Splits, the studio musicians involved were amazing, including Frank Zappas lead singer later in 1973 Ricky Lancelotti.

TOTALLY AWESOME !!!
THIS OLD GAL STILL LOVE'S YOU !!!
This guys voice is phenomenal
Man I love this TV show
That Vox teardrop guitar -- what Drooper is seen playing -- was famous as being Brian Jones's favorite guitar from 1965 until 1968.
Uh oh guys, here come the Sour Grapes Bunch!!
They sent their messenger girl, Charlie!
What’s the message, Charlie?
I used love this show when i was litlle.
That fuzz tone is sick!
Still a better band then One Direction.
That doesn't take much!
But they come in a close second place to Lance a lot link & the Evelution Revolution

An actual pop/soul song that came out in early 66 by Charlie Starr written by Jimmy Radcliffe and sung by the AMAZING Ricky Lancelot! (Frank Zappa)
That was a badass old school song. I can dig it
I wish these songs were available on I Tunes. Such excellent tunes!
I wonder if I'm still a member of The Banana Splits fan club? 🤔
Artemisia Absinthium@ I am but I hate the movie
The Godzilla Fan 2020 oh I'm right there with ya
Definitely, my friend. Once a Banana Split, always a Banana Split. :D
I had their lunchbox, I loved this show so much!😌
People like Barry White, Al Kooper, Gene Pitney & Jimmy Radcliffe wrote these songs! Pretty Rough Rock & Soul music...for a kids show!
Pitney and Kooper are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Hopefully one day Barry White also will be in.
This song was in the Turner print of the 1st 1968 episode of this show.
Brilliant pop song for a kids TV show 👍👍
this song is really good
We would happily open for the Banana Splits any day!
Far out!!! Thank you for posting this - I always loved watching The Banana Splits when I was a kid.
Bingo is my biggest influence on drums !!!! Bloody brilliant !!!

Great Garage song. Love the fuzz!
'68 Was the year The Banana Splits toured with the Grateful Dead. Also rumor has it that they played Woodstock in '69
Wait till tomorrow and this are by far the greatest find ever
Love it. So funky.
Ten years - can’t believe I made this comment ten years ago
Stoner rock for kids back in 69 and the early 70s. Sleep should cover this.

this year marked a very different new era for children's shows, and here is a prime example
I remember when I was a kid, I use to watch the Banana Splits and thought I was the hippest kid in the world.
Ricky Lancelotti ruled, great vocals, RIP. Ricky Lancelotti passed away on April 7, 1980. from a traffic accident
That's exactly why I'm here! I've just read on Charles Ulrich Zappa book "The Big Note" that Ricky sung this one and "the banana split" too...
The Banana Splits belong in the hall of fame.
Excellent groupe !!!!! 💯🎶♥️💜❤️
A mix of Animals and the Doors 😉 😎 🎸
Vocals by Ricky Lancelotti (RIP), who would later work with Frank Zappa(Overnite Sensation LP)
Snorkys head became tranceparent
In “the cave” at six flags, there were these “spees”, these funny anteater-aliens that remind me of greedo. I just read about them online.
I want to be in this band
A great example of classic 60's Fuzzzz guitar tone, cool.
Far out. Heavy and Groovy Babe. I Dig it!
love this...
Snorky dropped too much acid I think.
but ya know those folks were really there..they were really there and doing that! ... it was for real, yo.. it happens - real stuff happens
that was his way of getting even with Fleagle, Bingo and Drooper for being so mean to him.

Pretty heavy psych for kids. The kids today don't know what they are missing.
Check out the version shot at 6 Flags, Texas!
I hope we get a Banana Splits revival someday, one to restore their good names after being villains in that terrible movie and Jellystone
