    I just realized that I forgot to link XenesisXenon's video about the unused Cruiser Animation for Black Hole Rising. Sorry folks.
    The link to both the video, as well as their channel has been added to the description, and you can also use the links in this comment.

    P.S. Folks, I've heard your complaints about the terrible audio issues in this video, I sadly can't fix the video, unless I remake the video from the ground up due to the file already being corrupted, but I promise you that the videos following this one will have better audio quality.

      i don't like the glasses sonja had honestly.

    Your voice and the background music are at almost the same volume, so it has been difficult to get what you were saying

    I do have to agree overall; it's a rare case where character design changes *work* more then the original. Even Sonja's change from red to green when you consider that her main gimmick is being better in Fog of War. You know; where stealth matters.

      At least Re-Boot Camp gave her the glasses from her original design.

    You forgot to mention the japanese & english intro of AW2's differences

    Weird that localisation made Kanbei worse. He was a samurai in the OG japanese game and localasation turned him into an Imperial Japan officer. This is like the opposite of cencorship xD

      I mean, the rest of Comet are based on WWII Japan anyway...

    it's actually pretty funny that in the non-japanese version of AW it says that Drake is an Ex-Pirate; so it's a neat call back to that.

    3:37. This is just my theory, but I'm pretty sure that Eagle with the motorcycle is supposed to be a reference to Maverick from Top Gun.

    Nice video, this is one of the few cases where changes between regions aren't censorship, at least most of them, and are just changes to keep a more consistent theme, I agree, I don't understand why Sonja doesn't have glasses...
    In any case, I recommend checking your audio balance before uploading your videos, the background music made it very hard to distinguish your voice from the music!

    But Flak was right, the bombers are also indirect combat units, in the switch version they can attack from distance (hail to the bugs)

    "shogun" is Japanese for "general"
    Also Days of Ruin is localised as "Dark Conflict" in the UK/Europe. It also has different character names than the US and Japanese versions.

  • @minimalbstolerance8113
    @minimalbstolerance8113 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I'm a bit surprised that you said there weren't many changes to Days of Ruin. I think the only character in it who didn't have a different name between the US and UK version was Cyrus. A couple of the superweapons had their names changed as well (the Great Owl flying fortress, for instance, was named the Pulsatrix in the UK version) and the entire game was renamed to "Dark Conflict" in the UK.

    in AW2 you can see "CATHERINES REPORT" and not to mention the fan translation in super/famicom wars has Nell as "caroline" but i Figure not every fan translation is perfect, so i put 2 and 2 together who Catherine was.

    • @DrewPicklesTheDark
      @DrewPicklesTheDark ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Catherine/Nell and Caroline are separate characters, if you play SFCW and the JP version of AW they have different Kana. Catherine (キャサリン) was just _heavily_ (to the point of nearly being a clone) inspired by Caroline (キャロライン). I remember losing an online argument about this back in the 2000s lol. Also love the user name, not sure how the localization team missed Lachesis.
      The only potential direct tie other than the nation names is the implication Sensei is Mr. Yamamoto, but that would be cool if they did more to tie things together like say Billy Gates is Collin and Sasha's father or something.

      @CallofDutyBlackOps28 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DrewPicklesTheDark what i've noticed, even good foreign speakers of Japanese tend to get R's, L's P's and B's mixed up alot, which tends to be a big issue and why Lachesis and Arvis got mixed up.

    I'm pretty sure that Sturm's Japanese name is supposed to be "Herr Böse", German for Sir or Mister Evil. But this is hard to write in Japanese. Same goes for Von Bolt. His Name is supposed to be "Herr Volt", meaning Sir or Mister Volt.

    Wait, what? Grit didn't have the cowboy hat in the European release? My memory tells me he still had the hat but then I remember the picture with the other hat too.

  • @alex_zetsu
    @alex_zetsu ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Honestly, I think the changes for Nell and Drake were better for the international version even though I'm often a purist and complain when localizers think something is too Japanese and need to replace it

  • @trashaimgamer7822
    @trashaimgamer7822 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    There really isn't such a thing as a "European" version. There's a UK version, a Spanish version, a French version, a Portugiese version and a German version. Each with their own translations and name changes.
    For example in the German version Sami is called "Tami".

  • @GELTONZ
    @GELTONZ ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Huh? I was under the impression that Days of Ruin had a completely different, more accurate, translation in Europe. Maybe I heard wrong.

    • @negimeister484
      @negimeister484 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure about accuracy, but CO and unit names, dialog and pretty much everything is different. Oh, and the fact that it has a different title....
      Really don't get why he completely skipped the one game that had the most changes of all

    Isn't Advance Wars 1 a sequel to Famicom Wars and Gameboy Wars; a series that has appeared on Famicom, Super Famicom, and Gameboy in Japan prior to GameBoy Advance?
    Famicom Wars has one entry (excluding remasters\
    emakes\\ports) and Gameboy Wars has three (also excluding remasters\
    emakes\\ports) , which makes Advance Wars 1 the fifth game in the series.
    A side note; the latter two entries are on the DS (you did mention Dual Strike, the third AW title), and thus are unlikely to be remastered for single-screen platforms…
    There's also the Battallion Wars spin-off on GameCube and Wii that were released between AW2:BHR and AW:DS.

    Is hard to listen to you when yhe music is louder than your voice. A recommendation for future videos is to simply tone down music down to 30-50%

    A little bit difficult to understand what you were saying at times with the music and your voice being at the same volume at times plus you seemed a bit rushed in parts which didn't help much.
