"zoji-RUSHY". I love you guys in Canada! But you talk funny. Personally, I used both and they're both good. But, I like the Tiger a little better. It has a dechlorinate function that keeps the water from getting scummy.

should get the undersink RO water filtration system and use that water with these type of water boiler ,,,I've been using Zojirushi boiler with my RO water system for 13 years....a water boiler was used for 13 years ...now it's showing aging ..suddenly stopped working last night and working again this morning...time for me to get a new one !! 13 years!! that's how reliable/durable Japan-made water boiler is !!

Can I put roasted barley seeds directly in the water boiler and constantly dispense barley tea? Or would that break the machine mechanically when dispensing the hot water?

I had the Tiger and the coating inside started to go off and get rusty after using for 1 year. Kinda disappointed with the quality. Not sure if Zojirushi does the same or not

Mine did the same but it happened after 7-years.

Not really a fair way to test the water temp. The water will lose a lot of heat streaming out so far, then will lose more as the glass of the measuring cup sucks heat out of the water. And the steam you see is literally heat coming out of the water. You would have gotten a higher temp reading holding the cup closer to the dispenser and also filling it up much higher. For an even higher reading than that, you could use a styrofoam cup or a thermos (or paper cup) instead of glass. But the truly fair test would be to insert the thermometer probe directly into the water in the tank.

Is it a thermos as well? I mean if it is disconnected, how long will the water be hot?

It not designed to use as a thermos, in other words, just unplug it, take it in your car, and use it at a picnic. It would definitely leak out the lid during transport and there no pour spout if you wanted to tilt the unit and pour the water out the side it's not easy. That said, and I don't know degree per minute, however it retains heat pretty well. I've unplugged it at night the day before I'll empty and clean it, forgot to leave the lid up and 7 hours later it is still warm enough that I don't want to clean it until I've left the lid opened for another hour or two. You will have to plug it back in to dispense the water through the spout.

The internal pot that holds the water in these water boilers are coated with something (teflon?), and it will chip off with use (opening and closing the top, repeated washes) and the metal beneath the coating will rust. Terrible design for a water holder to rust when touching water.

It’s why I’m leery to buy one. The teflon coating is a major turn off.

LOL, Japanese pronunciation is Zo-ji-rooshi...the Japanese u sound==the "oo" sound as in moon.

Yes, it was a bit annoying hearing the mispronunciation of Zojirushi.

Yes. Very strident to hear the horrid mispronunciation. Ugh. Embarrassing and so vexing that there’s Americans who don’t know such basics. 😑 😣
