  • Tami Simon, Sounds True founder and CeO, sits with Daniel J. Siegel, MD, clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine, founding codirector of the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA, and author of "The Mindful Brain" and "Parenting from the Inside Out," for an enlightening conversation. His latest book, and where they start their conversation, is "Intraconnected: MWE (Me + We) as the Integration of Self, Identity, and Belonging.

Sounds True was founded in 1985 by Tami Simon with a clear mission: to disseminate spiritual wisdom. Since starting out as a project with one woman and her tape recorder, we have grown into a multimedia publishing company with more than 80 employees, a library of more than 1500 titles featuring some of the leading teachers and visionaries of our time, and an ever-expanding family of customers from across the world. In more than three decades of growth, change, and evolution, Sounds True has maintained its focus on its overriding purpose, as summed up in our Mission Statement.

1:14:47 I am so honored to receive these teachings that are part of this great New Earth. So many of us are receiving teachings that expand our awareness of self and other. Thank you Dan Siegel for your work and devotion to evolution ❤❤

I am deeply touched by this conversation. I am a human trying to become aligned with my soul. Intraconected ha…technology doesn’t compute the word. trying to auto-correct Dan’s word. He hit the nail on the head. Is it that those that do not understand the depth of this conversation including me.
But what Dan is sharing here is like a Godsend to me. I experience life as an extraordinarily empathetic person that senses, feels deeply but feels terrifyingly estranged from our species. It’s alot to take in and too much to explain here. Even I am trying to understand the wholeness of it all. But I’ve experienced the dissolution (illusion) of the assumption of what life as “we” know it is. It’s deep…to my core, this knowing that Dan is speaking about.
I have struggled to understand my place in this troubled, yet awesome world we inhabit.
Thank-you for bringing this to light as I have struggled to feel like I belong to this world for as long as I can remember.

There are no words to describe my gratitude to the energy expressing as Dr. Dan and the inspiring contribution being brought forth, in offering and in linkage. As I am being greeking, and in contemplation, having watched this inspiring video, searched for any existing greek word describing the meaning of intraconnection and came up with the etymology of the word I AM which in greek is “yparcho” and etymologically is explained as “ I come from the Law” which interestingly points to the nature of intraconnectedness ,as etymologically describes being part and in connection with the Whole, (which is Universal Law). Ενδωαλληλουπάρχω- intraconnectedness❤🙏🏻

Feminist, professor of consciousness, and physicist Karen Barad introduced intraction as an alternative to the word interaction in her book Meeting the Universe Halfway 2009. Dan and Tami's conversation adds dimension and insight to my ongoing effort to overcome pervasive and embedded dualism.❤

It's a wonderful conversation and it's walking the talk. Daniel should meet Rupert Spira: they would be intraconnected immediately ! Trank you so much!

bravo… so fun ..certainly, the mwe journey unleashes the portals of potential … we are all wandering wayfinders now … ‘pervasive leadership’ is our current and collective dance … enjoy!

I had such a similar experience. I saw a vision of M and it was as if it was being touched and spinning around and became a W. And so ME became WE and they are intrachangeable. It’s a similar effect when reflected on water. ME is WE
From the same weekend retreat experience I too developed that affinity and connection with trees. They didn’t speak to me or ask for protection, but I got the feeling they wanted us to know we are them. They are us. And so there is no need for protecting other species outside of ourselves. When we look after trees we are simply taking care of our own health as a singular organism.

I loved his integration of individualism and collectivism into "mwe." They need not be at odds with each other.. indeed, it's a common opinion that God's very creation was driven by a desire to differentiate..to experience Itself.

there may not be anything that can be done through outward action. WE ARE on the cusp of a TRANSFORMATION where WE ARE going to know (not have to come to believe) the unity of ALL things. To think that we have the power to mess things up also leads to the belief that we can straighten things out which implies separation between us and things (life, situations, circumstances or the rest of it we preceive as observing outside of our self). WE ARE the movement of the COSMOS as is all other "things". WE ARE moving out the phase of illusionary separation that was part of The Movement of the Cosmos.
Our natural separate sense of self and separation will naturally dissolve as the Cosmos moves into this next phase. And as always we will be along for the ride probably without the thinking there is a separation by this "word" we have called self will or choice. Just like "Intraconnected" is a made up word so is self will or choice. All words are made up. WE may be moving into a era where concepts are not nearly as needed

I think the noun versus verb contrast is interesting, and I have played with it a little bit. I don't think it goes far enough though.
We assume that nouns are fixed and static things and verbs are actions and the two are in opposition. Yet our languages already create nouns from verbs and verbs from nouns, so suggesting that the threshold is arbitrary or porous is not ridiculous. What if we, instead, consider that nouns are slow or persistent actions / processes, and verbs are the more dynamic, faster actions / processes? The things that we consider as "things" do change - the word used to describe a thing may change, the thing itself changes. Nouns are still processes, they're just a slower flux.
With the relativistic physics that Dr. Siegel incorporates in his descriptions, the nouns are the energy processes with enough density to coalesce into matter as their motion in space-time is slowed by their mass (the process slows and matter emerges). Increased speed/mass causes resistance, the resistance slows the process, the slowed process is what we see as matter. Resistance against what? Well aside from processes we have potential, the potential to become a process, an actualisation. I, therefore, wonder if the quantum realm represents "potentia" or unrealised potentiality, the true medium of existence, and the collapse of the wave function is the coalescing from potential into actual, real, material. That is to say, it is resistance against unrealised potential that permits the existence of the actual.
