the insurance section in my application asked some details which threw me off balance and I was totally confused 🥲; I need to know what exactly they require so I don’t get bounced:
Here is what they said in the insurance section, ”Provide a valid European health insurance OR a provisional replacement certificate of European health insurance card, OR a health insurance certificate indicating an expiry date”. Now I can see the emphasis seems to be European and not even Luxembourgian health insurance, how do I go about this since am not in Europe or Luxembourg but primarily the last phrase in the write up is my main huddle or issue, which is …“, or a health insurance indicating an expiry date”
Does that mean any insurance indicating an expiry date, that is any insurance with an expiry date is acceptable, because there’s a health insurance policy for people traveling , which you pay for in Nigeria that covers health and is cheap, so I don’t know if this counts?
Cos in the first breath of the write up, they emphasized a lot on European insurance, and then the “,or Health Insurance Certificate Indicating an expiry date “following the earlier phrase is spinning my brain in different direction and giving me a lot of ideas , or method to go about it and am not sure if it’s correct and I don’t want to do something wrong and mess my admission.

Hello Nuel, please I have this question, my previous study was in chemistry but for the past 8yrs I have been in management, now I want to switch over to data science in my Msc please what is my success rate in getting admission, secondary if I choose 3 programs in my application, will the 50 Euro application fee cover for the three programs that I choose or I have to pay differently
Until you make an application you won't know your chances, as a general rule it is preferable to apply for a programme that you have the academic background to backup. However, if you have some professional experience or some background that is somehow in that area even though distantly then it is not a bad Idea to try. You can also increase your chances by writing your motivation statement excellently. Regarding the application fees, in my own understanding you will have to make the payment per application. Yes you can apply for three different programmes but the payment is per programme and not one payment for three applications, that is not my understanding of that because they are three separate application and courses so in principle the payments are also different. The standard requirement for a master's degree programme is a bachelor's degree certificate. So you may also consider a bachelor's degree programme for example in computer science at the University of Luxembourg.
I have a Bachelor of science in Microbiology in 2005 and Master of Science in Food Microbiology. I am applying for Integrated system biology. I just submitted my application and writing my motivation presently . How many pages of motivation letter and CV can I submit
Hi, it is not about how many pages but the quality of what you wrote and the contents of your CV. You should explain in specific and simple terms why you chose the programme while emphasising why your previous educational and professional experiences adequately equipped you for this programme. I did my second masters in Integrated Systems Biology, and they only accepted 16 that year. They will take only 18 applicants this year, so it s highly competitive. Unfortunately, meeting the essential requirement may not be enough. So this is why motivational statement and other skills acquired is highly crucial. Generally, what is required is a motivation letter; a recommendation letter seems optional except specified by the programme you applied for. Nevertheless, you can merge it with your CV and upload it if you like. Nuel

Concerning the Proof of fund, can I use an account statement and a sponsorship letter from someone in Europe?
If the person has been living in Luxembourg for at least one year, it may work, but not sure outside Luxembourg. The best way is to have it in your account. You may contact or email the Immigration Directorate for more.

Would like to ask, I'm currently doing my final year of Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology in India (but I'm a Zimbabwean citizen), and I want to pursue my International Master of Science in Biomedicine by the University of Luxembourg in the Winter term 2024. Is next year February the right time for me to start applying? Approximately how long does it take to receive admission responses from the university? Hoping to hear from you.
I don't know when you will graduate from your current bachelor's degree programme so I am not in the best position to tell you the best time to apply. What I can tell you is that you should have your certificate and transcripts of results ready by the time you want to make an online application. There is no standard time of response from the admission department, so many factors may affect their time of response, it could be in days but it can also take weeks so it is case by case basis. Next application for non EU nationals will open by Feb next year. Regards Nuel

Students who wish to change from one programme to another must have (1) applied for their preferred programme during the application period and (2) inform the study department within the first two weeks of the winter semester. This may not be possible during the summer semester. For more information, visit the University of Luxembourg's official website.

I have a question pls, during my application, the first stage was to fill out my personal details.
I got confused in the section of (Secondary Education) as follows, title of degree,rank,and grade scale, my question is does SSCE have grade scale,ranking and title of degree.
Same thing goes to higher Education which is very my understanding and easy to fill,thus I had problems calculating my Ects which I approximated to be 279 Ects because I studied a 5 years bachelor degree.
As for the secondary education, this areas I don't understand I filled " NA" because I don't know how to get the rank, grade scale and tittle of degree.. want you to guide me on that. Hi, WASSCE has ranking system, whether you have A1 or B3 etc. , there are percentage of mark that determines what grade, if you check the back of your WASSCE certificate you may find valuable information . If you take sometime and check WAEC website you may also find valuable information there. The ECTS [The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System is a standard means for comparing academic credits], If you check your transcripts you will see how your university graded your degrees and the ranking order they used. One thing that you should be aware is that you must apply for the recognition of your foreign high school certificate before making an online application. If you are applying for masters degree programme,you can go ahead and upload your simple copies of your documents. The recognition of your foreign diploma will only be needed after the faculty offers you an admission. Usually, insurance is needed during the application of your temporary authorisation to stay and not during admission process. I find it very strange that the programme you are applying demands an insurance, please read the process carefully and inquire from the department. Regards Nuel

You cannot know your chances until you try, so apply and ensure your motivation statement is robust and prepare a good CV using the EUROPASS format. Can you apply for all the 3 programs in different faculties. For instance, with Bachelor’s in Computer Science, can you apply for 1 program in Faculty of Science, Faculty of Humanities and Faculty of Economics?
You can apply for three programmes regardless of the faculties, but ensure you meet the minimum requirements.

Your question could be more precise. However, if the programme the person applied for involved a scholarship, the information on how to apply for it should be in the course description. Also, during the application, those that meet the criteria for specific scholarships will be notified with a link on how to make the scholarship application ( I made a video about these selected programmes with scholarships). Also after your graduation you are allowed to apply for work permit. In addition after residing in Luxembourg for a period of years you may be eligible for naturalisation (check my videos). More importantly while making an application make sure you chose a course where you have the necessary background.Applicaton usually opens from February to April for non EU nationals. Regards Nuel

Hi, what did you study? I did not understand what academic year you were talking about. Are you still in high school, or are you an undergraduate student?. I guessed that you are currently an undergraduate student; generally speaking, if you are currently doing your undergraduate programme, I will advise that you complete it and then apply for a master's degree in a similar at the University of Luxembourg. However, if you want to apply for a bachelor's degree in Computer Science [ PLEASE, next time, use the full name of the programme; not everyone will know what CS is; it could be anything ], you must understand that those applying for a bachelors degree programme must first apply for the recognition of their foreign high school certificate before making the online application because it is a mandatory requirement for considering the application at least based on my inquiry this year from the admission department. Also, since the application for NON-EU nationals will close by the end of this month (APRIL 2023), I don't know how you can meet up with that. All the best. Nuel

Hi thanks for your questions; here are the replies:
(1.) From the research I made on this, the account has to be your own or a family member's ( the family member in this regard is your parents, as stated by the Immigration Directorate Luxembourg). Please search for my video on the proof of funds for Luxembourg visa application on my TH-cam channel (Nuels Universe); I explained everything in detail with relevant links in that video. I also have several videos about studying, working and living in Luxembourg, so kindly check them out.
(2.) You are allowed to apply for three different programmes per applicant, but you need to pay the application fees separately if applicable. If you are applying for different programmes, it is only logical and reasonable that you modify the personal statement to suit the various programmes, so you may have to make some few modifications accordingly.
(3.) The site was recently upgraded and redesigned, and it is perfectly okay and works. See link below:

I have the option to choose a 3 semester program or one semester program. Which one will you recommend
Every applicant can apply for a maximum of 3 different programmes. It is upto you whether you want to apply for one or three programmes but bear in mind that the university of Luxembourg is highly competitive perhaps the more the programmes the better your chances of getting admission. Nevertheless , choosing three programmes is not a guarantee for admission because you must meet the requirements so ensure that you choose courses that have some correlation with your previous studies and write your motivation letter very well. Also include other Extra skills, training and certification that are relevant to the programme you want to apply, prepare a robust CV using Europass format etc. All the best. Nuel .

Please can my GCE(general certificate of education) serve as proof of English and French if I took both subjects in my GCE.
I wish to apply for applied information technology and I'm from Nigeria.
Usually, if you studied with English Language in your previous studies that may be enough to be used as a proof of English Language proficiency . However, the university may request for further proof of they believed that your level of English is not up to B2 level. Regarding proof of French language proficiency, usually if you are applying for a bachelors degree programme that is taught with French you need to provide evidence of French language certificate passed, I think also if you have studied and passed French course for at least up to 3 years of high school as shown in your transcript that may also be okay. However, please send an email to the University of Luxembourg to confirm this so that you will know exactly what to do before next application opens by Feb 2024. It is also advisable to choose courses that the percentage of subjects that will be taught with French component is less. Regards Nuel

To succeed in an appeal, you need to prove that they got it wrong. So, how can you prove that? The burden of proof is on you and NOT them. I advise you to apply for other courses or try another university like Austria.

However, in summary, one of the main bottlenecks will be language because you MUST have adequate knowledge of both French and German Language to study Bachelor in Medicine at the University of Luxembourg; this is a mandatory requirement. C1 certificates are required in French and German, and there is no possibility of studying Medicine in English at the University of Luxembourg.

Hi Bright, during the online application you dont need to do that, simply upload your documents as required. However, if you are offered an admission by the faculty, you will need to apply for the recognition of your foreign certificate, at the point you will need to authenticate your documents. What if you have a master degree but you want to apply for second master in different fields in luxembourge
You are free to apply for another master's degree, there is no restrictions on that. However, usually at the university of Luxembourg, they tend to consider your prio academic background and experience to the programme you intend to study. So if you are considering going into another field becareful to explain succinctly why you are going into that field in your motivation letter, if you have any professional experience in that new field you may add it. In my view there is nothing wrong in going to a different field but the university of Luxembourg do consider the relationship between your previous degree and the programme you intend to study, so they should have some correlation in most instances. The university of Luxembourg does not offer such courses . Try the Czech university of life sciences Prague Czech Republic. Masters in Biomedical sciences is organised in collaboration with different universities, so students will study different semesters in those universities, that is how the programme is structured which will give students a good experience. So if you are interested then go ahead to apply, to also increase your chances. Masters in integrated systems biology is competitive and they will accept only 18 students in the 2023/2024 academic year, during my time when I got admission to study Integrated Systems Biology in 2016, they accepted only 16 students then and I was one of them. So try your best and make sure you write a compelling motivation letter. All the best.

If you want to apply for a bachelors degree programme at the university of Luxembourg, you must first apply for the recognition of your high school certificate if you obtained it outside Luxembourg. Hi application for admission at the university of Luxembourg for non EU nationals will open around Feb 2024 and last until April 2024 so you can still apply within this period. The minimum requirements is usually second class division, there is no specific mention of the level of second class so I think that may just be enough. However, this is just one of the documents you need to submit you still have to convince the admission department that you have the necessary background needed for the chosen programme which should be evident in your motivation letter, résumé and other supporting documents.
