      Is the jar ceramic or something else?

      [You can skip this comment if you want. It's more of a rambling]
      You and I seem to have different definitions of "cost effective", which is okay. I could be missing something or just have a different perspective (I'm frugal, but border on 'cheap bastard'. Working on that). I guess if you already own the pot or pick it up at a second hand store/yard sale then it might be cost effective, but I see these kind of pots going for $50+ a pop and I'm not even sure if it has to be a specific kind of clay/ceramic to not explode in the heat.

    • @son-of-a-gun
      @son-of-a-gun 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chibigirl8545 the thick clay liner protects the ceramic pott from excessive heat. Besides.. The dried clay inner liner shrinks 3- 5 % so it will come loose from the ceramic pott.. Thus creating a clay pott in the ceramic pott with a narrow cavity in between them.
      The man that made the pizza oven purchased a pott with a crack. You can clearly see it. Nobody want a pott with a crack so he purchased it cheap or may be got it for free He cut the crack off.

    While the cheese is somewhat melted, it seems not hot enough. And that’s because the chimney is at the top, thus letting much of the heat out.
    The chimney should have been more towards the front. That way the oven retains much more of the heat, while letting the smoke out

      The flue pipe should be near the front it's letting way to much heat out also wouldn't it be better if there was coals under the food & the chicken cooked on a trivet above the hot coals to cook it thoroughly

    • @keithduckworth3829
      @keithduckworth3829 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@denisedavies3575 yes i believe you're right about the chimney being towards the front but No I don't think the coals should have to be under the food Because if it is done right it will heat up the entire area And the cement and brick area and can take up to 48 hours to effectively cool down Completely. So with that being said That's somewhere between 36 to 40 hours That the oven should be within cooking range. I think you just have to monitor your own oven to see what ranges you are holding temperature and for how long those temperatures stemperatures stay in those cooking ranges for.

    • @TheAlpine49
      @TheAlpine49 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you copy him, please place the chimney closer to the entrance. Dead center of the oven is NOT the best place for it. You are losing a lot of heat. Also, the chimney will fail and come lose if not secured better. One last thing, I pity the first person who touches the chimney when it's not cooled down yet!

    I used to lay bricks, and you did a great job. Doing that without a level is not easy. Other than not buttering the head or vertical joints before putting the bricks down, you built it just like a professional bricklayer, maybe better than most, because most bricklayers can't eye it and get it level, without a level.

    If you ever get to Italy, take a look at their very simple brick arch pizza ovens that you can bake a 24" in very easily. They're much easier to construct, especially by a good mason like the one in this video. It's very easy to build arches, all it takes is brick and clay and knock out wood supports.

      Yes, it is crucial. If you put the pipe in the inlet, the hot air will be forced to travel the upper part of the interior of the oven, heating the surface a lot. So you will improve your pizza oven because you will have heating by convection, conduction and radiation. Like in an expensive chef electric oven.

    All that work for a 8" pizza! Looking at him lay the brick down, I thought the lower portion would be for the fire and it would heat up the stone/brick and the entire jar would be for baking. The jar was already low on space. Adding charcoal just makes it even smaller.

      My father done it with refractory bricks like an igloo you know and when i was 8 or 9 years old i could go inside. We had a restaurant pizzeria. Even was big my mom put allways just one pizza and she said they must have plenty embers around too not just in deep for a better cook. So anyway in this case they must turn the pizza one time i think it's enough

    A very creative oven, great for inspiration and learning the basics! This oven can’t accommodate and cook large amounts of food anyway because it’s small and the food to be prepared won’t fit under the embers! An arched furnace can be easily built by paying close attention to the furnaces of the peoples of Italy or other countries! For example, I only want to build a furnace out of plain mud and clay! Economical operation requires a larger oven size for many baking! The oven is economical if you don't always have to reheat it! The heat always stays in the oven for a long time !!I wish everyone a nice pleasant day in good health!

      Yea, the Italian oven is one of the best to retain heat. It has a 65% ratio on the exit of smoke to keep in as much heat possible on the inside.

    Works on the same principle as a medieval oven, only I've never seen the coals left inside before. They're usually raked out because the stove retains its heat enough for baking.

      I’ve work at one of the top Italian Restaurants in the country for 22yrs and in that time our wood fires pizza oven has never gone completely out, the last guy to leave puts wood in before he leaves for the night, in the morning it’s stocked 1st thing, we use it for tons of stuff, whole pork legs, steaks, fish and pizza, it runs about 800 to 1,000 degrees depending...
