I had a guy friend who was as close as a brother to me. It's one of those friends you could sleep near but not do shit. Anyway. He had this girl right up his ass. It came down to when she called next we pretends to make sex noises. Haha she never did call back 😂😂
I'm actually still in contact with my ex's dad and talk to him on occasion. That guy was like a second father to me so when she decided to end it I felt like I lost an entire side of my family as well. Luckily her dad still texts me on occasion and has told me several times that if I need absolutely anything to give him a call. You're a hell of a guy, Brock.

My husband’s ex makes me laugh at how petty she is. 6 months into dating she tried to text him about how much she missed his...man bits and tried to dirty talk him. When he proposed to me she announced her marriage 4 days later, it was absolutely spiteful by the way she worded her FB announcement post and I’m still shaking my head at it 4 years later.

They want you to sit on a shelf, gathering dust while they go out to play, and if things don't work out, or they get bored or nostalgic, they want to "come back" and play with your life/emotions/time again. That's why they're called Players. More fool you if you just sit there waiting. They didn't value you before, they won't value you ever. YOU have to value you. Your choice.

Just my opinion, but forgetting the reason(s) enough to go back is a sign of brain damage...
There may be exceptions, perhaps where "breaking up" was a mistake. I won't entirely dismiss that, but I suggest taking the due time worthy of something life altering to really work through making such decisions.
For those of you who can "stay friends" with an ex', my hat tips but won't come off. I'm suspicious... I'll respect it, obviously... Your life and your decision(s)...
Coupling up and marriage and all might be wonderful things. They won't "fix" a thing in the world about you, and if you're not enough of a complete person on your own, you're not going to become such for having a relationship. In fact, you'll probably become a detriment to that relationship if you don't find your own way to grow. ;o)

If I'd met her a few years later, I think we'd have been married, but 17 and 15 when you meet isn't a mature foundation for a LTR.

We're all learning as we go, since life didn't come with an instruction pamphlet, let alone anything more comprehensive. Not every relationship that goes southward is necessarily toxic, but trying to get back the "magic" that you thought you had is rather like chasing a ghost. It'll prove the myth you delude yourself into believing, and not the reality of who either of you have become, nor both of you are when you're together again. ;o)
I had an ex who I dated during my first year of law school. She got it in her head that I was going to be a failure so she cheated on me and then broke up with me.
Fast forward a few years: I graduate and begin my law career. She hears about it and tries to hit me up. Over the course of ignoring her for two months, her messages go from congratulating me on my success to telling me that I'm a loser anyway and she's glad she left me.
Keep in mind that after we broke up, I never sent her a single message. She basically had a two month long conversation with herself.
She got the message and wanted to save face.

@A H I won't say liking that attention is a bad thing in itself, but the way he acted (not even sending a single message for 2 months) I'd be pretty much annoyed after a couple of days after continuously getting the texts. Maybe a week if not couple of days. I'd be blocking the shit outta her after a week. I mean I don't want to be with that person, what's the point of entertaining them for 2 months? I will be done with the attention they're giving me very quickly, not couple of months. Moreover blocking them will hurt their ego quite bad as well.
@A H Actually I wouldn’t block them either. If something happens later those texts and calls can help if lawyers ever get involved. There are many cases where the ex might become a stalker or something and threaten the persons life in one way or another.
True story: My 2nd wife was cheating on me with 4 men. The 4 men had 1 thing in common-they all were widowers that had received large life insurance payouts on their dead wives. A year later or so later she ran into me and said she was thinking we ought to get back together. I told her that made sense since I'm a widower like the guys she had been screwing. She just looked at me and said "What?" I said" Yeah...my wife is dead to me too" She stormed off pissed!!!Lmao!!!🤣 I really told her that. 😃

My ex dumped me for his ex. Someone showed me a picture of her shortly after and scarily enough we looked so similar that we could be mistaken for sisters. Not just similar but creepy similar. In fact even never having met her I had probably been mistaken for her before since strangers had been calling me her name before. (And the odd looks from his friends suddenly made sense)She did not want him back so just days later he wanted me back. After his speech about how much he missed me I just kept eyecontact and slowly backed away from him like he was a crazy person.

She obviously knew about me too and when someone commented how similar we looked and said we might be secret sisters we both looked really uncomfortable. Some people laughed but neither my friends nor her friends did. The so you are her pretty much hung unsaid between us. The whole thing was uncomfortable and neither of us managed to stop glancing at eachother that whole night. Im still a bit creeped out by how alike we look.

I had a couple of ex boyfriends like that. Neither lasted long (Bare in mind I was young) First one, we were dating and I was just out of college and working a real job that didn't pay a huge amount so I took a part time job as well. He moved in no job but said he could be a good house boyfriend. So I said, fine because at the time I hated cleaning and cooking (I know not mature) after a week he complains about feeling like a slave even though I always picked up after myself and that I won't share my car with him (he had no license so like Hell was he driving my car) and I suggested he get a job and we split chores and bills 50/50. So he goes go work and first pay check brags about how he is making almost as much as I am at my full time job. I tell him great. Here is what you owe me for your half of the rent and the bills and the food. He calls me selfish for wanting him to share his pay check with me and I shrug and ask him who did he think was paying the bills up till then? He then told me he didn't want to give me a dime so I said you have 24 hours to get out. I told the land lord since he wasn't on the lease and the land lord told him the same thing. He moved out with a friend and a year or so later called me up drunk to tell me how much he fucked up and I just laughed at him. Second one we were living together and I was working two jobs and going to graduate school for teaching. He was complaining about how he hated working and wanted to be a house husband. Since he had two weeks where he had no work (he was a contractor) I told him he could show me how good of a house boyfriend he could be and then when I was done school and working full time, we could get married and I will let him be a house husband. I came home (after working sometimes 12 hours) to an apartment that was messy, dinner not even started, and no errands run (even if I gave him a list and cash to pay for food). His excuse was that he was tired and he thought we could do all of those things together. I told him, I had just worked 12 hours and had school work to do and was tired too so be better get a job if he doesn't want to do the chores. He told me I was selfish, so I said fine. I moved out finished school got a decent paying job (not in my field but still a good one) and he still will message me every now and then (which I don't mind, I care about him as a person) but when he tries to say I miss you and I regret losing you I just ignore it. I am currently single and happy and now have a strict policy about only dating guys who want to be career men and not house husbands!

We have good and bad days about the bills but we equally clean cook and when I have particularly stressful days or even if he does we both work together as a team and take over that other person's half of the work to do in the house or errands or whatever and it's great to not be in a toxic abusive relationship

Had an emotionally and physically abusive ex girlfriend who treated me like crap for the latter 2/3rds of the relationship. The point where things got so bad that I had to leave was when she cheated on me with some guy, and decided to confess it to me by saying that she was polyamorous and wanted to date both of us. Noped the hell out and sent her a breakup email because she had threatened to kill me if I ever left her.
Something like four years later, when I had moved on from her and since gotten into another relationship, she decided to text me out of nowhere of her drinking the soda that she had discovered that was her favorite while she was with me, with a weird "I have returned" text. Deleted the text and ignored her entirely.
As someone who is in a polyamorous relationship, that's something you have a lot of long conversations about long before you decide that. It's not an easy thing to manage, but you need to have a lot of trust in your partners to make it work

Showed up on my door step after the guy she had both cheated on me with and left me for had kicked her out on valentines day. I just told her I couldn't help her and closed the door in her face.
I told him off. He thought I didn’t know he was still hooking up with other girls. His “best friend” told me everything. He later got one of his hookups pregnant (around the same time he tried to shoot his shot). They’re married and have another baby. She apparently had to lock him down and control was a thing for her 🤷🏾♀️. I remember seeing them both with my now husband and she freaked out. My hubby knows how much of a crazy douche nozzle the ex was so he was unbothered.
I have an ex from 2004 whose family STILL hates my guts for dumping her. Fucked up part is, that ex had cheated on me with my friend who just do happened to be her brother/cousin (yes, you read it correctly people.). Even more fucked up part is that the reason they hate me still is because according to the ex and ex friend, the whole incest thing is part of their religion and family tradition and when I insulted both of them as badly as I did, I supposedly took a shit on their religion.

My abusive ex texted and told me he was sorry for what he did.. and also that his dog is dying, and that he had told the dog goodbye for me.
I blocked him.
She broke up with me. We never argued or had fights, we didn't have any issues between us or any kind of disconnects, it was nice and we deeply cared for each other. But one day... She told me it was too much, too stressful, that she couldn't handle it. Weird, but I know her and her friends too well to think it's something with another dude. I tried to ask what was wrong, but she just said she had to do it. So we broke up and it absolutely wrecked my heart. The pain in my heart was enough to make me throw up. I was so hurt, but decided to be good to her as she was to me, and try to support her even though she broke me bad. Two months go by of just casually talking and she asks for me back, saying she's never felt so alone, she misses me, she regrets it, etc etc. I've never had a good second try (well, that's implied given im in this situation), so I took her back. Nearing a year in and it's still smooth and fulfilling. I just hope she doesn't fall into whatever pit she found herself in the first time.
TL;DR: Usually it's a bad idea, but depending on the relationship and the reason, it may be worth going back to.

Happened not to long ago. Had an ex hit me up two years after she ghosted me out of the blue. She said she was sorry and that she wanted another shot, so I played along for two days then blocked her. Petty, I know, but it felt so good.
I used to have an on/off thing with my emotionally abusive & manipulative ex for years while I was very mentally unwell. Dealt with the constant suicide threats & self-harm pictures whenever I mentioned feeling unhappy in the relationship or when I broke it off and being sexually assaulted by him. After breaking up & getting back together dozens of times, we were in that "friendly" stage and I just kind of snapped and decided I'm a decent guy who's worth more than this shit at the very least and blew up at him ending with to never to contact me again

My ex was extremely narcissistic and crazy, but now looking back I realize we weren't good for each other. He would contact me every other month and last night he lied to me and said we haven't talked in a year. It was a conversation where I didn't really feel like arguing with him, and there was a lot of awkward silence. He was also claiming that he "was checking up on me" and honestly, I had no idea what to talk to him about, so I politely told him that and then hung up. I really don't have anything to say to a person who lied all the time and who accused me of doing things that weren't true, and who constantly treated me like garbage. Now it's time for me to move on. When he left me, I missed him a lot but then I realized how happy I was without having him in my life.
Emailed me 1 year (to the month) after leaving me for an ex who'd ripped his heart out years prior. Had told me we hadn't actually been dating and that I'd just imagined it. He takes her back and I guess once again, it didn't work. So he messaged me asking if we can reconnect.
Didn't answer. He'd lied about so many things to justify his actions, I knew trust was permanently destroyed.
Took a very long break from dating. Worked on personal development. And I've never been happier.

This was only 6 months since divorcing her husband who was serving 2 years in prison for selling drugs to an undercover detective. She had an 8 year old son and a 5 year old son. She had already decided we had moved from the friend zone to getting married and me adopting her two sons. I told her I had moved on and was not interested. Yes, I had gotten over her. Closure.

My ex (serial cheater on all of his girlfriends, turns out) kept calling me after I dumped him for his wandering eye while I was in a new relationship, and I would be dismissive and say “don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll find someone eventually” and then get off the phone while he was still protesting that. Then he showed up at my house after I married and had my first baby asking to talk to me. I know damn well that he didn’t love me, he was just a player who was surprised that a woman left HIM for a change instead of the other way around. I confused him, hurt his ego-because he was always the leaver, not the one left behind. He went on to leave every girl and never marry, knocking up three different women and abandoning them all, was a terrible father, etc. Bullet successfully dodged. I stayed happily married to my good guy, and still am to this day. Kids raised :). Best decision ever.

Whenever I get rejected or broken up with I just think to myself "they didn't notice my value, that's on them" and move on within a few days or so. People call me "heartless" for doing this, I'm not, I just know what I want out of a relationship and I'm not going to cry or waste my time over someone that didn't reciprocate what I was dishing out. So my ex broke up with me at camp and I was upset, but we initially agreed to be friends since we actually lived close by each other. When he hooks up with this bimbo, I'm not mad, but my friends convince me I need to get revenge by finding a guy to hook up with and they set me up with one of our guy friends. Guy friend and I actually really hit it off and agree to try a long distance relationship after camp ends. Camp ends and my ex wants me to be his side chick. I'm not comfortable with that and I tell him so and he's like "No one needs to know, besides you know you'll never find someone with my skills" implying he's some sort of makeout God. I just kind of roll my eyes, because I had way more chemistry with my new boyfriend, and I say "Well actually..." and he goes "Well I feel like shit now". Like, dude, that's what you get for trying to pressure someone into cheating with you.
My ex broke up with me the same day we were officially boyfriend and girlfriend, she called me the next day trying to be my gf again and I said "nah"
In high school around twenty something years ago, I had been dating a girl for a month or two. She called me and said she wanted to break up. I said “okay, take care” and hung up.
She called back 10 minutes later and said she was just kidding and wanted to get back together. I laughed, said no, and hung up.
Classic case of fuck around and find out. I’m really proud of 17 year old me for that one.
I ignored mine. He only loves the bottle, and wanted me to babysit him so his life didn't totally fall apart. He put me through hell and constantly lied about his alcohol consumption and expected me to fix him without him making any effort at all to get better. I wouldn't even give him the time to respond to the bullshit.
I've had several friends - mostly female - with whom I've done 'telephone therapy'. Talking some, mostly listening. Being a friend, a receptive ear, honest about criticism and thinking about options... is rather welcome, it seems.

I just pointed out the fact that i knew she was talking to her "new guy" for weeks before she broke it off with me. Aka cheating. She kept on trying until I asked her some questions about me. Showing how one sided our relationship was.

My ex had his gf pick him at the train station after I told him I'd left, and was divorcing him. I'd cut off his phone and his CCs, so he had to borrow a phone to call me. His gf broke up with him that night. So sad for him b/c he was planning on moving in with her. The gf realized what a b/h he was that night and we became great friends after that! She ended up being a POWork, but that's another story. He had planned on buying me a house with my inheritance, then mortgage it out from under me. He'd even bragged to my siblings about it!
He broke up with me because, and I quote: "I booked a trip to Thailand before we met and I want to have fun there" and also he told me "You´re great and all but I know there is better out there". He never told me about this trip during our relationship. He went to his 40 day sex fest to Thailand and had the nerve to contact me one month after his return, wanting me back. Felt great to say no.

We had dated for about a year and a half, about 10 months of that in co-habitation. Came home from work one day, she's gone, along with all her things. No note. She wouldn't pick up the phone or respond to texts. Just.... vanished, and no warning at all.
Okay, that hurt. I was kind of a mess for a while, but over the course of a couple of months I was able to put it all in the rear-view mirror.
7-8 months later, she shows up at my door wanting to 'start over'. Baffled when I told her no.

I don't hate you. But I can't TRUST you. Anyone who would do that to me once is absolutely capable of doing it twice, and once was more than enough. My mama didn't raise an idiot.

I don't get these people who are so eager to get back with their exes. Seems like if you went to the trouble to break up with someone, it looks too desperate and pitiful to try to get back together. I have an ex who I broke up with who would call me and leave drunk messages, begging to see me. I ignored them. A few years later he called and I talked to him for a little while. He insisted that he was the one who broke up with me but insisted that he would " forgive" me and see me again. I refused and then hung up and laughed my butt off.
My first serious GF was playing with me and her EX for months. 2 different cities so it was super easy for her. I found out and ended it, showed up at the small going away party I had before enlisting, and guess who showed up uninvited. I asked her not to write me or attempt to contact me, she and her friend lectured me and that was the end of it. When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.
My ex would break up with me over little things, he once didn’t want to go to the same cafe i did, so when he couldn’t think on anywhere else, and we sat down in the cafe
He just told me we should break up, when i agreed with him and said it was for the best
He made a dramatic situation where we had to leave, then he was fine and wanted to be with me again.
The last time i put up with it, he sent me a text saying i ruined his birthday because nothing went right, and that if he was so hard to deal with, then don’t bother
So i said okay and blocked him, he spent 4 days messaging our friends, to tell me i need to unblock him and it was a mistake, and when he found out i was with someone else later on that year, he proceeded to spread i cheated on him.
Im happy none of our friends believed him.

My ex husband treated me like crap, he was emotionally abusive, his ex gf called me once and told me they'd been sleeping together (I honestly don't know if that was true but ya know) and there were the beginnings of physical abuse, I walked out and divorced him.

Its weird because I never hit back an ex or a friend besides recently. My friend basically got caught talking behind my back and then i cut off the friendship and then her friends where calling me toxic and fake and that made me feel guilty so i texted back and she said "I dont care about you anymore leave it" and that made me get caught in a depression cause i couldnt understand what i did wrong after that time I come to realize I didnt do jack wrong after 6 months of being depressed and lonely as ever. I just got out a terrible relationship for 10 years. I really did care for her and she knew that. Used it to her advantage and i finally had enuff of the arguments over nothing because she had found someone else. I think he banged her and left her. She came back and said "what if i realized i fucked up?"

My ex said she didn't feel the same amymore and then proceeded to get with her "Friend" that was also her new roommate she got a place with.
I took her back after ignoring her, then found out what she had done while I ignored her after confessing she no longer loved me. I was foolish. That was in Oct. Then in Feburary she became emotionally vulnerable with another man while drunk and he made a move and then all of a sudden, a mere 6 days after breaking it off, he was the most important thing in the world.
The fucking person would always say "I've known him longer than you, 6 years" or "I've only known him 2 years" and I just couldn't be in any sorta spot in her heart if that makes sense? Crazy bitches, man...

I want to buy house and get married as soon as I graduated. I didn't blame him, but turns out when he left me the pain doesn't sting that long. Maybe because I'm good at keeping myself busy. Three months later, a week ago he asked me to come to his apartment (due to corona I'm now 300 km away from his town). I said no, I can't because of jobs and everything else. He said he wants us to get back together, and he would start looking for job. My Mom warned me and I just think he might be worth it. But idk... I still can't answer him now.

You know i had a friend whose wife cheated on him and hes the type of guy who gets over things quickly after a month he got a promotion and dated his boss . They both have alot in common like how they both have been cheated on plus they looked good together, he posted it on Instagram about his job and gf so the ex wife made a huge apology to him at his front door. After she apologised my friend gave a kiss to his gf in front of her and said “you want me to leave her for you, i think you need to look in the mirror” gave her this small portable mirrors and closed the door.
Btw she is still trying to contact him and even asked me to talk to him cause in the past we were good friends i said” i guess you didnt look in the mirror “ and closed the door.

My ex broke up with me after I had broken up with her in the past. We were back together for just over a year when she broke it off because she was “depending on me for happiness”. 3 weeks later she comes back and says she wants to get back together, that her friends were the big facilitators in convincing her to break up with me. I asked: are you still friends with them? She said yes, I promptly told her she was wasting my time but still wished her luck
I turned him down, he was actually really nice but he had his own troubles as did I. Part of my choice was because of how we split, although we cared for eachother our personal issues seemed to effect the relationship, there were days where I was feeling positive and he would be toxic and vice versa. Although we could have worked on it I just wasn't sure. What didn't help matters though was that my toxic father and toxic ex(hadn't dated yet) were in the room with me and I asked them for advice. They both advised against it. Turned out the friend planned on dating me and had asked me out, since he was a friend of several years I thought what the hell. That turned out to be an enormous mistake, but I didn't find that out years later. However now I'm with a wonderful guy so I don't look back, but I do hope that he's doing ok. I'm sure he did deserve another chance but that's just not how it went.

Get this yall, 4 years ago in highschool, "fluffy", quiet, rushing me was in a relationship with a girl. Year and half later says i was the reason for her depression when I forced myself to be awake past 3/4 in the morning almsot every month because she felt she wasn't good enough and wanted to off herself suddenly says "I met someone who makes me feel better".
Not even a week after we split they are dating and i spend my summer in school because i failed that year because i felt lile a failure. Junior year we had a off and on thing (my failt for falling fot eachtime she begged) the final time we broke up she said she'd wait for me and i blew up at her and made her cry. Best day of my life ever, i felt free and lost a huge burden (minus being single) and ran around the school for each class every day happy till senior year lmao
Once a relationship has fizzled, the mistake we all make is going back to what's comfortable. One in a million get back together and live happily ever after. We met at a concert when I was 18 and he was 25. We dated for a year but then broke up because the timing wasn’t right. We remained friends. He focused on his career and I went to school and then when I was 23 ended up having a son. Things didn’t work out with my son’s dad so I went back to my ex when my son was 3 months old. It’s also most 4 years later now and was had 2 more kids and are doing pretty well.
