I remember as a kid this girl that I barely even knew just out of blue started insulting me, so I insulted her, then she said my father is stupid, and I just said "so is yours" suddenly out of nowhere she turns red, and she just starts screaming and crying, and runs away, everyone around us runs after her to calm her down, adults that were near come and ask what has happened I still had no idea, someone tells them I said her father is stupid and they tell me I HAVE to apologise, everyone is calling me jerk and stuff like that, and I ain't got no idea why cause they were all there. They saw she insulted me 1st and I was basically just saying same thing back.
Well long story short turns out her father was some sort of war hero that died in war while she was baby.
Like how the heck should have I known that, and what kind of kid insults your father without expecting the same shit in return "no you" was pretty much the only thing we ever used against each other.

This happened years ago, so can't find original story, but a woman was being routinely beaten up by her husband at least once a week (when he got drunk) for nearly 20 years. He came home drunk again, beats her up, she slipped some sleeping pills into his dinner, and when he passed out in the bedroom, she took a stiletto shoe and worked him over, from head to toe, locked him in the room, pushed the key under the door and left him. For some strange reason, he never stalked her to get "revenge" or mentioned this to the police.

I'm from Rio, it's not uncommon to hear about that; if given the chance, people will beat a robber to a pulp; like, literally, everyone around, even the nice old ladies, will gather to kick, punch, slap, and overall beat the robber(s) until the police cames to drag them to the hospital, sometimes they don't survive; we see it on the news from time to time. And no, no one has a single drop of remorse for their actions and will beat the robbers again if they try something funny; which is the reason why robbers frequently have loaded guns here, many people won't get down without a fight if they have a chance to resist the robbery without immediately getting shot on their heads

I remember one time in high school, one of our teachers was pregnant and I always admired her for still teaching us despite her huge tummy and not taking a maternity leave yet. My classmates gets bored at her classes because she only makes us copy down notes all the time. So they all made a complaint about it I guess, to the principal. They asked her to be removed from teaching our class (I was in the advanced class so teachers needed to be of high standard somehow to teach us, I honestly think my classmates were just entitled), so the principal told her that the students complained and that she will be removed from the class.
The next day, she came to class at the verge of tears and told us that we should've just told her first if we had any complaints and she would have tried to fix it even. I was so worried because stress is not good for pregnant women but we officially made her cry and kind of embarassed her to the school. She said that before she leaves, she wants us to write down all the negative things about her and that we are not allowed to write anything positive or else she'll deduct huge points on our previous exam. Apparently, everyone in the class except for 3 of us wrote nothing but negative things. I could tell that my classmates regretted what they did, it kind of hit worse than they originally intended.

When I was a kid, I used to get picked on a bit. I didn't know yet that I was autistic, so I had no idea why I wasn't fitting in. I was just getting so sick of it. I usually let it go, but one day, a girl came up and started following me saying dumb little-kid insults. I was fine, right up until she said "...and you've probably got lice". I don't know why, but that got to me. I just snapped, turned around and bolted towards her. She freaked out and started running, and I just kept chasing her. I'm slow as heck, so I expected her to run off away from me, and that'd be the end of it. But after a bit, I realised that I was actually keeping up with her and she wasn't gonna just get away. I didn't know what to do, because if I stopped chasing her now, she'd realise I was bluffing. So I chased her around until she cornered herself. And then she started panicking and crying because I'd caught her.
I hadn't expected to get that far, and I still didn't know what to do. I didn't want to actually hurt her, but I couldn't just walk off at that point. I ended up going over and awkwardly giving her a really, really light punch in the stomach. It probably didn't even hurt. But she threw up. And then cried because she threw up. She was fine, and it seems like she threw up because of stress and not the mini-punch, but I still felt bad for ages. At the time, I kept thinking I took it too far.
But honestly now, I just find the whole thing funny. The girl was always mean to me before that. But the second I started to retaliate, she panicked. I don't know what else she expected.

My sight went red and it was as if I locked into an expressionless rage. I lifted and threw him across a room, over a table, where he landed hard on a tile floor. I rushed over and grabbed his collar again before he could process what actually happened and barely stopped myself from beating the shit out of him further. I dropped him and said that was enough. He went crawling back into his room crying. My parents were mad at me but I told them “you’ve had years to step in and be parents and stop him at any point. You haven’t done anything and I’m done taking this. If he doesn’t want to get hurt, then he shouldn’t pick fights.”
That was the day he realized that all these years he’s tormented me, he’s only gotten away with it because I’m nice, not because I’m incapable of stopping him. Years later we’re much closer now, and he knows not to cross lines. When someone at a bar was trying to pick a fight with him, I was across the bar and moved to stay just two steps behind the guy; the situation was resolved peacefully but when I asked my brother why he wasn’t worried that guy would punch him he said he saw me behind the guy nearly foaming at the mouth and knew even if they guy hit him once, one punch is all he’d have before I took care of it.

Mine's not really revenge, but definitely had unintended consequences. I live in an apartment tower and my next door neighbour had her girlfriend move in with her, bringing a very disobedient dog. They made so much noise yelling at the dog constantly, sometimes late into the night, and it really bothered me. They then started yelling at each other because they didn't know what to do about the dog's behaviour, so it was just constant noise from them. I contacted our agency and told them about the noise, basically asking them to give them a warning about keeping it down. That literally all I wanted - just for them to be quiet. Well, the agency looked into it and it turned out that the girlfriend and dog were there illegally, weren't on the lease and weren't under contract. All three of them got immediately evicted, which apparently split up the couple because they had no choice but to move in with their respective parents, which were at other sides of the country... oops. All I wanted was some peace and quiet, although I guess I got it, cos the new neighbours don't make much noise at all!

When I was in 9th grade, I was friends with this dude in 11th grade. Over the course of the year, our friendship had withered away just due to the stark maturity difference between us. I didn't really realize this as much and was somewhat in denial, but there was just bad communication all around. One day, I playfully shoved him, as he used to do teasingly to me, and he slapped me in the face. We got into a pretty big argument which quickly turned aggressive and bitter, and I used extremely personal things he had told me in confidence as an attack against him. The kind of stuff that cuts a person deep. The kind of stuff that immediately ends what's left of a friendship, no questions asked. I was pretty immature and didn't fully realize the power of words, but eventually I realized just how much of an impulsive and insensitive dong I had been, not just in general but especially in that moment, and I hurt him. I apologized a year later and we made up and went our separate ways on a more positive note, but even after that and all these years later it still haunts me every single day. I used that regret to grow up into a better person and to never stoop that low again as long as I live.

Thankfully my mother survived but for those 6 months or so she was in the hospital my mind was on nothing but her well being and anything that kept me from seeing her I hated it. I started becoming cold to my friends without realizing it, since school was stopping me from seeing her I grew to hate it and started snapping at my teachers through association of the school. I was so tunnel visioned on my mother I became a ticking time bomb every second I wasn't able to be with her. Almost like a survival instinct or something. I only realized how nasty I had acted after my mother was in the clear and I returned to normal and my friends commented on it. It made me truly reflect on how awful I was being to them and appreciate that they tolerated my bullshit during that time. I did apologize to my teachers who understood I was under a lot of stress. I guess what I'm saying is that the threat of losing someone close to you like a parent can bring out a different person in you. And that's where I was wrong. I said something(don't remember what) and the girl, lets call her Leader, she made fun of me for my head shape and mind you, looking back at it, she called me what that girl called Arnold in 'Hey, Arnold.' it didn't bother me much and I didn't tell the teacher cause I knew karma would hit her back eventually and it did. My friend told me that Leader bullied her and she got the evidence and people to back her story up and Leader got expelled. Her two 'minions' got their karma by failing that grade and stood a grade behind me. I think they changed their ways because the two girls where a lot nicer after that.

I remember some kid in school stole my scented gel pens and a rainbow gel pen when we were like 8 to add to his collection. Completely denied it when I confronted him and the teacher did nothing when I told them.
Stole them back when he left them in his desk drawer at break and the rest of his for good measure.
Hid them in my backpack instead of my pencil case or desk drawer and carried on with lunch/break. He didn’t think to search my backpack but he’d emptied my desk drawer contents all over the classroom and got caught going through my pencil case so was punished for that. I’ll never forget his furious red face with tears streaming down it for getting beat at his own game.
Found out later he was a kid in care and felt really guilty about stealing his stuff when I could’ve just taken my own things back and left it at that. I never did anything like that again but did put little name cards inside my gel pen barrels after that and never got them stolen again.

I don’t know if this would be considered “revenge” but I think it counts. When I was a kid I was really scared of the dark (ok, maybe I still am a little!) and my jerk brother knew it so he shut off the light of our big play room while I was still in there. I freaked out and was screaming for him to turn it back on. Yes, I could have walked across the room and done it myself but, ya know, irrational fear. In the end, I did end up walking over myself because he wouldn’t turn it back on. So, as “revenge” I either hit him with a pillow or threw a pillow at him. Unfortunately, he was right next to the stairs. Yeah, he fell down the stairs. Had a nice gash in his knee. Man did I feel horrible! Luckily the kid took pity on me and didn’t throw me under the bus to our parents because he knew I didn’t mean to do it and he had been a jerk. Still brings it up more than 20 years later though. Remember that time you pushed me down the stairs??? Still a jerk.

The one with the grandpa giving out "prison yard" advice
    Happened to me too
My Daddy taught me "Tit for Tat. If someone slaps you and tries to bully you, slap them back and teach them a lesson that you're not to be messed with and tell me of anyone bothers you"
I took this advice to heart, through the years it was petty stuff like if someone lifted my skirt (don't even ask, I was at an all girls school from KG to 10th grade) I'd do it right back. Multiple Times I got into fights and while most girls would have the typical "cat fights" I would often find myself pinning down my opponent against a wall, arm across Her neck, twisting the other arm and seriously injuring them (or so I thought atleast)
The only cat fight I had was in 6th or 7th grade when this bitch pulled my skirt in the middle of the basketball court during a match where two boy's school teams were not just playing but also watching the game (this was kinda like a break for us to do our cheer routine, bitch wasn't even on our cheer squad, just came out of nowhere during my formation and lifted my skirt and ran) I didn't do anything right there and then but when the cheer routine was over I cornered her and her posse and got into a fight, hair was pulled, blazer patches were ripped out, I broke her glasses too, pushed her face down on the ground and made her break her front teeth in the process
By the time 9th, 10th grade rolled around though I started becoming more passive because I knew getting onto fights will reduce my chances of getting into top schools
But people knew not to mess with me most of the time because I never backed down from a fist fight

I hope these revenge actions began with an attempt at talking and communication of said misconduct. A lot of times, letting a person know how they are affecting you can stop them from doing whatever it is they are doing to you. If that doesn't work, well ya... I can be pretty petty at times. In that case I'd probably go with the revenge too in many of these cases.

Some of these OP’s who acted on their revenges are weak. What the bullies got was righteously deserved and they shouldn’t feel any kind of guilt whatsoever. Even if the bully had a horrible house with abusive parents, or just a stressful life, it doesn’t make it right to take it out on someone else that didn’t deserve all that hate. Like the first kid, he had shitty parents, but decided to be a cruel person to other kids, he got what he deserved.

I didn't have many people I considered friends growing up. Somehow I bonded with this one girl in the fifth grade (couldn't even tell you her name now) and decided she was my best friend in homeroom. She was, quite frankly, fat, and some boys apparently thought this was funny.
One day in the school lunch line, some of these jokers were right front of me, and she was directly in back. These guys kept whispering for me to call her a buffalo, because that was hilarious somehow. And they wouldn't shut up about it... and I was worried she'd hear... and I hated the idea of these guys trying to make me ruin my friendship just so they could get a laugh out of it.
So I took my little red plastic lunchbox, with ALF on the side, and sent the one closest to me straight to hell. I'm told that by the time one of the teachers pulled me off the sumbitch, his eyes were swirling around in their sockets. Pretty sure I started crying afterwards because the whole thing was so damn awful.
Somehow I didn't get punished. The teacher knew this kind of violence was totally unlike me and wouldn't have happened without reason. Also, I'm pretty sure the other teachers knew about my status as a bully magnet, and saw that I was genuinely sorry and upset about it. But I knew I got lucky, and I didn't pull that crap with anyone again... at least until middle school, under similar circumstances.

    This one is TL;dr.
My mom dated a drunk. He was abusive to her and berated me even though I was disabled and on chemotherapy. So, one day he delivered the last straw, and I made up my mind for revenge.
I observed his triggers and vices, then I preyed upon them by negatively reinforcing his positive behavior and positively reinforcing his negative behavior. Ergo, when he drank, I did what I was told, when he didn't drink, I disobeyed and rebelled. I did this with such ruthless efficiency that he became a walking drunk, waking every morning at 2am to piss his brains out, become sleep deprived, to which he drank more in order to cope.
It was at this time that I convinced my mom to move into a rental. Her drunk bf nearly lost his job because of his alcoholism, so he was admitted to a resort to help him with his alcoholism.
During this time, my mom's house was sitting empty, her drunk bf having moved out, and people were stealing things from her property. It was also at this time that my aunt, my mom's cat-lady sister, lost her apartment because she lost her job.
Since my aunt had done some very terrible things to me as a child, saying she threw away things my dad had given me while giving my stuff to her own son, my psychotic cousin, this was a good opportunity to get some more revenge.
I suggested to my mom that her sister, my aunt, could move in to have a place to live, and while she is there she can keep up the property by mowing the lawn and also so no one will steal or damage the property while she figures out how to sell it. And she bought right into it.
Little did she want to admit, but I knew my aunt's behavior a lot better than she cared to admit. My aunt never mowed, let animals shit and piss all throughout the house, and let garbage stack outside and inside the house.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that my psychotic cousin, my aunt's son, moved in with her without telling my mom about it, and turned her bedroom into a hoarder's den. When my mom tried to confront them about what they were not doing, that they said they would do, they became abusive and even confrontational on her own property. I couldn't have planned that better.
After a few years of that hell, my mom finally got a real estate agent to help her with the eviction process and sell her house. It was gold to finally get one over on my aunt EDIT: and cousin, but also to ruin that shitty relationship she had with her sister who only brought her down.
It was during this time that my mom's drunk bf got cleaned up, and tried to move into the new rental with us. However, I wasn't having it. I made it clear that I would be moving out if he moved in, so she decided to let him go. He was furious and stormed out never to be seen again. However, he did send a letter that said she was a hedonist and that I was the spawn of satan to which I asked my mom, "If I'm the spawn of satan, what does that make you?" She was furious!
With that, I continued to show her how to take on more liabilities that didn't earn her money by overinflating her wants and undervaluing her necessities. She took out a vehicle loan she couldn't afford, started taking her animals to the vet, and even started spending a lot of money on her horses that just ate and shit grass all day.
Why do this to my poor mother? When I was little, I made my first friend, a young girl who walked up to me in the backyard and wanted to hang out. When I went to introduce her to my mom, my mom freaked out and kicked her off the property. I was so furious I was beside myself with grief. 25 years later, revenge never tasted so sweet. I hope to whisper in her ear at the end all that I had done just so she can go into the next life not being able to do a damn thing about it.
This is what they get for treating me like I'm less than human. The best part? Not a single fuck given.
My sister and niece are starting in on me. I'm already getting revved up for a little payback.
I do think about whether it was a little much, but I need only examine their ongoing behavior and that gives me the motivation to take it as far as it needs to go even if they end up taking their own lives.
EDIT: Also thought I'd education some people on this so they have some ground to stand on.
Don't let anyone exploit you, nor walk all over you. Set boundaries. Tell people 'NO!' I don't ask people to tell me, "I'm sorry." Words are cheap. The only thing I want from them is repentance. Changed behavior. If they don't give me that, I can't do anything to save them from the hell that is coming their way without suffering AGAIN for trying to protect them from themselves, which is exactly what they want. They love that schadenfreude brought on by their envy. They are adult children trying to relive the good old days.
Too bad, so sad. Suck it up, buttercup. Grow a spine, and stand on your own two feet. No one else is going to do it for you. It's something you have to figure out for yourself.
I trust the painful truth more than I trust a comforting lie. Maybe you'll read this and understand, or not. No decent human being deserves to be treated like shit for person enjoyment. But when they fuck up, they need to feel the pain, just as a child needs to be disciplined, so do adults need to experience a boundary being set, so they know that when they misbehave, pain follows.
That's what it means to be an adult.

I can't remember how it started, but in HS my best friend and I had a prank war. What ended it was my final move on his car. It happened on April Fool's Day.
He had a 70's Honda Civic (this was in the '90's) I bought two large bottles of the strongest hair gel I could find, then went to the theater scene shop at the local juco I attended. I was indeed a theater major. Anyway, I got three or four five-gallon buckets of sawdust out of the table saw, put them in the back of my truck and headed to find his car.
He was still in HS (senior) So I started by coating the roof and hood of his car with the gel, then I added the sawdust to soak it all up really well. I still had a bucket and a half left, so I dumped it loose on top.
The school had parking lot security who rolled up on me in the process. He didn't even get out of his truck.
    "Someone's birthday?"
    "Nah, April Fool's Day."
    "Huh...aight...." And he drove off.
I got a call during dinner that night.
"YOU!! I'll have you know I had to wash my car before I could come home because of you!! It cost me FIVE DOLLARS!!"
a cop pulled him over and told him to wash it off before too long, but it was only hair gel. No damage to the paint at all, and it washed off quick.
    "Aw you poor baby..."
His dad was laughing...hard...in the background.
That's where I expected it to end, but no. As the days got hotter he used the A/C for the first time since...and got a face full of sawdust. That prompted another phone call, With dad accompanying in the background again.
The rest of the time he had the car, any time the climate control was used, a few more flakes would pop out of the vents. When he gave it to his little sister...still going. Four years later when they sold it to a stranger...still going.
