Button down shirts are staples, classics, especially in white. They don't go out of style.

Agree. I just sprung to add a second one to my wardrobe. I know I will get some good wear out of it. I also have a good collection of more fun button up shirts, but I find that I need some "plain Jane" shirts as well.

Recently I heard an excellent clarification about trends vs. style. Trends are about changing fashion, while style is how we use clothing to present ourselves to the world. While it's important to note trends (or fashion) as they change, it's even more important to stay true to your style. Nothing brilliant or earth shattering, but this perspective helps frame our decisions.

Two things I disagree with. First, a classic white fitted button up is timeless and classic. It may not be trending, but will NEVER be out of style. Secondly, classic high heeled pumps will never go out of style either. Again, flats may be trending, but if I am wearing dress pants, a non-casual dress or a pencil skirt, my Manolo or Jimmy Choo classic pumps will always be my go to. Thanks for your videos.

Wedges will probably be out this spring and summer, but it's the only decent heel I can wear. Ironically flats are more uncomfortable to me than wedges because they are so flat and offer not support. I'm probably the only one but a little platform in heel or boot makes a huge difference for me.

I think if you are shorter, wearing a midi with tall boots can be very flattering. So many of us have figured out how to incorporate "out of style" pieces into cute outfits so I keep many of these items in my closet- they all come back eventually, right? * I never ever wore flat shoes as I am a chunky boot girl for life.

    • @Sjp374

    • @Heatherofscots

Most baggy clothes look crap on everyone. If you look at some of the examples here, the models are making the clothes look better buy creating shape like tucking in one side or placing a hand on the waist.

As a pear shape with large thighs, I have been so frustrated trying to replace my skinny jeans, especially here in Italy where it's challenging to find anything larger than a US size 10. Classic straight and wide-leg jeans looked awful, but have found slim and bootcut to be much more flattering options. Just thought I'd share because I find so many of these trends challenging for those of us who are fuller-figured.

In my opinion, it's better to stay classy, chic but not boring. Trends come and go but a classy style will always be. Regarding the shoes, certain clothing you can wear with heels and others with flats, and I'm not talking about huge heels with platforms... so I'll say both are needed.

Count me in as someone who will not part with her heels, but I like that kitten heels are growing in popularity. I am always looking for some. I have small feet and because of trigonometry, a 2 1/2 inch heel looks and wears like a 3 1/2 heel. And since I wear heels everyday, comfort and function are important.

It all sounds good to me. I'm thinking we're still going to see pink in the mainstream. All the pink lovers bought as much as they could and they are definitely not parting ways with it. It may not be a trending color now, but I don't think it was a fad either.

I'm glad the oversized trend is going. Never could get on board with that one. Also happy to see flats in the spotlight. I like maxi skirts/dresses in light, flowy fabrics. In heavier fabrics (like denim) I think the midi length is more comfortable. Great video, as always, Jamie! ❤

  • @mpbeautyinsight
    @mpbeautyinsight 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

The problem wth maxi length is that if you're 5' 4" or under .. you're taking your dress purchase to a tailor.

I AM 5 FT 1 IN. Maxi skirts eat me up. Midis are a little longer than mid calf on us shorties, and they look best, rather than maxis. The exception is a sleeveless or halter-top summer maxi dress that doesn't have a lot of fabric. And as for me, I wouldn't wear a pair of ballet flats or loafer if you paid me. I am too short and look like I'm standing in a hole. Give me at least a 2 inch heel to feel and look good in my clothes. Love your videos.

I agree with most of your comments. Personally, I couldn't be happier for the "sneaker trend". I never liked the masculine look in women's fashion. Regarding midi/maxi: I like both, but being petite, I think midi length works better. Maxis (depending on fabric) can look overwhelming on me. PROPORTION is super important for petites. That oversized look never worked for me.

Fellow petite here. Agree about the oversize look not working for petites. It simply doesn't. What's worse is that when that's the fashion, the smaller sized among us run out of options. One cannot size down from a size 00. I learned how to sew specificaly so that I could alter clothes to fit.

    • @ritzie3131
      @ritzie3131 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I should brush up my sewing skills at least for minor alterations. I love that I am petite. There are always ways to adapt a “look”. In addition to the ripped jeans, I never thought the cold-shoulder tops were particularly flattering. Thankfully, they came and went fast. I don’t exactly hold to monochrome dressing, but I absolutely like a pop of color.

Maxi length dresses and skirts are difficult for petites. As are midi-lengths. I wear all lengths of skirts, but most of my dresses and skirts are between mini and just below the knee. I have a few maxi length skirts and dresses that I absolutely love. There are days when I just feel romantic and love a flowy ankle length skirt. But they don't look the best on me (I'm 5'1").

I feel like my legs are among my better features and so if I am going to wear a skirt (which I don't do all that often), it seems unfortunate to have it be so long that my legs are not being seen at all. And I also feel like a shorter denim skirt is more comfortable than a long one (which I think can start to feel almost like a hobble skirt even if it has a big slit in it). So i don't know that I am that happy about that trend.

Beautiful hair as always Jamie! I agree with most of what you say. I know the bright pink is going out so I will wear it with another color like blue, grey or black instead of head to toe. Although maxi is in, the longest I can go is a long midi since I am only 5 feet high and I just don't have enough inches to support something a bit longer. That's what is nice about the trends. Sometimes they work out and sometimes we work around them. Thank you for all your hard work in making these. They are so fun and I always look forward to what you share!

Great video! I love both, maxi dresses and midi and I am glad the baggy oversized styles are not trending anymore. The most important part of anything you wear is really the color. If it is not aligned with your True Color Type, no perfect fit or fabric will make up for that. It is the next big trend: custom color analysis and no more generic color analysis like the Seasonal Color Analysis.

what bothers me about flats being in style is that platform/chunky is out and the low-profile is in... yet I feel like a statement sole lends itself to wider-bottom pants. so I'm kinda disappointed that wide leg is supposed to be paired with shoes that practically disappear... it feels out of balance

Yes to most, I think white button down is still going strong, maybe more relaxed. I loved récent Dior collection look- white shirt, rolled sleeves and midi straight black skirt( skirt of little bit crinkled fabric) its still classic but with a twist, more casual. Now barbie pink. So I got last year dress kind of bright pink, not over the top. Didn’t have chance to wear , so yes I am going wear this spring or soon, cause I live in SF. I definitely getting ballet flats or Mary Janes . Love to wear with shorter dresses. Have a blessed day🙏❤️

I’m not too mad at the button up shirt as I place it underneath my jackets and sweaters but grateful for the variety coming out in 2024. I’m excited for the bows coming out too! I love ballet flats but I’d pair them with trouser socks this winter season.

I agree with all of the trends you said were leaving. Oversized adds weight; no matter which way you style it. This style suited the super thin. Legs in jeans need to be a little bit relaxed, and jeggings are not pants. I have seen too many backsides; some were brow raisers and in poor taste. Kitten heels are always a nice look.

My favorite is the first outfit you had on 🥰The oversized camel toned blazer, and there was a sweatshirt layered underneath it with another matching cream top… I can’t find any of those extra items, including the jeans and the boots in your descriptions. I saw the jacket but that was it. Can you please let us know where those other items Can be purchased?
It’s so much easier for us to find the products when you categorize them as outfit number one, outfit, number two, outfit, number three, etc. because I’m not sure which jeans you had on, but I really liked the style.
    Thank you so much!

I never liked the big boxy look of oversized garments as I tend to lean toward a more classic fit. I love button down shirts of various colors and styles. You just can't go wrong when your layering, especially darning cooler weather, I love the button down under a classic sweater. I have ditched my skinny jeans in favor of the relaxed straight or wide leg options. I'm totally loving those updated options in 2024.

I’ve seen hemlines SLIGHTLY past the widest part of the leg called “midi” and “ maxi” on retail websites. Wear any skirt that avoids that no go zone wherever it falls on YOU. White plain jane button down shirts, not uber tight and not uber loose, are classic and always in style. Keep it in the closet!

To me, straight maxi skirts look "dumpy", and if the fabric is heavy, such as denim, they feel uncomfortable. Maxi lengths with the lovely flowing dresses you presented are lovely, however.

I bought a lot of Barbie Core Pink, and this is the second 'what's going out of style' video that has said it's going out. Sometimes, when a trend hits really hard like this color, it will always now be related to Barbie 2023. (insert sad face emoji here.)

My take away from this is I am glad I do not follow the trends. A good white shirt will never go out of style, but it should not be one that is super fitted. A maxi skirt is not for everyone. Petit people are overwhelmed by this look, and as someone who is all legs with a short waist this is way too much fabric for me. You would think that longer legs would be able to pull this look off, but the short waist makes the proportions way off. Never been a fan of the huge blazer jackets on women. It makes us look like we are playing dress up with our mothers clothes. However, we all have our own tastes in clothing. There are women out there that pull off any look and look great. I know from years of trial and error and being a recovered fashion slave that I am not one of those women and my wallet thanks me. Thanks for the video, and at the end of the day, wear what makes you happy.

Fun video. ❤.. I feel so flat in flats., although I think they look great on others. I'll stick to my sneakers depending on what Im wearing. I think high heels look best. I had a man stop me just the other day and I was wearing jeans with high heels...he said: "I wish my wife dressed like this". I told him thank you, but not to be too hard on your wife because they'll come off as soon as I get home. "...lol.
    Edit:
I just purchased a silk pink top, and it's not going anywhere.

Hmm Im very torn with this video because with the exception of the overly baggy clothes and the barbie pink.. I wouldnt set any of the so called out of style items aside- plain jane shirts regardless of silhouette is a staple in most people’s closet and it pairs nicely with the so called traditional suiting, kitten hills maybe the in thing but moderate high heels still looks beautiful paired nicely with so called suiting thats out of style.
