Hello there are welcome to the next exciting episode of IELTS Speaking Part 3. Today we are going to be looking at IELTS Part 3 and the TOPIC of BORROWING things.
This is the fourth of a series of IELTS Speaking Part 3 videos.

Useful vocabulary
Borrow Something from Someone
Lend Something to Someone
Examples:
I lent my book to Alan
I lent Alan my book
Give it back = Return it
Things we can borrow from family
Money, phone, school notes, clothes, pen
Things we can Borrow from library / banks
Books, magazines, money, a loan, credit, a mortgage
Borrowed words - have a ‘siesta’ (borrowed from Spanish)
I implored / begged them to lend it to me
They are afraid they will damage or lose it
It might get spoilt
If they lose it, they will have to pay for it
Fork out a lot of money = pay a lot
pay back a fortune = pay back a lot

Intellectual property theft
There is a fine line between borrowing and stealing or plagiarising

Hello Keith, you are such an amazing instructor. I had my IELTS recently and the topics included my house when I was a kid and how it looked like, how it differs from where I currently live. Gifts and sharing gifts, a long car trip, car style or preference of men and women, and government intervention to solve environmental problems!

In my recent speaking exam, I got the questions on INTERNATIONAL CONVENTIONS in part 3 but my cue card was on “Talk about the situation when you were unable to use your cell phone”

I have severe anxiety when it comes to public speaking or when I’m the center of focus while talking. I was still (obviously) nervous on test day but regardless, I had this deep confidence that there wasn’t any possible question I couldn’t speak on.
In my part 2, I didn’t wait 1minute to prepare my answer, I didn’t write a thing on my blank sheet. I just nodded to the examiner that I was ready, she reminded me I had a minute but I affirmed that I was ready to SPEAK.
You are all anyone needs as far as preparation for IELTS speaking goes. God bless you for putting such high quality content out for free. Your method is so simple, beginner-expert friendly and oh that confidence you inspire by your calm demeanour.

Confidence is so important on test day, and I am delighted you had that confidence, so you could show your real ability.
I would like you to help me make it clear to others though, that you must have had a very high level of English before you watched my videos.
I wouldn't want people who are maybe band 5 or 6 to think that they can all just get an 8.5 by only watching my videos.
Learning a language takes a long time and effort.
So my hat off to you for doing so well, and for learning to harness your confidence. I am so pleased for you!

Yes sir, that It is true. Prior to exams, my level of English was actually really good. I’m Nigerian and English is our lingua Franca. Plus, I studied English Language in the University.
Even then, I insist that so far... your manner of teaching is like breaking it down to the simplest crumbs so that if anyone had a chance to improve on their English, it would be through your tutorship.
You cover all aspects NEEDED to excel in the speaking test with reasonable explanations and examples to back it up. You’re a gifted teacher.
Finally, My recommendations; do LOTS of practice speaking tests with your phone’s voice recorder. Get used to hearing yourself (at first my voice was so foreign and startling LOL). Choose a variety of speaking topics and get comfortable speaking. Refer to as much tutorials as you can and find what works for you. Goodluck.

As far as I am concerned, borrowing is a tricky subject when it comes to face IELTS speaking test. From my personal experience, I had to face this subject and I had to pause for about 15 to 30 seconds to prepare a good example! I was nervous at that time, but in the end, I received good band score.
It is really nice to see you covered this subject with thoughtful ideas and various language functions.

Throughout enormous IELTS Speaking materials, I would say Keith is the best teacher ever. Not just for IELTS but he teaches us a real English and language skills. Plus, he is a funny teacher, you never gets bored to watch his video.

You are hilarious Keith. The icing on the cake was when you took examples from words in France, Spain to illustrate "Borrowed" words from other countries. I've loved the "Mont Blanc" pronunciation🤣. Honestly, I have been watching numerous Ielts speaking videos so far. That said, he is the best because his lessons are just what the doctor ordered. They are really indispensable such as I can say expressions for instance, I can't get enough of it, idiomatic expressions It makes my blood boil and so on.
I really like your videos which help me a lot, and I hope I can get a good score on Friday's exam.👍
