- Thanks to everyone who put up with my coping and complaining the past 2 months and watched my streams on Discord. 8'30" seems like the current limit for this matchup (my sum of best splits for each phase is around there). I won't be continuing this grind though, it's time to take a break.
I had a couple runs in the 9'30" range that I actually think look way better, show off neat punishes, and have more fluid movement, but P1+2 was just way faster in this run. I should've been able to play better and get 9'05", but I'm not really complaining - this is beyond what I was aiming for with sub-9'30".
The WR at the time of this run was 9'19" ( • MHWI PC insect glaive... ) by the runner 艾莉森森子, which has a better build/script for a potential sub-9 run (coal 3, pb 1, plus a mount to make Fatty land instantly in P3). Safe to say that they will turbo-dunk this time and upload sub-9 in the near future (edit: 8'52" by them here • MHWI PC 操虫棍 TA Wiki ミラ... ). I definitely learned a lot from their runs as well as Dayoshi's 9'29" ( • MHWI PC 操虫棍 TA Wiki ミラ... ) when I revisited Fatty.

beautiful run! congrats and really really nice p1. I wanted to ask, I've been running frostcraft with a build similar to the freestyle wr, and I'd like to know your opinion on it and why isn't it considered in TA?
It has been considered in TA before, but IMO it doesn't work as well as the standard fatty set. Early on (like Oct-Dec 2020) Crukkz got some really fast runs with FC IG for that time, around 12 min. The problem is in a good TA run, IG will pretty much never sheathe. Especially in P3 where you're looking to be super aggressive and chaining DT punishes + ground combos on the chest, the only benefit you'll get out of FC is on the nova DT punishes. The TA matchup has also evolved quite a bit since 2020-21, when it was almost exclusively cone bait. Now everyone's poking on the single fireballs, poking on the line attacks, etc. so FC will have very little uptime. I tried FC TA for quite a while but could never get great results with it (best was in the high 10 min range). Other things that hold it back are low affinity (making latent power uptime even more important), lack of QoL - no evade window/health boost so you can't gamble a lot of the riskier punishes, no sharpness maintenance so you need to rely on handi 3 (60 units of purple) and need to sharpen every nova, which eats into your ability to rebuff effectively. The freestyle WR is also really old at this point - there's a lot of well optimized punishes in that run and FC felyne heroics is very hard to pull off on IG, but I wouldn't be surprised if normal heroics can match that time now (although FC felyne heroics can definitely go way faster and is still probably the best for pushing WR).

Not many compared to my kill counts on other monsters - I probably had around 500 kills at around the time I posted this run, which is pretty low for how long he's been out and compared to how many kills a lot of other people have racked up.
How come you didnt get hit with that fire explosion when you flew. I am pretty sure that will hit you

Nah that doesn't hit, the explosion doesn't reach as high as you think. Though that example is about as tight as you can time it without getting hit - you can see that the character model is just above the hitbox when it detonates.
ow ok as far as i can remember that it can still hit you when you are in the air

if you vault any later than in that clip at 3:17, yes you'll get hit. that's about as late as you can time it and still get it off.
