    I'm amazed at how you guys can put details that I find hard to create even when I bump the resolution to the skies!!
    Keep up the awesome job!!!

    How do I weld my subtools ? My models have ugly cracks and unnecessary folds? I am brand new to Zbrush; I know 3ds max has so many easy to use tools to weld polygons together but Zbrush is a different beast. Thank u guys rock I learned-ing Zbrush from u2 ✌🏼

    For a purpose of smoothing I found that relax (alt. smooth) with proper (like zremeshed) topology works better :)

      @sajans3998 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean?Can u explain more?

    • @ItsTeaMagic
      @ItsTeaMagic 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sajans3998 mostly all brushes have alternative mode. It activities by holding alt key while making a stroke with brush. Alternative mode for smooth brush works like a relax. Relax works like if you want to spread topology evenly on top of your object trying to maintain shape as much as topology can provide

    Fantastic video as always. i´ve got a question, i´m actually finishing my students on 3D and know a bit of everithyng model low and high poly, render, retopo, texture, animatio etc, and want to look for some work on studios but, what should i put on my portfolio, i mean, i am a 3D generalist? or a 3D modeler?, a 3D artist? i want to work as a character artist, but i´m not a character artist actually because don´t have any real expirience on studios so what should i put?

    • @FlippedNormals
      @FlippedNormals  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd probably put '3D Artist' in the description and then work more as a generalist - then focus on becoming a character artist as your career progresses.

    two guys with a strong grasp in anatomy saying you don't need anatomy. YOU ABSOLUTELY DO!!! most of the time when you look at reference you'll see a lot of blobs if you don't know what they are, and you won't make any sense of the muscles in different people and poses.
    step one, learn anatomy, then do what they say

    • @FlippedNormals
      @FlippedNormals  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think you might be missing our point: You absolutely need to know your anatomy, but knowing the specific names isn't strictly speaking necessary. It's far more important to have a good grasp of the big shapes and how they work, at least as you're starting out.
      What specific part of what we were saying do you have an issue with? I'd love to elaborate.
      /Henning

    When you smooth out the mesh. What percentage do you keep it at when smoothing? 100%? 50%?, or 40%?

    • @FlippedNormals
      @FlippedNormals  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty low intensity, maybe around 40% - and with a low pressure on the hand.

  • @TheRabidgoalie

    I don't know if this will be of much use to anyone, but Complete Anatomy by 3D4Medical is a really good tool that will allow you to view different layers of the anatomy. It is primarily for medical students and it basically allows you to 'dissect' the human body, but not in a "we are totally going to prison for this" way. I purchased the 2018 version and it looks like they switched to a subscription based approach, but there is a free version that you can check out. I don't know what features the free version has, since I do have a license for it (apparently), but it is free so it may be worth a look.

    Could we get another video on surface anatomy? Cuz i feel like I know muscles, bones, but how do I make it look NATURAL. YOu did touched on it in this video, but I would love to see more, or perhaps get some guidance where to look further into it. Also, Link your discord please? Games like Fortnite use protruded muscles as their art form!
    So what would you say on using the muscles the mesh had as form of stylised character!

    • @FlippedNormals

      Honestly, we just look at a lot of reference. There are some general human guides, but just match your characters up with some good reference :)

    • @nxtlvl2116
      @nxtlvl2116 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes u don't need to get it right in mm just use ur eye if u feel something wrong that mean something wrong keep tweaking if is hard for u use tranpose

    • @kloa4219
      @kloa4219 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use reference, draw frequently to get a good feel, or count by heads. Here's how I measure them:
      Head-->Mandible-->Nipple-->Middle of rectus Abdominis-->bottom of rectus abdominis-->middle of rectus femoris-->bottom of patella/kneecap-->bottom of gastrocnemius-->bottom of feet

    How important is it really to know the names of the muscles?

    • @FlippedNormals
      @FlippedNormals  6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I like to think of knowing the names like knowing street names in a city. You can totally know the city without knowing any street names, but it's a lot easier to talk about specific parts if you know the names. It's the same with anatomy terms. If I say "ehh the middle forearm muscle" its not very specific, but if I say "extensor digitorum", people who know the terms will know exactly what I'm speaking of.
      It's more important to know the function, shape and placement of the muscles than their individual names, but it does help.
      Hope this sheds some light on it! :)
      /H

    • @JB-wr3ri
      @JB-wr3ri 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It helps a lot. I was also wondering does that hurt you in the industry if you don't know the names of the specific muscles?

    • @FlippedNormals
      @FlippedNormals  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      One of the best sculptors Ive ever met didnt know most of the names, he just knew the shapes. He did fine. That said, everything helps - whatever edge you can have on your competition will help you.

    ...and in the end after all that 'natural look' talking, this model still look ripped x) So this is just another example of anatomy-to-not-follow-too-much lol smooth it up !

    • @FlippedNormals
      @FlippedNormals  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh, the model can can still look ripped - the point we're trying to make is that it can look ripped and natural, while before, it''s lacking a lot of skin and natural features :) Hope that clears it up.

    This is just excessive movement I'm sure you could've just polished (not smooth) everything and lightly gone over areas with a lazy stroked dam standard. It's often the case for good results to work smarter not harder. But an insightful lecture nonetheless.

    one person speaking is always ok. but theres something about hearing two people you can't see is extremely irritating, don't know why. makes your videos almost impossible to sit through. can you guys take turns making videos or something?
