Hi. It's Melissa Etheridge and i'm gonna teach you how to play
a little bit of "bring me some water".
Now bring me some water was a song I wrote in the eighties I remember sitting in my living room and actually going through this I won't go into detail about who was breaking my heart so much but I will tell you that I wanted to write a bluesy song I wanted to - I wanted it to be like those old bluesy man-you-done-me-wrong songs so I started with that and the thing that makes bring me some water is that I am holding the Octave here there is an Octave A so it's the it's the fifth string down here. That's the A-Octave here. So I just go back
    and forth between two threads below the G and the A and it's on the Off-Beat. So you have 1 .. 2 .. 3 .. 4 ..
I don't even know what to do because I do it so often.
so you you hammer off these notes right here. And you just keep going and then when it goes to the D it's the same figure is just the next string over.
    So it starts in A
    "Tonight I feel so weak"
"But all in love is fair."
And that's all it is for a long time
    "... cheek "
"and I feel ...." and it stops and you gonna go up the D ....
"foul night air. and i know ... "
    "you're only human "
    "And I haven't got talking room "
back to A. Back up to D ...
"tonight while I'm making excuses ... "and you got the E
    which is right there
"some other woman is making love to you"
and the Chorus is just A - G and D
    A - G and D
    and then ... the E ---
    very simple blues song.
    thank you so much. ENJOY!
