Hey y'all. I made a impromptu stop by my goodwill on the way to pick up some pizza and the first end cap I looked on had a vintage rose tree gallery iridescent swirl oil candle for 2 bucks signed and dated. I couldn't pick it up fast enough it is beautiful.
You definitely could put a lock on that trunk & store things in it for the baby that you don’t use often & just keep it locked & use as a cute display for a blanket on top & some stuffies. It goes so good with the shelf.
To make the toy box kid friendly you can buy metal safety brackets just for that purpose. They are installed to keep the lid from closing on little fingers I bought two vintage toy boxes for my 3 kids 20 years ago and with the safety brackets I can save them for future grandchildren Lobe your videos!

Very sweet wicker for the baby room. There is a way to add slivers of wood or felt to the lid of the toy chest to protect little fingers. I’m sure you could google it! Great finds!
In Bible school one summer we made the copper Jesus like that and then we also made praying hands. You can take the lid and attach it to the wall of the toy box so it wouldn't fall down. Or you can just use it for storage extra blankets in that kind of stuff. And when she gets older you can paint it a different color and I have it in her big girl room.
Awesome score for your baby! BTW, I've been able to easily remove utensil marks from pottery, stoneware, etc (like the Fiesta) with barkeepers friend. Use a magic eraser with it and it will look almost new. (just did this with some longaberger pottery bowls I picked up at a goodwill)
The blue glass lamp shade I wouldn’t be able to resist. I bought 2 Amber colored ones from the thrift and i have the bottom to bottom in my mantle and made a huge “fairy lamp “ out of them ❤️
Use the trunk for storage in the babies room. Doesn't need to be toys clothes she doesn't fit yet or spare blankets etc. You'll find a use. I think those two items the shelf and the trunk are beautiful. You now need a wicker seat the go with them.
Store next season bigger clothes and advanced toys in the chest, maybe switch the latch to a locking one. Such a nice find. Oh, connect the shelf to the wall.
The trunk is a great buy. If you are worried about little fingers. Put a wedge of foam at the back of the top where the top and the bottom meet. It will stop the lid from closing all the way and pinching fingers but not looking ugly like keeping it open. If you want to keep it open. Super glue in the hinges will stop it from closing. Or any kind of glue really. Congrats on the baby girl.
OMG!! I was literally in my Goodwill yesterday here in Florida. I found a wicker trunk not near as nice as yours and they had it priced $29.99!!! I hate our Goodwill's around here.

When I was little I had a gigantic toybox made out of plywood that was painted and had animal decals on it. I think my parents made it, I don’t recall. Anyway, I decided to hide in it when we were playing hide and seek and the plywood lid smashed my thumb and split the fingernail in two. I just remember the pain and there was so much blood! My mom and her cat were completely freaked out. I was maybe six or seven. If you keep that trunk, please put the hinges on it that slowly lower the lid. Little fingers are so delicate

Jocelyn I saw a great shipping tip the other day. You put a plastic bag like kitchen trash bag in bottom of box and fill it with that expandable foam. Then in a box that is big enough then put the object to be shipped on top of the plastic bag before it hardens. then you put another plastic bag on top of items in box and fill it with expandable foam and push it down in the box before it hardens and you have a custom made shipping container that won't move around during transport. You might have to get heavy duty trash bags or use two so the foam won't melt them. I haven't tried it but it looks great. I ship stuff to my sister in Alaska and this was something I remembered seeing. I got some expandable foam from walmart really reasonably priced.
If you wash it with cascade and a little blech the stains come right out. Just don't put it in the dishwasher, soak it in the sink then use a bar rag rinse and dry.
Jocelyn, you just pick up the best things. I love watching you shop. BTW, hang on tight to the sturdy laundry basket for when the new baby is ready to get a bath in the bath tub. My daughter and SIL used it for my grandson to sit in with h2o in the tub while he had his bath. LOL, it was perfect! no falling over into that big tub. They used it for quite some time. He thought it was so funny throw his little friends overboard. :-)

Yes, you can install child safe hinges that won't smash little fingers. It will make a great toybox.
You can add hinges that make for slow close or stays up until you close it.
You can also have it shaved down a small amount were fingers would be , but yet lid is down.

The Boehm plate is likely from the 1970s. It is pronounced "Beem". My aunt's estate was loaded with them. But sadly, they aren't popular any longer.

I’m a great believer in denture cleaning tablets to get rid of stains inside glass or ceramics
