The complexities of how to use the inner mechanics of our mouths to imitate valves, and to hear how lyrically beautiful it sounds in the hands of the right disciple is why I probably should've been a piano player. But you give us hope, and a path, thank you, TEACHER......................................I need to gig, and soon!
I only say to look beyond it, because it’s much more important to focus on the air flow and the end result (in my opinion) - all of our bodies will have to uniquely manipulate the airstream, to match how your mouth is constructed. But these are good places to start!!! I hope you get back out gigging soon, too.... and me too!!! Hahaha
Excellent videos and playing Nick . Un fortunately I have the time only to work on the fundamentals of trombone playing . The Jazz is just what comes out of my head . Happy New Year ..
Yep that’s what happens when you move from an “Ah” syllable to an “eee” syllable. I wouldn’t necessarily focus on the exact mechanics of the tongue (specifically the tongue pushing down) - just focus on how your tongue will naturally create those vowel sounds for you. But what you described seems about right in terms of motion minus the curling down bit
Essential to master for fluency and dnt forget alternate positions
Just ask my students and they’ll tell you how much I talk about alternate positions

About 7 steps . I wonder how Miles would of learned/practiced this tune . On the recording it sounds like He playing from the seat of his pants ...
Do you arch the middle of the tongue as you move up the partials? Does the tip of the tongue curl down against the bottom teeth as you arch higher?
