I have a flute I found in a bookstore. It was only about $5 but I really wanted it. The sound is pretty bad but seeing this video makes me really want to try learning a real flute and make a song.

Just by a basic and cheap one before buying a medium price instruments. It's just practice instruments and abuse it to the fullest. Use the instruments to hit the head. Lol.

I recently found what seems to be a Japanese flute in my studio. Its different than what you are playing in this video. Theres a sound hole right next to where you push the air in with your mouth. If you don’t hold down that hole with your finger, theres no notes, just air. That means you can only use one hand to play the instrument since the other hand can’t move. Dont know what Im asking, I guess Im just confused as to what this instrument is that I have.
I think you may have to cover that note with sticky tape of something to then use two hands… not sure tho good luck!

Hi there. So do you NOT need to take the saddle off and clean it after each use, like we would a wooden flute? The one on your flute looks like it stays put. Thanks!
There is nothing to clean out under the fipple block. Usually it's just hot air forming moisture that can cause the airway to swell some but will dry out naturally. The plastic flutes are more prone to needing the block removed because it does not absorb moisture and builds up standing water blocking the airway. But both can be solved with a real hard breath blown into the flute and also letting it dry out.
Just got a flute for Christmas. If im right handed, should I cover the top 3 holes (holes closest to me) with my right hand or left hand? Im only asking because it feels more natural to do it the opposite of the way you are, but you might be left-handed.

@@LilybandPsalmist Wonderful! Thank you so much! Which one would you recommend for a beginner?? I am learning the Lyre for the 3 and 4 year olds at my Church. The main song to learn first is Amazing Grace. I know Jesus love me on Lyre. Trying to teach them about biblical instruments. ❤
@@SoliDeoGloria7070 do you have small, medium or large hand size. To do Amazing Grace I recommend a major flute. What key signature are you teaching the children for Amazing Grace. I can also produce children's flutes in the major key so they can play along with you. Probably a high C Major would be good as that is a common key.
