Thank you Gina! I have been gifted a Native flute. My heritage is Cherokee. I'm learning more about my roots. I've always wanted a Native flute and at one of our recent church services one of the ladies came up to me and said she had been carrying this flute for over 22 years waiting for God to show her who it belonged to and He told her it was mine. She said the Lord will show you how to play it. I was blown away. I was in tears. I'm looking forward to learning how to play it.
I love my Red Tail Hawk in "G" I got from High Spirits. As flute playing, the Lakota believe keeping your finger over the one hole is a spiritual belief, keeping the finger on it represents our place in the universe. The tree it is made from is Mother Earth and by playing it, it can be a kind of prayer or to help win the heart of the woman you wish to make your wife. As most people that play one probably would agree, that the songs come from within, from the heart. Happy, sad, lonely or to bring happiness and comfort to yourself or others. I believe that all that energy from the song and from the heart goes out in to the Universe. What it becomes I do not know, but I know the Great Sprite hears it. So I can only believe that all songs are prayers...........
Hi Gina. 👋🏾 As a native person I've never played the flute, I've always been quite aware of my failure at musical instruments. But the flute has been speaking to me lately to pick it up. Thank you so much for this wonderfully educational video as well as the information and encouragement to do so.
I bought myself a flute in f# last year and I love it. After the first day I got it I could already play anything I wanted as long as you hold the 3rd finger down.
Thank you Gina for the discount! I just ordered my first flute and I'm so excited! I don't have a musical background, but I love the sound of the Native American flute, plus, you make it look like it's something I could actually learn how to play. XO
@@vihnu I struggled with making a pretty sounding note, but I loved trying. I have asthma and bad allergies so it's kept me from practicing....I look forward to playing in the future because there is just something about it that makes me so happy!
Thanks Gina. A friend gave me a six hole wooden flute he made. He told me to play it just like a recorder. I looked that up on TH-cam. It doesn't seem to fit. Listened to your video, and look forward to seeing more. I'm 83 and work as a camp host 3 days per week. This will entertain me on my days off and drive my wife and the campers crazy. 🤪🥰
The low D is magic. I have my Condor Bass low D, 432 hertz, it's my treasure : ) it's my favorite flute, but have only 1 octave ! Sometimes, I think to buy a Bansuri flute, like Shastro, for enjoy meditation = ) Thank for your video !
i bought my first flute in Cherokee NC a couple years ago, it is a High Spirits in the key of D made of walnut. Its small and has a higher tone, but it is so easy and fun to play. nothing beats sitting in the woods in the hills and listening to the echo. Gotta get a base flute next! Great video, thanks for sharing Gina!
I like Gina so so much. She explains things so very beautifully. I have purchased a couple of High Spirits glue based upon her recommendation. I will get one more - that Aromatic Cedar bass flute.
Thanks for this video! I was in Maine this summer and stopped at a gorgeous scenic overlook in NW Maine, Rangeley Lakes region. A guy was playing a native flute and it got me to thinking ... well I kept thinking about it and found your channel. I ordered and received my High Spirits Sparrow flute (thanks for the discount code!) and am enjoying it! Looking forward to this journey I've embarked on.
I'm really looking forward to the SUPER LOW register of these flutes, which seems to be the Condor Bass in D in aromatic cedar. Even though it is the most expensive bass flute, I am CONFIDANT that this will work for me. Thanks so much, Gina and High Spirits Flutes!
Wow, the scale is built into the instrument. I was not expecting that at all. I was wanting to learn to play the flute but terrified about not being able to figure out which notes to play (I grew up playing a piano and trombone, but was never good at making up notes for ad-lip jazz/swing solos, so I was carrying over that experience onto these flutes, here). It was such a relief when I saw you play the notes in the beginning! I think I'd like the bass flute. As a taller female (5'9" or 5'10", my fingers can stretch a little longer, so I'm sure it'd be okay).
Hey Gina, bought a flute from HS after Watching your video and got it a while ago, and it ofcourse came with a tutorial. However, theres no real tutorials online or any content of notes for these kinds of flutes (at least i haven't found any). Would highly appriciate more videos from this series, with tutorials from famous songs, or possibly links to tutorials for famous songs. NOTE; I have never played a flute in my life until now. For an example Prison Song ( Mask off ) Would be a great song with this, or something popular that everyone can recognize when playing! Anyways love your channel, Stay golden :)
Hi Gina - Another advantage of playing the Native American flute is that, unlike other woodwind instruments, it requires no embouchure to play it. BTW: Has anyone ever told you that you sound just like Nicole Franzel of the reality show “Big Brother”? It’s absolutely uncanny how much your voice and inflection is so identical to Nicole’s. Happy fluting! 😊 🎶
HI GINA! SO GLAD I CAME ACROSS YOUR VIDEO! I JUST ORDERED THE 432mz EARTH TONE, I'M SUPER EXCITED TO START PLAYING. ALSO, THAT'S A NICE DISCOUNT, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I have one that is from high spirit which I bought from a spiritual like shop. Its a very beautifully crafted instrument that is a hawk I have on where the wind comes out.
I want to get a native flute just to play. See I’m a Woodland Cree person, so whenever I’m in the woods, I always feel like there’s something missing. Imagine your sitting on a rock, looking out to the lake, you’re a distance away from a society, no boats are around, just the wind, birds, and waves. Play a flute a right there, and I’m in peace. I just want to feel closer to my ancestors.
You have to get one now cause you will keep hearing flute everywhere and in your head.Just practice up and down the scales till your tired of it,you hear a scretch your not covering the hole good. After you get the scales down, start playing what you hear in the wind the birds, musice is everywhere!
I have a flute from High Spirit flutes. I made the mistake of ordering a flute when I had no idea what I was ordering, it is a D key Bass flute. I then later ordered a smaller one I can handle better.
Hey Gina! Thumbs up, Ma’am. I just got your 15% off my new High Spirit Aromatic Cedar Pocket Flute in G. That plus free shipping? Wow. Very exciting. Many thanks.
Very nice video. You had a very small flute in the background (on the viewers left side) that looks exactly like the first flute I bought at a street fair in Portland Oregon. My first full-sized flute was the High Spirits Crow flute in F# I think. Still my favorite flute! Thanks for sharing.
Where can i buy one of these ? Lately been falling asleep to native flute sounds and it really had me thinking of the old days when there was literally no electronics and i wanna learn to play this
