I bought these exact boots about two years ago through the boot ordering website the company I work for uses. The outsole fell apart in about 4/5 months of use. I work in a food factory and am walking on concrete floors between 8-12 hours a day, I didn’t expect these to break down so fast. Sad because like you said, I purchased them thinking they would be quality because of the brand when in reality they’re just another cheap boot relying on a brand name to sell a crappy product.

I just bought those boots in black for Christmas. My previous work boots were caterpillar, which outlasted everything by years for whatever reason. I couldn't find anyone selling cat, and saw dewalt, and thought a tool/construction company selling a boot must be similar... Insole has already been replaced, and it just doesn't do the same job as my caterpillars which have the steel toe partly exposed. So I still use my cats for hard work thrash days, and my dewalts for light days. While I haven't tried the plethora of boots you've reviewed, I'm would only buy Cats and Ariats if I need a boot. Otherwise I'm heading to your channel if I want to experiment.

For decades Cambrelle has been the synthetic mesh lining that was used in a lot of boots. These alternatives like "aerospace lining" are just subtly different versions that will be a little cheaper than the branded version. Personally I've always found Cambrelle quite good and though it doesn't resist smells as well as a leather lined boot, it stays soft and doesn't form into painful crease points inside the boot as I have had happen with leather lined boots which are repeatedly soaked.

I bought a pair of DeWalt Plasma boots in 2019 and use them to this day. Tons of miles and rough use. The sole at the toe area is barely ungluing, the sole is pretty worn, Most of the tread at the front is gone, I never took care of the upper but it's still holding together. My only real issue that would prevent me from buying another pair is the toe boxing being narrow. I think these boots are relics of the traditional retail market. Manufacturers pay a 1/4 or an 1/8th of what these boots sell for. They ship them to a retailer that marks them up another 50% or so. I’m sure there is some extra margin built in to accommodate sale pricing. I think at some point we’ll see most manufacturers sell their goods directly, and eliminate the markups required for retail stores.

@@Reziac I’m not sure what you mean. But I am aware of Alibaba. Essentially the factories are selling straight to the public. Which makes me think they are simply selling the same products without the labels and packaging.

I wore them for about 3 years everyday. The outsole was plastic but real thick and not "channeled" either like a cheap running shoe from K-mart in 2008. For the past year or so I've been looking for somewhat of a replica. The forefoot was roomy but I ruined the insole on a round trip day trek. There was a steep hill that went for 750-1000ft, though a couple years worn at the time, and the insole lining tore at the heel and forefoot which marked the beginning of the end of its life. If I wore hiking shoes instead that, day it wouldn't have happened.
Nowadays you'll never find Mack boots again, and considering the state of fast fashion and commerce, I'm not buying something like Cat. I need Red Wing mocs this time.

It's a sea of genre off shoes that you've barely touched. Also they're in a style off construction and made from materials where you have expertise and be able to offer valuable opinions.

Thank you for doing a video on these! I emailed you a few months back requesting a video on these (because I love them, I prefer them over my Red Wings actually) and I gotta say, super cool to see what's going on with these boots! I still love them despite their flaws, actually got another pair not too long ago :) Regardless, cheers! Thanks for doing the video!
EDIT: I went and looked, the dual-layer outsole is not peeling for me. Also, they have changed the inserts since I got my first pair, the ones you have are the ones that came in my new pair. Not nearly as comfortable. These are a cheap foam with little to no support, and the old ones are a rubbery, almost silicone feel with ACTUAL arch support. A real shame they went to these new ones....

@@squareoakystewart6870 I couldn't agree more. I purchased Razorbacks back in 2000, have put them through hell and they're holding up like new. A bit hard on the feet out of the box but a good pair of inserts solved that minor problem.

@@squareoakystewart6870 i've been in construction for over a decade and I never had a work boot that lasted me more than 2 years.
For the last few years I started to have at least 2-3 pairs of work boots available at any given time and that helped expand the life of some of them of course because I'm rotating the boots but still none of them were able to withstand the abuse.
Now I'm getting into some of the more expensive brands like Thorogoods to see how they do...
The boot I had from DeWalt was great but it didn't last long. To me, a boot that's under$150 and lasts around 14-18 months in construction...it's a decent/good boot.
But I will definatelly look onto the boots you've mentioned. Thanks for the suggestion👍🏼

I had some of these but black rubber sole and they fell apart after a year of resturant style work. I got mine from shoes for crews they are comfy but not durable. Mine had a hard plastic toe cap that I loved but the inside of the boot failed first then the sole started to come off. Also the leather was cracking and splitting by the time I was done with them. Just upgraded to a carolina boot also from shoes for crews.

i bought a cheap pair of survivors. i knew going in i wasn't going to get a quality boot. i just wanted something comfortable, cheap and good enough for the weekend activities. they are all 3, no doubt. they're glued of course but the molding on the sole gave me a laugh. they have a welt molded into the sole. they're soft on my feet and knees while walking though and were just $60. if they make it a year, i'll gladly buy them again. again just for the weekends when getting into stuff i wouldn't want a normal shoe for.

I would love to see you do a pair of Hanwag Double Stitch hiking boots. Their heritage appeal is off the charts being made in Germany using a unique style of double sole stitching, but they're not ridiculously heavy like old school hikers - 4 lbs a pair for 11.5 US which is only a bit more than other robust modern cemented boots. They also have pretty much all the things you might look for in a great work boot too. They do use fiber lasting boards but given their lack of corner cutting otherwise I'm guessing they have a good reason.

I like this channel and Project Farm a lot. Both are great for us consumers who want the best quality for the best price. Can you review the Wolverine Bandits??? I have some that my employer paid for that were around $150. The first pair I got were the lace up style and the second was the slip ons. Both are very light and comfortable and seem to have worn fairly well during use. But they are very light having the composite toe as opposed to the steel toe but I also would like a professional review of the quality of the other materials. Thanks again for the honest reviews. I personally appreciate the these kind of reviews.

The only boots I love buying are brahmas from walmart. Cheap as fuck and comfortable too. They are waterproof til they are trashed. Each boot I brought costed me 19.93 plus tax and spending that much once a year on boots is SMART vs wasting 200 or whatever every year or so. In other words all these major boots company build theirs the same as brahma with literally identical materials but are insanely marked up simply for its brand name.

I watch the channel quite a bit and actually own these exact boots so I was excited to see the review. I’m gonna have to strongly disagree. I have had mine for about 2 years and put hundreds of miles on them on concrete (auto service). The liner does actually breathe well and provide some additional comfort and I have had ZERO issue with material separation anywhere on the boot. I got mine for about $100 after comparing them to about 6 other steel toe work boot. That major factor that you left out is comfort. I chose these boots when I did simply because they felt very comfortable right out of the box and they have held up incredibly well. I would absolutely recommend these boots without hesitation. I am disappointed to see that the welt is fake, but still very satisfied with the boot and how they’ve held up over time.

Sometimes is it not the fact that it is glued that is the issue, it is the quality of the glue job!
The reality is that most boots on the market are going to be glued. I am required to wear composite toed boots and receive $150 every 18 months for those shoes. I am hoping to add some of my own funds to improve the quality of my next pair, but the reality is, to get the $150 I have to use the approved vendor. They do not have a lot of welted boots to choose from.
