I went into rehab right when covid hit. The center took photos when a client checks in. I was in horrible shape very close to death. Thats not my opinion its the opinion of the doctors and nurses treating me. I had just finished 5 days,at detox. Anyway I was 58 at the time and my before photo i didn't look a day over 80. Soooo bad. A wreck. Today I'm 61 and easily pass for 45. I went from being wheeled into detox because I couldn't walk to running a full marathon last October. Alcohol is poison. It can and will kill a person if they let it happen. Recovery is definitely possible. I'm proof. Help is available.

Bob, getting processed carbs out of your diet will help! Try keto, carnivore, or just low carb with whole foods. This has helped me.

I agree about people quitting drinking, but I would be remiss not to remind you to make sure that you make a disclosure that if you’ve been drinking for a very long time it’s likely that you’re going to need detox quitting alcohol if you’re an alcoholic or benzodiazepines are the only two drugs that can kill you if you don’t go through detox. So anybody on this thread who drinks to severity and has done it for quite a while just don’t stop drinking make sure you get into a detox please

  • @JavierCespedes90

Totally agree with this. When I quit drinking, after 1 month, I noticed that my face looked a lot better, and after 3-4 months, it looked like my face went back in time 8 years. I've been 7 months sober now.

I'm 62 and never drank alcohol. I do notice a physical difference with women my age who drink. I'm healthy, vibrant and active. great skin, almost no wrinkles. The most important thing for me is that I was always "present and alert" in my life. always in a state of consciousness witch helped me through so much. Life is intense enough without blurring it with alcohol. I'm happy mentalities are evolving, alcohol was over rated and glorified for so long, I'll spare you what people would say and do to get me drinking! I'm cheering for all of you and wish you a life of authenticity and 'presence'.

I’m 23 stopped drinking a few days ago. I would drink wine all day everyday for the past 2 years and I notice how much weight I’ve gained. My face looks so puffy my stomach is super bloated and I just look and feel gross and like a whole different person. And I wasn’t eating any differently so I didn’t understand why I had put on so much weight. After about 6 days now obviously I’m not back to how I use to look but I already can see my face and my stomach shrinking back to normal size. I’m ready to get back to my normal self and old size

I quit drinking for 6 months as a precaution because I was starting to binge drink. Last year was super bad...I'd drink almost every day and once I started, I couldn't stop. I spoke to my psychologist and we made this treatment plan of taking anti craving meds and quit cold turkey and omg....I lost 11kg (24 pounds) in 3 months. YES, THREE MONTHS. My body felt so much lighter, stronger and healthier overall. My skin looks better, I'm thin again and I just feel amazing. For the first time in my life I feel pretty and happy with myself. Quitting alcohol was the best thing I've ever done.

This video was very inspirational❤️ I’m 1month sober and I feel great! It’s very hard because I use to look forward to drinking to feel better about myself, and now I’m doing it alone with out alcohol! So I just keep telling myself this and installing it in my brain when I start feeling a little down about not drinking to feel good”,,,alcohol is poison” alcohol is a liar” and that just makes the feeling go away and at the end it just empowers me more to continue my journey to be SOBER AND TO LOVE MYSELF WITHOUT ALCOHOL because it’s a bad bad substance that just makes you not be yourself and it eats at your brain slowly…

Subscriber from the UK here. From the ages of 18 to mid thirties I had a gradually worsening drink problem that had become something resembling alcoholism. I am currently on day 50 of no booze, after numerous attempts to quit. My new interests are Tim Hortons French Vanilla Lattes, and going to the gym everyday before work to try and create a healthy routine. In the past I would drink a 5 pint bottle of cider before going on a night out, or an entire bottle of port. The warning signs were buying miniature bottles of spirits from shops whilst on the way to the bars, drinking them in the street. This then became combined with having Jack Daniels chasers with my beers. I then graduated to carrying a hip flask. I am committed to forever quitting alcohol now, but it is still relatively early days as I have quit in the past.

Nice to meet you Steph! I wished I wouldve quit in my 20’s, I am 37 now. I am at 18 AF today. I did 3.5 months last year and my boredom broke me and I went back to my typical weekend night binge drinking ways lol. One other factor that led me to start again, was the lack of benefits everyone else said they had, that I didnt. Yeah i slept better and lost a little belly fat but that was about it. Never got more energy and all the other ones. I figured if I didn’t receive those benefits at 3.5 months then I never would. Maybe it just wasnt long enough since I have been drinking alcohol for a long time. Im actually wanting to be AF for good this time though, even if I dont get ANY benefits. Anyways, thank you so much for the video! Hope you are still AF and thriving!

So at aged 71 yrs to be able to show myself wearing just a little concealer is a massive change! And I wasn't drinking heavily over past couple of years just wine at weekends 1 bottle shared with Husband 0ne or two nights or one gin an tonic before dinner. However, I have drunk regularly and sometimes too heavily throughout my adult life so I am not boasting.

Steph, you have taught me so much. I'm not sober but I have had a tumultuous relationship with alcohol for most of my life, I'm 23 now and just so much more thoughtful as to when & why I consume alcohol. I drink way less now and am more thoughtful about how bad it is for me and it's made it a lot easier to say no. I am sure one day I will give it up for good. Thank you so much and you are an inspiration

I gave up drinking after 20 years. It started to affect my work, so I gave it up. I am 6 days ago. I am hoping to go 6 months. I started to drink non-alcoholic beer. Is this a healthy alternative ?

It's definitely healthy physically if you look into the actual benefits of the drink itself and has helped me stay sober also I just like beer always have but experts detour people in recovery from drinking it because of it being a trigger to start drinking again but in my opinion since it helps me I would say do your own research on benefits of the actual drink and the warnings from experts on the mental effects of it. I honestly had anxiety when I first quit cuz I knew I would miss beer then I drank a bottle of odouls with some Mexican food and I was instantly relieved and happy cuz now I didn't have to go the rest of my life without the taste of beer but knew I could now go without alcohol total blessing wish I would have made the change years ago good luck I hope that helps you somewhat

I am 77 days sober. Just watched this. Your strength and honesty are truly inspiring. It's amazing to see how you've navigated your relationship with alcohol and found clarity and purpose. Your testimony is a powerful reminder that we can indeed feel our emotions and achieve great things without relying on substances.
I admire your resilience and the way you've embraced God's guidance in your life. Your message is uplifting and encouraging, showing that transformation is possible. Keep shining and sharing your light-you never know who might need to hear your story today.
