"What else is Argentina known for apart from football?"
Well, as a Czech, i say literature. Borges, Bioy Casares, Sábato...Julio Cortázar is one of my favourite writers.

As an Argentinian I'd also mention our Nobel prize winners Luis Federico Leloir and César Milstein; musicians like Atahualpa Yupanqui, Mercedes Sosa, Jorge Cafrune, Astor Piazzolla, Aníbal Troilo, Luis Alberto Spinetta, Charly García and myriads of others; bands likes Manal, Sui Generis, Vox Dei, Pescado Rabioso, Soda Stereo, Sumo, Patricio Rey y sus redonditos de Ricota and others; artists like Quinquela Martín, Antonio Berni, Emilio Pettorutti, Xul Solar -- I could go on but it's late (forgot to add José Hernández, author of 'Martín Fierro). Thank you for your comment, it really bothers me when people who have a cursory knowledge of our culture make statements like Mr. Wilson's. It's also annoying that he critically analyzes Argentinian football and somehow isn't capable of doing the same with English football and its' holy cows ('fair play', etc.). He also fails to mention that Maradona was heavily criticized in Argentina for rubbing shoulders with people like Fidel Castro and Nicolás Maduro, and also for his alleged paedophilia.

I am from Bueenos Aires and I must say that Wilson´s book (2016) is excellent. His vision of our football culture is unique, witty, very British but also with a fine admiration. I hope he expands the 2nd edition with the outsanding events that concluded with the Third World Cup for Argentina. The interview is fantastic and I´ve enjoyed it very much. Top British journalism

I think the change occured starting in the 2018 Copa America. Argentina lost to Brazil, there was a couple of dubious no calls but Messi was very vocal. To criticize Messi's loyalty was always ridiculous. When the AFA was rudderless Messi paid the team's security guards out of his own pocket. He is the one that organized the media strike when the players were being unfairly slandered by the media. This is aside from him carrying his country on his back time and again. They never would have even qualified for the 2018 WC without Messi's heroics

When i think of Pekerman i remember how he never brought Messi in against Germany in 2006. I was literally screaminy at me TV. The players for both teams were worn out. Bringing a young electric Messi in would have torched them. Messi had a wonderful opportunity to be a WC winner as a 17 year old kid!

All teams can and will play dirty depending on the scenario. Somehow this image of Argentina and South Americans being dirty or aggressive just keeps getting rehashed like a racist or xenophobic stereotype. Argentina had one game where there was violence and it was, surprise surprise, against Netherlands who are renown for shithousery and were the main instigators. You even briefly went over England's violent gameplay in 1986 but somehow it always devolves into South Americans and somehow it's ingrained in their style. Seriously, take a step back and look at that objectively.

A legitimate organisation that is trying to help construction workers in Qatar is... Equidem
    ..... ....................... ........ .....
Football fans should try and help the mistreated workers who built the stadiums and hotels.

It was ok, another foreign point of view, until 30:28 ....a typical british prejudice. Sheer ignorance. That usual way of looking down other cultures.... I can pick out of my head a couple of things to you: 1.Che Guevara and 2.Evita (the real ones not the BS ones from the english musical), like them or hate them, they made an impact in history (Guevara born in Rosario btw); 3.Juan Perón, who is largely loved and hated in same amounts, caught the attention of world superpowers back in the day, for good and very bad reasons; 4.Nobel Prizes; 5.Juan Manuel Fangio 5 times F1 world champion; 6.Manu Ginobili and argentina being a powerhouse in world basketball; 7. argentina winning the Davis Cup on british soil 8.Buenos Aires is one of the most culturally active cities in the world; 9. Argentina being a tourist destination because of the landscape diversity and vasteness. 10. the writer Jorge Luis Borges, ask any person in the world who knows a bit about literature who he is and how his work is studied and respected everywhere.
    J. Wilson, you don´t have to know this but if you want to make a statement, do some reasearch first or at least say "i don´t know". How would you react to someone saying "what else is england known for? The Beatles and atrocious colonialism?"

AND WHEN YOU SAY THAT THE ENGLISH ARE VERY REPECTFUL OF FAIR PLAY,WHAT HAPPENED IN 1966 WITH THE UNBELIEVABLE RED CARD TO RATTIN,THE GHOST GOAL IN THE FINAL,THE PENALTIES INVENTED BY OWEN IN 1998 AND 2002! AGAINST ARG!THE WAY MARADONA WAS CONSTANTLY FOULED EVEN WITH ELBOWS(FENWICK HAD ALREADY YELLOW CARD MIN 40 FIRST HALF) TO THE FACE IN 1986!!
