  • The Ringer’s J. Kyle Mann takes his signature deep dive into Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green. He breaks down how Green became a dominant force on the defensive end of the floor, how he fit into the Warriors' historic offenses during their championship runs, and how he continues to shape his legacy during the next part of his career.

      Draymond isn’t just “inefficient”, he’s somewhat of an offensive black hole for the warriors. I don’t think people realize how many big men in this league would die for a chance to play as Steph currys screen setter. Draymond literally gets left wide open to do whatever he wants when teams trap curry off every pick and roll. We’re not asking draymond to go get the ball and cook someone on an iso here. We’re asking him to have the slightest confidence to occasionally attack the rim strong or make a few 3’s with LITERALLY NOBODY around him.

    Great insight by Mr. Dime Drop himself! Count me as deeply appreciating Dray. Using "Thinking Basketball" terminology, I feel like he's a catalyst and ceiling raiser for a team rather than a floor raiser. When people reason, "put him on a team by himself and he's nothing," it miscasts his capabilities and what makes him a great team player.

Most of the players in the NBA are all about me, me, me. Draymond was drafted 2nd round, and he knew from day, if he put his work ethic into getting elite at everything other players couldn't be bother to do.. he would find a spot on the team and help them win bc it allowed him to embrace his role 100%

    I'll remember Green dropping 32 points, 15 boards and 9 assists (with 2 steals; 6/8 from three) in the Game 7 they lost to the Cavs. He's rightly remembered for the Game 5 suspension, but he definitely showed out when the entire season came down to a single game. • @kjbhargava
    @kjbhargava 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well said. Draymond has the court vision of a point guard and that's what helps him develop the acute awareness on when to attack passing lanes and disrupt players in momentum. It's that same court vision that let's him anticipate passes and make him a lethal passing forward. It's the same skill used exceptionally well on both ends of the floor. And most importantly, that kind of vision and insight is made in the film room. There are lots of stories about how Draymond knows the opponents plays and 'ticks' because of film and study. The guy studies the game similar to how Rodman studied rebounding trajectory: with precision and relentless dedication. But I don't think he can ever be underappreciated. He may not win DPOY every year (which even KD and dozens of NBA players said is a joke because it's more about how media views players rather than basketball wizards understanding the intricacies of defensive schemes and coverage) but nobody can talk about the Warrior's dynasty without mentioning DG's impact.

      Yeah fr he talks too much shit sometimes so people don’t like him and call him overrated but at the same time most casual nba fans are too fucking stupid to realize that Draymond does so many things that have a big impact on winning. Draymond is a great competitor that is very unselfish, he’s ride or die for his teammates and he makes winning plays. He does so many things in games that don’t get counted on a box score but that ultimately lead his team to success. I’ve always had a great appreciation for his game and even though his impact would be diminished without star players he also makes star players better at the same time by making great passes and being willing to play great defense and do the dirty work. He understands his role and every kid playing basketball needs to take example from Draymond Green
