    I had not thought of using stabilizer as a way to manipulate the position of the thread(s)!
    Thank you so much for sharing.

    Video was very helpful. Thanks for the tips on the tools and materials used. The 12 weight thread was my particular question and you gave me good information on..yes I can use it...and how it looks in a project.
    Hope you enjoyed the Baby Lock classes and do many more videos.

    This is great if I had the same machine. Since I don't I'm as in the dark as to how to set up a machine to do this stitch as I was before I watched it.

      well thank you very much for watching....another video was posted using the double fold bias binder in case you've tried that attachment. A little more 'challenging' to use in my opinion but it's all a 'learning curve'...we've 'just gotta do it'...thanks again!

      Glenda Marsh I can't wait to try the blanket stitch foot. So excited! I think I'll begin with this one! But I'll be sure and look up your other projects. I really think that washing the project before gifting it is very nice. Thanks for adding a touch of care to the overall project. By the way, I took a class and finally understand the subsidiary looper. :)

    Thank you for a very helpful video. I am having more luck learning new techniques for my Evolution on You Tube than with my closest Babylock dealer that is 3 hours away. I hope you post more instructional videos!

      thank YOU! I know that 'long drive' feeling for dealers who are really good! I've also posted a video on using the double fold bias binder which to me is 'a little more challenging' to do!! see what you think if you've not tried that attachment yet! thanks again for your comment...

    Kelly. I used 01 needle which actually is threaded through the 01 upper looper port & pulled out of of ports & threaded up through to the needle. Looper threaded as indicated. I always refer to my Quick Reference guide so look at that card for the unusual thread path for this project. If you don't have a BLock serger I'm not sure of settings etc. Hope this helps. Try it out on a little sample. And if you have the BLock inspiration guide for serger accessories & attachments ck page 47😀

    @vickie Gillespie and any other viewers who thought this video was not helpful because your machine is different: Basically, if I understand right, this blanket stitch is similar to a 2-thread flat lock stitch. You need to look in your user manual for how to set up your machine for this stitch. (2 thread flatlock). Often with 2-thread stitches there is some small metal thing you put over one looper to fool the machine into thinking both loopers are in use. Your user manual will tell you-- also, be aware some machines can't do a 2-thread stitch.
    After you set up your machine, you can use the same sewing technique shown in this video, with water soluble stabilizer, etc. hope this comment helps.

      +Gerrie Louden thanks for comments Gerrie...yes, this is similar to 2 thread flat lock depending on one's serger...although on this demo I used our Quick Reference Threading Guide for the 2 thread Blanket Stitch....& I must say I am not familiar with sergers other than the Evolution & now the Ovation...but I agree, we all need to refer to & double check our manuals & threading charts!

    • @Carol-Bell
      @Carol-Bell 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just got an Ovation in December, and I love it! And so I've been looking for "how to" videos. I had a Juki before -- good machine, but nowhere near as easy as the Babylock sergers to thread and set up for various stitches.
      Did you use two layers of flannel to make the actual blanket?

    Lisa. On the evolution there is a small knob that you turn to move blade down, ie so it doesn't cut, & lock it in place. Hope this helps. This is a fun project/method for quick gift!! Thanks for responding

    Thanks, great video. Can you please explain "locking the blade"? It wasn't clear how you did that.

    • @glendamarsh9452
      @glendamarsh9452  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      on the evolution & ovation (& probably on the other type sergers??!!), I turn that knob that raises & lowers the cutting blade to 'lock' which indicates blade is down & not cutting fabric.

    I have a very basic 4 thread serger with differential feed. Can I still do this? If I understand it, you are using the left needle and just the upper looper. Is that correct?

    • @glendamarsh9452
      @glendamarsh9452  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kelley Poulos sorry for delay in responding to your question! I have to say I am really not familiar w/ sergers other than the evolution & ovation...so I'm not the best person to ask. If your guide or manual gives instructions for a 2 thread wide flatlock, which threads the O1 needle thread through the 'upper looper' slot, & 'closes' the subsidiary looper, you should be able to try this...but please look through your manual &/or threading chart. (I use mine every time I do a project of any kind!!)

    • @glendamarsh9452

      patricia himel I used O1 needle. The decorative thread goes into upper looper threading port but then port is opened & that thread is pulled out at bottom & brought up through the needle threading area. If you have an Evolution or Ovation look at the picture on the Quick Reference Threading Guide & use 2-thread Blanket Stitch settings. I'm not familiar with other brands. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

      Vickie, I’ve upgraded from Evolution. Loved it when I had it due to ease of threading. I’m now using Triumph which I love even more. Needle insertion is easier & with a wider throat space. Evolution would be a great one to start with. Have fun!! Thanks for watching this😊

    I never see anyone explaining how to secure the ends on any sergered project. I need help with options on securing the beginning and end to avoid unraveling. I have watched a lot of tutorials and no one explains that.

    • @glendamarsh9452
      @glendamarsh9452  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I generally thread the finishing threads back under the looper threads of the last several stitches I finished OR between the layers of fabric if possible. I'm heading off to that BabyLock Serger Getaway which starts Tues. & hoping to get more ideas on such.
      The other option I've done is when I get to where I started: I let cutter 'cut off' those starting threads, lock my blade down & continue stitching several stitches over my beginning ones before serging off & then just cutting off those extra threads. If you feel it's necessary, use a clear or dries clear seam sealant on this finished part....Hope THAT makes sense!!??

      Yes, and thank you. I never expected such a quick response. Have fun and be safe. Again, thank you.
