I CAN VISULIZE MYSELF DANCING TO THIS FANTASTIC SONG , 21 YEARS OLD, LOVELY DRESS & STILLETTOS, THE DANCING QUEEN , YOUNG , SLIM , GORGEOUS & CAREFREE . HOW DO I GET THOSE TIMES BACK,,,,,,,,,,,,
There's a pretty high quality video of Funkapolitan performing As Time Goes By on TH-cam which I never expected to find until recently. Here it is: th-cam.com/video/CaAbZmdjK80/w-d-xo.html
...Ah yes, the 80s, a better time when you could enjoy yourself without the pressure of knowing what you could say, what you could laugh at without being berated by society and, more importantly, holier than thou types on social media...in fact a world without social media! Top of The Pops in it's prime before the completely unsuitable and untalented Andi Peters was given the producers job, before swearing and sexuality crept into music! Before society crushed the will!
Not live, but not miming to the record either, looks like they did a recording earlier in the and are miming to that. The giveaway is rhe guitar solo at 1:50 this is done on a flugelhorn on the record.
My mentor: Kristinn Svafarsson My mistake Little house and a metal boat. What a genius in making of things. The other geniuses are only rem by great music 🤣
Alas, no, not live. Notice no mics on the sax or drums, no lead out of the back of the keyboards or guitars.. But look out for live versions on YT, they are still playing and have always been AMAZINGLY tight
They still do. Apart from the sax player they travel around Europe playing the top jazz festivals and clubs. I've been to see them in London, great guys and supremely talented musicians.
@@Wally-H Interesting to know they're still performing. I loved this track as soon as I heard it for the first time recently on the Top of the Pops repeats on BBC4.
@@ajs41 If you could see the whole of my TH-cam profile photograph, you would know that I am actually standing in the Pizza Express Jazz Club, London, next to Mezzoforte bass player Johann.
Looks pretty live to me...the usual fill in stuff, but they do seem to be playing their instruments. Am I being naive...it was the 80s, after all, when miming extended to most 'live' performance....
@@gizmonovack The ones looking gormless are just people who wrote in to be on the show. I had a girlfriend who was a regular. Anyone who could dance was professional, which is most people there.
I want these awesome times back. 💜🥰❤️😍💙

This was the theme tune to Friday people with Mike Smith early Friday evening bbc 1
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Riktigt bra!🙂
Nice bit of jazz funk remember going out to buy this track 👍👍👍👍
Wasn’t this used as the theme for Mike Smith’s BBC1 teatime entertainment news show Friday People too?
And Fry & Laurie’s doomed TV pilot ‘The Crystal Cube’ in 1983
A version was also used by the BBC as the theme tune for their midweek Horse Racing coverage around the same time as Friday People.
Yes it was but I forgot the name till you reminded me

This is the Song where all Former NDR2 Radiohosts announced the weather all over Europe: London, bedeckt 13 Grad
FWIW : TOTP was never live music. Never. Ever. That was why by the '80s, people in the UK were more interested to watch/listen to "The Tube"
There were occasional live performances especially in the later years.
This was "live"
The entertaining muzak.

@@duncanparsons They are that tight live though. Check out their awesome 40th anniversary concert on TH-cam and you'll see what I mean
Before the sugarcubes and Bjork mezzoforte put Iceland on the map
I prefer this to those two.

All of the dancers and crowd dancers are actors
