    For how many years, and with how many billions of tax dollars, have we invested in these "educators"? And where is the American student ranked on a global basis?
    Follow the money! Doing so will reveal the corruption thriving within the bloated bureaucracy known as Public Education.

    My wife has been teaching at the same Public High School for 21 years now and she is just appalled. She sees her career and her retirement going down the tubes as I speak. People need to really wake up. I know that a big majority of Trump supporters are low to middle class, most have kids in public schools and they seem not to care who Trump picks. I have lost faith in a big majority of this Nation.

      it should be of some comfort that 90% of public school funding is non-federal, and the states have complete legislative authority over schools. The federal government can offer funds and set conditions for these funds to be disbursed, but it cannot actually require state X to do action Y in regards to education.

      Buck Ofama the council on foreign relations run America. As long as president pick them as advisors and aides we will have the same America. example...Trump apointed Henry Kissinger as an aide.
      Bernie sanders talks down on the CFR and I doubt he would have picked anyone from the establishment for his cabinet. It would have still be a fight for a great country but one we could win with bernie.

    I work in the construction industry in Nevada, some of my company's future projects are charter schools....I cringe every time they get brought up in our sales meetings. I look around the table and I can see that my co-workers have no idea what they are and how they will affect our community. It's funny to hear this report on how much they profit on these schools when in the building plans, they keep pushing them back for cuts in price, meaning cuts in quality product.

    • @kwazooplayingguardsman5615
      @kwazooplayingguardsman5615 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      well, considering their funding is still very low compared to the public option, they need to either adapt or they won't be able to provide service, also their profit is capped by the state government. I think you forgot to mention that.

      Fragmenting and decentralization of the publics education should lead to more fragmentation. Divide and conquer concept will only be understood by the truly knowledgeable and solidarity will not be celebrated but will be persecuted as adverse, group think anomaly, to be shunned. Or Berniecrats stand up and fight.

    • @kwazooplayingguardsman5615
      @kwazooplayingguardsman5615 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      the whole system of our government is based upon fragmentation of government power. hence why we separate our judicial, legislative, and executive branches, hence why we have two different adversarial levels of government, state and federal, hence why our founding fathers wrote in the bill of rights and the constitution.
      or maybe you just forgot all of that.
      public unions has centralized so much power that they can hold hostage an entire state if their whims aren't met. Time we bring accountability and sanity back to our education system.

      I don't understand why conservatives oppose people spending their hard-earned money on whatever they want. What exactly is wrong with Bernie buying a home?
      On the other hand liberals are constantly equating charters with for-profit corporations. That is valid in some situations, but there are also many states where charters are 100% public in every way. What is wrong with a little research on a subject before comment?

  • @chownful

    What is wrong with sending students with consistent low scores and students with behavioral problems to separate schools? In my city voucher schools have been great for students living in the inner city that actually care about their education. There is *so* much less violence and drugs at the voucher schools versus the surrounding public schools that have numerous students with no desire to learn.
    I can't even imagine how many students have just given up or had ruined dreams because of the bullshit that goes on in public schools.

    We've been at war with the DeVos' attempts to privatize just about everything in Michigan for a long time. If you want to see just how bad of an idea her "Charter Schools" are, just look at how they are underperforming here. On average, they are well below the public schools, but those profits keep rolling in to her corporate friends. Also, don't forget her brother is Erik Prince, the founder of the disgraced mercenary group Blackwater - who engaged in war crimes in Iraq and blamed it on the US Army. I can assure you she's looking to build favor with her new boss, the groper-and-chief, President "chode-fingers," for her brother as well.

      Your public school education hasn't giving you very much common sense huh. For profit means businesses compete to give the best education to their consumers. Oh and crap teachers can get fired. I guess you prefer government services over private lol. Not me I prefer UPS over the US post office. The market caters to the consumer the government over charges for less quality and is high inefficient.

    The statement regarding application of kids with disabilities to charter schools is wrong. As public schools, charter schools are required to enroll and serve students with disabilities in the same manner as traditional public schools and in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws. In fact, because charter schools have more flexibility than traditional public schools, they are designed to offer innovative educational strategies and provide individualized support to meet the needs of all students, including those with disabilities and other unique challenges. In order to support students with special needs, charter schools will often tailor their educational program or create specialized programs.

  • @sunrisestomp1
    @sunrisestomp1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I know a lot of arguments in here are anti-charter school but I actually went to one and it was the best school experience I ever had. It felt more like a community than a school and even though we didn't have a lot of resources, we still had programs and clubs and the teachers were very committed to their jobs. I was able to go through material as fast as I wanted and use my extra time to explore my own interests and, later in high school, work full-time. I could have gone to a private school or muddled through the rest of public school, both of which would have been much better funded and larger and both of which I tried, but I wouldn't have had the opportunities I've had without the charter school I went to.
    One additional note I want to make is on the idea that charter schools "cherry pick the best" and that was 0% the case. We had kids like myself who needed a different option to kids with special needs (we actually had a lot of deaf students because a lot of the teachers knew sign language) to kids who were insanely smart and dedicated students and even the rejects who were expelled from other schools. We weren't picked for some special reason, there was a wait list and when someone left the school or they afforded a new teacher, new students were allowed in. If we set the proper requirements on what can be a charter school, we might actually see less poor results from charters and see more results like myself (not miserable and pleased with their education).

    Im not
    a teacher, Im a youth coach (volunteer). They are taking money FROM PUBLIC
    SCHOOLS to fund charter schools. If you have 2 buckets, one full and an
    one empty. Then you take water from the one that's full to fill the other
    bucket. Then people are amazed that you no longer have a full bucket, you
    have 2 half empty buckets. The charter school bucket has a valve in the
    bottom, and that valve can be opened at anytime for any reason with no
    accountability, no oversite and no regulation. And the person with
    their hand on the valve is a water hoarder on steroids. (billionaires) My

      There are a few pro charter school documentaries out there and watching one of them would make you see why some people fall for it. Because they basically in a very friendly mannered voice and such. Portray public schools like shit and charter schools like heaven. So to a parent that doesnt think too far or similar. Charter school can look like the obvious school, *IF* you care about your kids of course. Which they will most likely mention in some way that the best schools in X, Y, Z area has been a charter school the past X years and we just happens to have one parent here that first had her kid at a public school for one year, which was bad and here she is saying that, but on year two went for a charter school instead and now everything is just like a commercial.
      The short response is this. Charter schools is only easy to see as negative if you have a macro view of education. However most parents do not see further than what they THINK is best for their kid.

So the public schools have certified staff and they turn out the embeciles we see in society, who often cannot even read their own diploma and are so dumbed down they vote for public officials because they are black, or because they are a woman or because they are gay, or because they used to be an actor, or any other trait that has nothing to do with the qualifications necessary to protect our rights and do their constitutional duties?
    Pfft! I'll take "bacward" and "uncertified" any day over forward and certified by the nut jobs posing as professors in our schools of "higher learning". What a bunch of baloney!
    Parents, wake up. Get your kids out of the public school system and demand that you not be required to pay for public schools.

    I wonder what her education background is?, like most, I grew up going to public schools, but the way public schools work, they do not work for everyone, some people with learning disabilities do not do well in public schools as they currently operate.. but that being said, doing away with the current system would not be in the best interest for everyone, especially the poor, over work lower class. but different systems for different locations

    • @MexicanNoDummy
      @MexicanNoDummy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well see the public schools have to accommodate kids with disabilities. If they are failing then you can sue them and force them. that is another issue. Charter and private schools have ZERO obligation to accept special ed kids and no law makes them accommodate. So blind, deaf, autistic and many other kids would be forced to fend for themselves.

    School choice is killing education in this country? Public education in the USA hasn't had a pulse in years!
    Our public schools are in horrible shape and we spend a lot of money on them... The USA ranks very low on the world stage and the money we spend is at the top!
    Detroit spends WELL OVER $10, 000 dollar per student.
    The Charter schools are NOT selecting students. Parents select alternatives to public schools.
    We need school choice and parents can choose small private schools, large corporate run schools, or public schools.
    It's time we fix the mess of public education.

    I'm not a Trump supporter but I have been a School Choice supporter throughout my career as an Education and Training officer in the military while my children were attending school and then after retirement when I began teaching in private and then public schools. Lets be honest. Not all parents favor School Choice for the academics. Many try to avoid schools due specifically for issues of gangs and drugs. In addition, as a former educator with a total 30 years experience I agree that low performing schools are for the most part staffed with low performing teachers. In San Antonio , Texas within the city limits there are seven independent school districts. What a waste of tax payer money.

    Here's a cold hard truth about public education. The fallacy that the unions make is that charter schools "drain resources" from Public schools. Ok first, charters are public. But this even assumes that the public education funds are somehow OWED to the district schools to begin with. Public education means that public education is fully funded. The $ follows the children, so that's what counts, the brick-and-mortar district schools do not have an inherent right to exist.

As soon as he won the primary and the Republican Party was paying the bills - OPM (Other People's Money) - the rates tripled. Trump was making money off his campaign. So it's not surprising that he would appoint people with similar morals.

      Example, in your school area within reasonable range you have the options of charter schools only. One to be specific and its the Saudi Arabian school for Islamic teaching, but dont worry. Apart from a "few other things", they follow the curriculum. Or there actually is one other school, but there you have to use your voucher AND pay on top of that because that school. Mormons Special Needs school. View the voucher themselves as only going towards their profit margin and not actually paying for teachers and the running of the school. That doesnt sound too bad... What?!? You are poor and dont even earn a living wage! Fuck off you lazy bum. You should pull yourself up by the bootstraps and teach your own kids. Maybe then they will learn the value of money and get a job that earns more, like me. I run a charter school for profit and make millions! #Satire
