    The hole that you pointed out on cylinder 6 is so you can detect when the piston is a TDC. Number 6 and number 1 hit top dead center at the same time. You can there by set and time the distributor

    That circle is a plug so you can measure the stroke. 218 and 230 had the same bore size stroke is different. You can use a stiff piece of wire down the plug hole to determine stroke.

    These are underrated collector/ classic cars. My 1st car in 1965 was a 55 Plymouth Belvedere 6 cylinder flathead with 3 on the tree. For over the last 20 years i've had a 53 Plymouth Cranbrook coupe, that's evolved into a drag and drive car. I'm documenting the latest remodel on the 53 Plymouth channel. Check it out. Enjoy the repair process!

    yale engine overhaul pellets they pop up on eBay every so often don't need the motor oil that comes with just the pellets you heat up the motor and pull the spark plugs and drop the pellets down there an alloy lead that melts around the rings and semi repairs a cylinder walls used to be able to buy him and JC Whitney catalog I have a few in my emergency prep they usually come for I've restored several Geo metros that had over a million miles no joke with the has like zero compression and it brought it back to make it run for another 100,000

    • @somewhatfast

      I agree it is a very worn engine behind the valve covers the springs are gunked up with a thick layer of sludge. Most likely wasn't maintained either.

    Not that this will help you but I’ve had old cars smoke real bad like that from glazed cylinder walls because the carb was dumping so much fuel, after fixing the carb I filled the washer bottle with AJAX and water, then held it wide open and ran the washer fluid into the carb, the water cleans out all the carbon and the Ajax takes the glaze off the cylinder walls and piston rings, it ain’t pretty but it worked

    • @somewhatfast
      @somewhatfast  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats good know. I've used water in a squirt bottle to clean carbon before. This block needs to be machined though.

    If you are going to do a V8 swap on the wagon just put the motor from the wagon in there

    • @somewhatfast
      @somewhatfast  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm contemplating that but I'm trying make the V8 swap pay for its self by selling the motor and trans and parting out the dodge ram. We will see if I can make it work. The O/D trans is worth about a $1000 on the 55 Plymouth.
