It’s Snowing! Japanese Ski Resort Town (Akakura Myoko)

- Let’s take a walk IN THE SNOW through a ski town in the Nagano / Niigata Japanese alps. The Main Street is small but has some neat places. I hope this gives you an idea of what it’s like, what to expect in the area. The ski resort here is about 50% Australian! It was cool to meet people from down under here. Everyone is friendly and the ski slopes are really good!

It "snowed" in Georgia Monday, the entire town I live, shut down. There were news reports on how to "brave" the "winter" weather. It snowed in the wee hours of the morning. It was beautiful. It thawed by noon. 😂 Us southerners are not winter weather folk! Lol. This type of weather I'm seeing here-we would think it's an ice age apocalypse 2.0😁. It's beautiful as all get out, looks fun and extremely terrifying all at the same time. You're sooo brave John😉
In recent years in the UK, people seem to have decided that snow is entirely impassible... however little there is.
If they think their might be snow tomorrow, a lot of schools announce that they will be shut.
...and stay shut even if there isn't any snow!
Even snowing, Japan is so pretty!

I was in Akakura onsen a couple of weeks ago over New Years, such a nice village with so many friendly locals! There were heaps more Japanese people skiing and boarding during the New Years break but still much more quiet than Hakuba.

The snow looks beautiful! It reminds me of that one snow fall we had in December in Texas though it didn’t fall nearly as much as this. The town looks very cute !

My mother used to make 'soft boiled' eggs. The white was solid, but the yokes were still liquid. We'd put them in an 'egg cup', crack open one end, and eat with a spoon. I loved them as a kid. I always wondered if 'Fuji' apples came from Japan. Kimche is fermented/pickled cabbage isn't it?

You might also try Nozawa Onsen sometime. Good skiing, slopeside ramen or curry, and a bunch of free onsen. The town felt more traditional than Akakura Myoko (based on this video ... I've never been there). Lot's of yukatas and geta at night made a festive and fun atmosphere.

Right now in Australia, a lot of people are going to japan. It’s kinda like flavour of the month. I’m going in 2 weeks, and another 6 of my friends are going within the next 12 months

LOL its an EGG for crying out loud. It comes out of a chicken's butt. Egg tastes like.. egg. LOL This morning I made some grits, added a little bit of grated cheese a scrambled egg and a slice of ham... yum!
