From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

@francom8938 I think that is being quite generous.
I know the true capabilities of both the F-22 and Su-57 are classified so DCS is a best guess, but I can't help but think that somewhere, perhaps by both sides, a military-modded version of DCS is being used with the capabilities more accurately modeled.

My thoughts exactly, Americans be like F22 booyahh !!!!, but I suspect the reality is that the SU57 is comparable and pilot skill makes the difference.
@@SE-tc3crRCS of the SU57 is substanitally higher and radar tech as well sensors of Russians jave in the past always been inferior. The SU57 may be however very agile but thats it.
@@SE-tc3cr If it comes to dogfighting then yeah it could be the same, but its RCS is so much higher that it's much easier to lock onto it, so it gives an F-22 a clear advantage.

I am wondering why those SAMs almost never hit any planes in DCS despite the fact that they are way more potent than any air to air missiles.
In his last F-22 mission video, the SAM actually hit a Su-57 chasing after him.
Returned radar energy works on the inverse 4th power Law (inverse square outbound and inverse square returning), compound this with a very small RCS of the target and long ranges, and very little energy, if anything gets back to the SAM radar. Very hard to shot at what you cant see and when you can see, you need enough to get a solution. Thus the SAMs effective range is reduced.
ground-based missiles have to put a hell of a lot more energy into climbing to altitude and getting up to speed compared to air-to-air missiles. they also have a very static launch platform that the enemy can easily outmaneuver. they're great for point defense (at least until you get some wild weasels showing up, your location is compromised, and a few low-observable aircraft bomb you to kingdom come) but they're not a replacement for competent fighter jets.

Tbh I feel like the Su 57 is much more scary than the F22 because ppl tend to underestimate it severely whilst thinking the F22 is some kind of modern age Wonderweapon that is invincible to everything
The f22 has better tech, the Su 57 is the better jet when it comes to maneuverability and looks. Like anything the Russians touch, it usually turns to shit

Run your 4 ship 10 miles in trail. Have lead TWS volley 4 and go cold. Make all adversaries defend when 2 comes in and volleys 4 more and go cold. When 3 gets there, same same. And for 4 if anything is left. Try the volleying relay for a line abreast adversary.
I like how the last felon got hit by an aim-9 and goes "nah, it's not worth it anymore"

I hope Pyotr didn't take that last shoot down personally --- it's strictly business when it comes to these big, pricey, dangerous planes. Can't let those things continue to serve in active fighter squadrons. Besides, the way GS handled things, Pyotr was able to punch out and live to fight another day.

If I correctly recall, some people calculated the stealth characteristics of the Su-57 to be similar to the ones of an F-18.

We can't know for sure, but it definitely isn't what we would ever call stealth.
@@DK-ig8zi The T-50 prototypes are effectively identical to the production model (the ones actually used in the analysis). They were so close in fact that at least one of the prototypes was rebranded as a production Su-57.

Fuly loaded its less than .90 for f35
For felon its .97 for fully loaded
Also su 57 uses older su 35 engines which are inherently problem less but the sole reason newer engines are developed is for more twr and inherently more power etc.
F35 engines have started showing issues if u realise with engines having too much wear and unable to reach max stated thrust
But then , it doesnt make headlines I guess

It seems, with those stealth jets, that because they detect each other at close distances then the missiles fired are much more dangerous because of the close range.
In reality anti stealth radars will discover them from far away, making the stealth absolutely pointless. You could sneak around between mountains, but for that you need no stealth at all, that's just the mountains.

I dont know how good DCS is at modeling aspect ratio differences by facing. It might just be as simple as "this plane as this size cross section" and just a flat value like that.

SU-57 is gen 4.5 at best, the thing has exposed turbine blades and no serpentine inlets, old old tech from the 60s dressed up to look stealth.
We're supposed to pretend the Su-57 is stealth.
But still a very capable platform. It's not that they don't make good stuff... it's that they don't have the budget to make good stuff in numbers. Then what little you DO make, inflate/exagerate capabilities so everything falls short in actual combat. Exacerbate those problems by flushing 15-30% of your armed forces down the toilet, and THEN try to build a modern fighting force? Even if Russia could build 100 SU-57's they lack experienced pilots and lost the veterans that could train them (assuming they actually something approaching a training budget which they do not have). We have problems, but not like they do. Woof.
