Jam and especially DD were robbed on those dressage scores. DD put in such a good test and in that weather too! She should have been substantially sub 30.
I wish Yfood as available in the USA. I heard about them in your videos but we can't buy them over here. I struggle with belly issues and would love to drink these on show days. Please tell your rep your USA followers would love Yfood over here too! Best of luck Meg. We love your channel. Thanks from Angela and Kennedy the haflinger in Indiana.
Thank you for brightening my day Meg! I had the worst morning finding out that my boyfriend of 2+ years cheated on me last night and this has been the only thing to help me smile. I really love your channel and can't tell you just how much of a difference watching your vlogs makes to me, thank you for being you
Wow what awful weather to have to contend with! The girls did you proud. Glad Cameron was ae to give you his words of wisdom with Dee Dee. Great support network with Hobbit, Han and Pete and everyone else who helped out Go Team Elphick xxx
I’m was really sorry to hear yours and Jammy’s dressage result (definitely deserved better!) but at the same time given what happened with the cross country, maybe it’s a bit of a blessing in disguise that you didn’t head into it in a high position. Next year will be your 100 qualifying year (maybe even for both girls!)
Huge congratulations, I think both tests deserved a better mark but thankfully that didn't effect you getting to badminton! Can't wait to watch the rest
Watched Dee's dressage and I do agree she deserved a better mark. In those conditions! Cameron's commentary was very interesting, sounds like he would have given you 75% plus. Ah well you qualified! Well done keeping going.
Hi, what a great vlog Meg . Shout out to Hanna! Han is so fun and the groom-superstar. You all done so well and the equidry saved of the day (pink one is fab) . Can’t wait for part 2&3 xxx
I think they both did really nice tests! Shame about the scores but dressage sometimes comes down to what the judge likes on the day. The important thing is that you were happy with how they went. X
Loved this first instalment of bicton, especially loved seeing han so confident vlogging! Ponies did so well dressage with such harsh marks, but props to you and Dee for keeping it together in the rain 🙌
You did so well in such challenging conditions! And you have an amazing support team. Jam’s expression didn’t look happy in her test, I wonder if that impacted her marks? Looking forward to the next parts (but not the fall) with such an entertaining crew!
I've been having a really rough time these past few months but your videos always give me a little something to look forward to and enjoyment! thank you meg :)
Gosh, I remember having this kind of thing happen to me back when I did riding competitions. It was hard to compete against the bigger, flashier horses with the little Quarter Horse I had. Connemaras rock, keep on keeping on!
What a great vlog! Thought Jam looked amazing, loved the back up team, (as always!), and just a shame that the judges didn’t give a higher mark. Well done Meg. 👏🏻
I thought both Jam and Dee did really well and I think you may be right in the fact it truly does come down to the preference of the judge. I personally believe both are stunning ponies ♥️
Can't wait for the next Vlogs. And I think you got robbed in points in your Dressage scores with both mares!! Just my opinion. Love from a Retired Paramedic, a S&R Dog and Handler Team Trainer and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖🇨🇦🇬🇧
I agree. But I'm also glad it's equally harsh so everyone hopefully got judged well. It's also a direct qualifier for badders so I do see why. Was a lovely test from both mares though
Having judged dressage at riding/pony club level in the past, The only criticism I would have of Jams test was that it could have been more forward. But it was so correct and obedient, so a bit harsh I think.
@@janeminwell4395 And having been an FEI Level Coach and Judge, and judged many shows at higher levels, I have to agree with you. That's why I said that I think she was "robbed" and on otherwise a very good Dressage test. I have since let that lapse, but still teach riding along with training ex-military personnel as Search and Rescue personnel for 2 National Parks. One that uses horses a lot in their searches with their dogs, and the other using horses in the Winter mainly, as it can get them into areas that snow machines can't get into. Especially if they have to cross open streams. Have a great day today Jane Minwell!! Jenn. 💖 🇨🇦
Love me some Cam cameos, always insightful to hear his commentary. I've noticed that there are quite a lot of differences between competing in the UK and in Sweden (where I live). Here, for an example, ponies and bigger horses usually compete separate for the reason that they're so different in strides, gates and bodytypes etc. In Sweden it's also rare to see rising trot even at the "lowest" levels. Quite interesting that there´s a difference!
Eek! I just ordered my first bundle of YFood (thanks Meg and Tina for influencing me 😁). Weirdly it didn’t seem to have anywhere to put in a discount code, but I’m excited to try them anyway! Off to go watch the rest of the vlog now…
Love this!! I love how cheerful you are ♥️ Pete, Han and hobbit are hilarious to watch! Just a question, you may have answered this in the Vlog or in some other video, but I’m only bout half way through this one, why is Dee doing 90 and Jam doing 100?
Petition to get those dressage judges sacked?🙃 Jam was robbed. Honestly could’ve cried for you in that rain with Dee, you smash it everytime Meg we love you! A massive congratulations for riding Dee so well in that that’s somethings to be proud of, mine would’ve literally decked me & ran away with that rain. Well done Meg can’t wait to watch the rest although I’m scared because I’ve already seen your sore face😭🤞🏼 xxxxx
I've noticed with Jam, she's used to not staying on rail when she gets to one end of arena & isn't riding deep and squarely bending around the corners, she cuts the corners at one end of the dressage ring in competition,(not using whole arena) likely because she's used to doing same at home arena- as that is where you keep a bunch of jumps and other stuff she avoids getting close to. Also I noticed at this dressage competition, she didnt bend as well in her circles as she usually does. Twice she got about 2/3 around the circle nicely & then she got stiff, stopped bending and cut the circle just slightly.
Both girls were beautiful and you rode beautifully. Sad the judges couldn’t see that. Regardless of that they say all that matters is how you think they did.😊
Absolutely the only thing I would critique on both horses was the (1) need to go deeper into the corners and (2) to sit deeper in the saddle. At the lope/canter you tend to bounce just a bit because you are not sitting deep enough & thus your back is tight causing your hips to not move with the horses movement. Also, on Jam - remember what Lucinda said last year. She has a horse stride (& now height) so let her stride out like a horse. But both tests looked really nice.
Was awesome to hear Cameron talk through the dressage test ! And wow you both did amazing ! But Wait why was there 2 judges parked in different spots for jam? or are they at different levels in dressage also ? Because they where watching two different angles?? Then they're not.... not fair , They where def harsh on them dressage but it's always tough with 2 judges and being a qualifier still bum scores 🙄
So here's the question that I always want to ask and that is why do you do buttons instead of a hunter plait I'm from the USA and we do small tiny plaits about 30-35 on a horses neck.
You would be laughed back to the lorry park if you went eventing with 30 plaits in the UK. We don't have 'hunters' here so the plaits Meg does are normal for all competitions.
Genuine question as I'm just interested, not being rude. Why don't you give them haynets while travelling? Maybe you've mentioned it prior but I can't remember 🙂
Jam's test looked lovely, perhaps a tiny bit more subdued than usual. Maybe needed just a little more impulsion. But for the difference in judge's scores to be over 5%, if that was a pure international dressage test they'd be asked to look at their marks again (I know it's not but even so, seems dodgy one judge appeared to be against you)
Hi, they ALWAYS have a small feed & hay available before they travel. We have traveled them with hay but they never touch it & we once had the horrible experience where a pony managed to get the head collar clipped to the haynet, pinning the head there. We rarely travel over two hours & if we do we stop half way to offer them something. They are always walked & allowed to graze as soon as we arrive anywhere. Hope that helps?
@@jelphick4686 ah thanks for explaining. Bless them. What a nasty experience to of had! My greedy pony always eats her net when travelling and we rarely go over an hour haha!
@@juliaforsyth8332 interesting. My pony is prone to stress colic and ulcers so I like to give her the choice. She's never choked in her life. But we have cameras in the box anyway, touch wood I've never had a problem. Sometimes she doesn't touch the hay xx
