I had a good laugh when you say "heading for breakfast " , and in the next clip you show a horse. Some breakfast. After a short spring or summer rain, the world smells so much better.
Thank you. I hope you're right - as happy as me while I ride'uth :) It really is the best way to spend one's days and I'm mulling over what to do next now. The King Alfred's Way is right out of my door basically and would be a nice easy option but I'm feeling an urge to go back to Scotland and have been looking into the Badger Divide as well. Decisions decisions!
Looks fantastic Jethro, A nice quiet route that is well signed. Plus the best combination for a Jacket Potato. Two great camping spots as well, I definitely need to do this.
This trip just keeps getting better and better. Thanks much for taking us all along. And I agree with you about the flat light of an overcast day bringing out subtle details that harsh, bright sunlight tends to obscure.
Glad you are enjoying it. Spoiler alert, the sunshine doesn't play such a big role from here on in 😉 It really does add a bit of variety to the trip though. I'm not saying I ever want to ride in the rain of the howling wind but a bit of weather adds spice I think!
You passed within ten miles of my hometown of Skipton today which made it special for me to watch. Especially so since I now Ilve so far away. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Hope the locals are being nice! JP
It's a great part of the world. Pretty different to your current home I guess! The locals and others I passed along the way were all great. I love unplanned trail encounters
Thank you! I'm glad you are enjoying it. Hopefully soon humanity will wake up to the importance of the cycle philosopher and I'll get some kind of grant from the collected governments of the world so I can go full time.
Its something that has been requested before ;) I am awful at actually talking about where I am in these videos because often I honestly don't know. I seem to ignore or forget place names which is something I need to work on. There is a link on the channel page to my strava where you can see the exact route I took but I will try to start mentioning more place names because you are not the first person to pick me up on this!
Glad to hear it. All cycling is good cycling and those moments when the rain stops, the sun peeks through and everything starts steaming are truly amazing!
Only half a pound? - you certainly skimped on the butter! Those nut brown colours on the land reminded me of Rannock Moor before hurtling down Glen Coe @ 40+. Another good pitch.
I certainly could have burned off more ;) This was a good pitch and probably saved my tent as the wind really was crazy that night! Definitely a similar colour scheme to Scotland but not as rugged. I rode the Badger Divide more recently (check out the videos if you haven't already) and although the climbs there were longer and higher they were more spaced out and just felt much less exhausting
A potato in Bar'wick, the home of Hope cycle components. Frank Whittle developed his jet engine there and I believe R-R still have a factory in the town.
Well I never, you're right! I'm so bad at research (I don't do any) but often seem to get a good load of info after the fact. It was a nice little town but just seemed like a sleepy market place. Guess it goes to show that there is history, and industry, and invention and stories in every place you pass through... if only your research team are not as slack as mine ;)
