Wow that is an absolute ANIMAL I had a buddy years ago had a 600whp GSR just like this, fully built 2.0L w 65mm turbo, drag radials and solid mounts… Quite scary to ride in….
I had a Honda back in the day would do that if it had 22" baby slicks. About 600-620whp boost creeping. Thanks for the reminder, and nice peddle control shift timing in my opinion.
@@TropicalAsian-1000 That's not how anti-lag works. Anti-lag works by holding the rpm at a pre-set level and then retards the timing to the point that the combustion is happening in the exhaust manifold/turbo housing. There is no holding the clutch down for this to happen. If you watch his rpms, it stays steady until he releases, whatever button or switch, for the anti-lag control. Edit: on a closer look, it looks like he is brake boosting as he's holding the brake pedal down
They accomplish the same task just different methods. Both have their own cons. Brake boosting works by loading the engine, which produces more exhaust gases to spool the turbo. Brake boosting will put a lot of strain on the head studs, potentially causing head lift. You also eat brake pads pretty fast. Anti-lag works by retarding timing so that the combustion is outside the cylinder, directly spooling the turbo. Anti-lag is much more harsh as your exposing the turbine to the raw combustion process. Shortens the turbo's life span
In that case you did your friend a disservice. Please correct him so he does not go to a motorsports event and make a fool of himself. This is 2-Step, not Anti-Lag. Anti-Lag is a system we use in racing, that self-engages during gear shifts and during breaking to prevent the boost from dropping. This is just rolling 2-Step. Anti-Lag is a much more complex system that is almost never found in any street car, not even tuner cars.

Why do you insist on calling your rolling 2-Step for Anti-Lag? Anti-Lag is something we use in racing between gears and during breaking to prevent the boost pressure from dropping. During a launch we use either 2-Step as you have here, or 3-Step,

Isnt the antilag somewhat useless since the tires seem to lose grip right when he dumps it (the revs jump high instantly then go down a little)?
Anti-lag is to, well, to get rid of the Turbo Lag. So basically what this does is spoils the turbo for instant boost when he’s ready
