Nah. Only if you view this playthrough as an individual and not as a series. They got to play *every* DMC game and introduce the series to a new generation of fans. They capped off a sequence of games about cool hijinks and amazing sword fights, with a very structured and through rebuttal. Going through every game to this one, serves as a complete examination of what the series was, why this game was *wrong* and why DMC5 coming out is such a victory. It's a piece of a greater whole, and it's poetic that the final completion was the refutation.
It is, perhaps, a metaphor for SBF as a whole.
The "not in a million years" joke is the most Devil May Cry bit in the entire game. It's the main character barrelling down the camera and telling a stupid joke in the middle of an action sequence. It perfectly captures the spirit of the series.

I think of all the things Inafundme caused, this game is the most prominent piece of evidence that he was a hack that just lucked in to having Mega Man associated with him. Every single thing he did when he was pushing his "LETS WESTERNIZE ALL THE THINGS" initiative was a disaster.
Strider Hiryu remake and Bionic Commando Rearmed was good.

This always bothered me, but Vergil said that the Nephilim were taboo and implied that him and Dante were the only ones while Phineas said that they were the third race. So you’re telling me that Nephilim are taboo but there were enough of them for them to be another race? Which is it?! There’s also that statue of that one other Nephilim and what confuses me is why is there a statue of a Nephilim in a place where they’re hated? And what did they do to earn that statue? I want a game about them because they must’ve did something intense to earn the respect of the demons
Kavaskon the Beta I think Nephilim were Cool as being a third race goes...but got too powerful so they got wiped out and made taboo.
According to some versions, all of the super awesome races got wiped out in the Flood.
One year late
basically the DmC use the classic interpretation of the nephilim: a taboo race because of the conflicts between angels and demons, hence seen as abominations by the purist of both factions. In every instance they end up being almost wiped due to their power. The statue of Assiel seemrd more like a prison because she speaks to Dante ingame. But as much as I like the game it's likely that's an overlooked thing in the awful story.
Okay so as much as it pains me to say this that is actually biblically accurate? The Nephilim WERE a pretty common thing but then, uh, God got real pissy about it and told Gabriel to murder literally all of them. Most of which were uh. Gabriel's. Kids.
So yeah nephilim were the offsprings of angels and hideously powerful and monstrous and God had all of them killed so making more is a pretty fucking bad idea, generally.
there's just something about this game's pathalogic need to ruin every funny joke it has by tacking on something cringe at the end

So those changes to the plot could have made the game way better.
1. Have Vergil actually be weak, contemplate killing Lilith and her child and doing what needs to be done, because being so weak he was afraid of the kid growing up and taking revenge on him.
2. Have Vergil absorb some devil power from Mundus and get a bit high from it, "Now that I have the power I don't have to do weak shit like gunfire abortions", setting up Vergil and his desire for power.
3. Vergil said Sparda was a "blood brother" to Mundus, a bit of elaboration and a slight change to Mundus could have established, that while Sparda did just leave to have a quiet life with his wife and children, Mundus was super jealous because he thought he was number one for Sparda for ever and ever. Maybe even show some love/hate attitude towards Dante and Vergil, since both of them resemble Sparda and Eva to him at the same time, I mean people still think that Snape was a super brilliant character, so why not use a part of that for your main villain?
All 3 of those options would have made the story better. Another way they could have took option 3 would be to reinforce how much the angels and demons hated each other. Mundas is pissed because of how much demons hate angels but nothing interesting is done with that hate. You don't even see any angels besides Dante's mom.

This game was actually my first introduction to DMC, and I loved it, it was just sooo cool
But after some time I found out about the other ones.. and blindly played DMC 3 not knowing what it was.. and I finally
understood all the hate towards this game
I don't like making this really funny video about Best Friends splitting and all the fan obsessed theories, but I just realized how crazy the timeline of events is.
I genuinely find it baffling that there are some people who think nothing significant happened to drive Matt and Pat apart and that it was gradual.
Woolie and Pat, in this very playthrough, talk about playing DMC5 on the SBFP channel which would have been 3 months later. So they had long term plans to keep the channel going.
And Pat mentions texting Matt casually about coming over when they're playing the Vergil DLC.
And literally a few days after the final part of the DMC playthrough is uploaded, they release the splitting up video and state Matt and Pat are no longer friends.
Like even if we were to assume they filmed this DMC footage a week before they released it to TH-cam, that is still a very small window of time.
Like what the fuck happened in just a couple days to make them go from chill and talking about playing games 3 months from now to "we're ending the channel, they're no longer friends"?
I mean, didn't just a few sessions of Omikron kinda ruin their friendship unironically?

I don't think Matt is gonna do a full LP, he'll probably make a video but he usually doesn't do full LPs in his main channel, Woolie will probably make videos and Pat will probably stream it, at least that's how they usually do it

I got into dmc well after the reboot came out and only a couple years before 5 was announced, so I can't even imagine the long time fans' disappointment at realizing they might not see the other storyline ever again, and the eventual hype moment of the 5 reveal

thats unironically why i picked this game up before i knew what DMC was. i thought "huh cool a madness returns inspired game" and gave it a try. never finished it. went onto play mainline DMC games and only learned much later that this abomination was ever related.
Pat's final egregiously wrong moment in SBFP history was misinterpreting the entire theme and message of Persona 5 by saying it's about "rebelling while reveling in society" when it's really about making a show of changing shit, cause if you do it behind the scenes nobody will give a rats ass when stuff does change.
How did Pat even come to that conclusion?
