      Tobiwan Skenobi - haha I got a chuckle every time I heard them call the griddle that. : ) I tried the McDougall recipes about 35 years ago when he was practicing in Hawaii.

    I so know how you feel about the weight thing, Brian. It has been since my late teens/early 20s since I was under 200. I am now 53 and when I went below 200, I was ecstatic and actually did a mini happy dance about the house. I am still dealing with body dysphoria though and haven't allowed myself to get rid of clothes from my 200+ years. I guess I just always have this thought in the back of my mind that I will regain the weight because all other "diets" that I have tried and failed have resulted in gaining all the lost weight back plus more. But I know now that being on a WFPB SOS diet isn't really a "diet" at all, it is a lifestyle and I don't plan to go back to eating crap. Thanks again guys for an amazing update on your MM. You two are so inspiring and I cannot wait to try that new cheese sauce!

      Thanks for watching! We have so many clothes we have been holding on to, and I think both of us are finally ready to get rid of them! We can totally relate - we have gained and lost so many pounds over the years. It is hard to convince yourself that this time is different. But it is truly a lifestyle switch and we now KNOW how to do this. There's no excuse to gain it all back this time!

    I understand Jessica on condiments. Potato master and so much more. I feel like the extras are why I don't feel like I'm losing weight. I need a scale. How do you store all the prepared veggies? Brian with the bag of tators. lol loved it. I love experimenting too. Thanks, your attitudes are great considering what you challenges you go for.

    Seriously you guys are awesome! You seem the happiest you’ve been and it’s really funny to see you talk about BMs Jessica! Going on walks and finding ways to move around can help that more than any food or supplement... etc. You have to remember that women have different bodies than men and even that aspect is apart of the way things work inside of us. Also it could just be your bodies way of slowing down those nutrients so that they can absorb. Good to hear Beck was a good show, he totally deserved that Grammy. Congrats on loosing a whole person, and happy early birthday! Sounds like you’ll have some fun planned. Maybe some Italian potato recipe video in the works? Sounds delicious.

    Well you two have me thinking about trying this out. You recipes look really good! Btw a "squatty potty" is very helpful, even cheaper you can use a pair of foam yoga blocks for the same effect.

    I would suggest replacing the cravings with new activities that trick the mind out of habit. Try dancing a set dance move before eating the same meal... change the dance mood each meal... or listen to same song every breakfast - thenv3 days later change it up. The whole point is to redirect the focus of the mind from the food at mealtime to some other focus. It seems crazy but it really works. Can be as simple as changing the wall you face with each meal:)

    Why did you choose potatoes over rice or another starch? And for the record some people need more fat than fiber to keep things moving. That is me. Try some HCI, and digestive enzymes and oxbile. Also you can try some Natural Calm. That will get things moving!

    Great job! I love my salads. I love salads more than potatoes. Or rice or corn. So I’m not very confident that I could do this for five days. Because then things will start to slow down and I would get crabby so I feel your pain Jessica 😆

    Mashed potatoes with nutritional yeast, roasted garlic and onions stirred in then seasoned with a pinch of salt and pepper.
    Why not make mashed potatoes and stir in salsa and some of that *cheese* sauce.
    When you're back eating hummus stir some hummus into the mashed potatoes.

      This is a great way to lower you weight. I started this and I have lost 50 lbs so far. It's an adjustment but I feel so much better!!

    I’m starting a plant-based journey. I am so glad to have found your channel! Since I retired on May 1st and have the time to cook now I am finding it difficult to get my tiny kitchen and pantry set up for vegan eating! I don’t own any appliances other than the oven and fridge. I have been practically living at the Amazon and Vitamix websites, lol, and finding and watching different vegan channels to watch. You two are SO real and down-to-earth, I just love it! Thank you for being here and thank you for being such an inspiration for me! 🙏♥️

      Vegan physician and don't bother if you doing it for their reason to lose weight only. The world doesn't need another I'm doing it to lose weight vegan and I have sent them to another Channel and two other studies regarding the doctor's plan they are following and he has been debunked for the last I don't know how many years. It is a safe way to get yourself sick! Most people can't follow his advice and be okay. Dr. Elizabeth MD Ph.D

Anyone can be vegan for whatever reason they want, and people can lose weight how they want. You're not the boss of anyone here, not to mention insinuating that the world doesn't need someone.     Congrats on the weight loss! I know how you feel Brian! When my weight dropped into the 200’s again I felt so happy. It had been decades in the 3’s for me. Now I am at 220 and looking to the 100’s. So exciting. You both inspire me. We turned vegan 2 years ago and are feeling fine. I am not sure about the Mary’s mini...but still thinking about it.

    I tried the brand new vegan cheese sauce. HOLY MOLY! love it more than the cheese sauce i had been using which uses cashews. Im so glad i can now get away from the high fat/calorie cheese sauce.

    Thank you for another good vid. With the brocolli or the cauliflower. Had you tried the quick soup Gordan Ramsey did. Blanch them till tender then transfer the veg into a blender and use the blanching water. I would believe thats approved.

    Try taking the basket out when you make the puffs (so have them in the bottom) and shake/flip half way through cooking.

    So inspiring. I’m headed out to shop tomorrow to follow Joel Fuhrman eat to live plan for the next week. An awful lot of food. Do you guys find it to be very expensive? I’ve been vegan for 7 years, but not healthy whole food plant based. I’m looking at the quantities of food and wondering g how much this is going to cost me. 😬

    Make some vegetable soup and either pour it over the baked potato or put a cut up already baked potato in your soup. Just as idea. Love your videos. Like your ideas.

    Belated congratulations and I just realized that the normal weight for me is supposed to be 120 (5ft 4) and I've lost 120 lb I've lost one normal size of me

    Try MagO7 to get things moving. It doesn't cause any stomach cramping. Also CALM is a good magnesium product to mix with water and drink every evening to keep things moving .

    Have you made a no oil German potato salad? Red, green onion, celery and steamed red and or yellow potatoes? Make a dressing with rice vinegar dill, mustard lemon and black pepper

    I'm doing my first Mary's Mini right now. I'm doing rice. I absolutely love potatoes and tend to overeat with them so will do that last. I'll eat normally for 10 days when I'm done with the rice, then will do corn, then 10 days normal and then 10 days potato.

    What am I dong wrong... there is nothing on the WFPB diet that I think is "sooo good," Most everything is semi-edible, but nothing tastes very good at all.

    Hi Brian and Jessica, I just found your channel a few days ago and you are terrific! I have been following Dr M for a couple of years now but have been struggling a bit to stick with it. I find your videos inspiring! I wanted to comment on Jessica's feeling that Mary's Mini should be bland and boring. I would disagree with that. It seems Mary and her family spend a lot of time developing recipes that allow us to improve our health while keeping our taste buds interested and I don't think either she or Dr M would want us to make ourselves eat bland food. One suggestion: Why not email Mary and ask her about it? They are both wonderful about answering questions. Once again, thanks for your videos and keep 'em coming! And, yes, I would love to see a video about the Griddler... :)

    how do you cook your hashbrowns and make them taste great. do you add seasoning and what is griddler set on? I just did a batch, but seemed so so until I dipped in spicy ketchup. I mean it was ok,, but seemed blah. also they dont have that healthy brand in Texas.

      Thanks for the concern - I'm fine, I promise! I think during this challenge, it has been so easy for us, I felt like I wasn't being strict enough at times... but either way, I'll be happy to get back to our normal whole food plant-based diet where I don't feel restricted at all :D

We are starting our first marys mini august 6th and are so excited and inspired by you guys!     You think I could have an oats/roasted red bell pepper based cheese sauce on Mary’s Mini? Or would the oats count as a second starch so I couldn’t have it? (Not planning on picking oats as “the” starch for the mini) I just love Jill’s Game Changer Cheese Sauce! 😆

    you'll really reach the next level when food becomes less about "eating for fun" and more about "eating for health". at that point, the feeling of extreme health and overflowing vigor will be overcome boredom with diet choices. Youll choose more interesting and engaging pasttimes - eating wont be a hobby - it will be fuel for your real passions.

    Maybe roll your potato puffs in instant mashed potatoes or potato starch so they won’t stick in the air fryer.

    Amazon sells parchment paper made for the airfryer . Has holes for ventilation. Might help the puffs from sticking.

      I used a hole punch to make some at home LOL. Worked pretty well - but Brian seems to really like the baked puffs more... need to experiment!

    AND - Let me tell you - when you get a little older, the poop discussions become a highlight of your day. I'm 51 and my mom is 88 (with friends in their 90s) so don't be shy. You're talking about what you put IN your body, it's only natural to talk about what comes OUT of your body :-)
