Hi Christine...I'm so, so sorry to hear about your mom. It doesn't matter what the age was or how serious the illness, it's always such a sad and heavy-hearted weight having to say goodbye to your mom. What lovely pictures of her you included at the end😊. I hope the pieces of stitching you brought home with you from her house will help you to feel like she is still with you in some way whenever you see them. As always, I loved all of the stitching you've showed today! Your pieces are just timeless. I loved seeing the pictures of your patriotic vignettes. I think that is what my definition of comfort stitching is...just a design that invokes a memory or period of time in my mind and heart. Something nostalgic. I hope you'll enjoy your stitching time with friends in Ohio. Be well!
What beautiful photos of your Mother. What beautiful memories. My comfort stitching exists thanks to you and other floss tubers who have kept me company with my stitching which is my retreat, vacation and rest as I journey with parental care also since 2018 with my mom and dad. Your SALS and projects give inspiration and comfort by taking my brain away from the daily challenges. I also find comfort in having a variety of wips so if I feel like fill in, a bright color, something seasonal etc, it is at my fingertips and it keeps it all fun. Wishing you much comfort in many ways as you navigate your grief. May it be ever tempered with beautiful memories and love.
Hi Christine! I am a bit behind on viewing my floss tubes, so just watched this one today, July 14. my sincere sympathies onthe loss of your mother. You were all blessed to have an extra 6 years to be together, and I'm sure she appreciated the love and care you gave to her. Your stitching is, as always, beautiful, and I enjoy visiting with you. Take care.
I am so very sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for the food for thought when it comes to comfort stitching!
I’m so very sorry you lost your mom, my deepest condolences to you and your family. It’s hard to loose your mom, they are special. I enjoyed seeing your finishes and your wips. I think any kind of hand work with needle and thread is comforting. Take care Christine ❤️❤️
Hearing you share about your mom and the beautiful pictures of her at the end brought me to tears. I’m so sorry to hear about her passing. You will be in my prayers.
Christine, my condolences to you and your family on the passing of your mother. I find comfort in stitching something for others. I've made birth samplers for my children, now im stitching samplers for their babies! I also love sharing my knowledge of my hobby with my daughters, and maybe their daughters in the future. 😊
I’m so sorry for the loss of your mom. She was beautiful. Sure enjoyed your video as always. Love seeing your beautiful projects. Thank you for sharing.
I seem to love when flosstubers do a "themed" flosstube like all Blackbird or all Plum Street or all patriotic. Can't explain why but they just make me smile! Sorry for your loss. My mom passed this past November. Still fresh in my mind but each day the good memories are stronger and her last months/year (she had Alzheimer's) aren't quite as painful. Hugs❤
I'm so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I lost my mom 5 yrs ago this month at the age of 96. She was an avid stitcher & seamstress til macular degeneration made it too hard for her to see. Tho I wasn't as close to her as my sis was, we both had a love of handwork & was the one thing we had in common. I have quite a few pieces of her x-stitch, including the last thing she stitched, that I treasure even more now that she's gone. I think abt her alot when I stitch, especially when I'm stitching something I know she'd love, like cardinals for instance. That's comfort stitching for me & makes me feel a little closer to her. Hang in there, my friend; it does get easier, it just takes awhile. God bless!! ❤
My deepest condolences on the passing of your mom. There is no one quite as special as a mother. I love that she kept your stitching displayed in her home all those years. She was a proud momma.
In regards to comfort, I think you give all of us comfort while we watch your flosstubes. You have such a soft voice and gentle manner and we all need that in our lives. And when I am stitching, I feel such a sense of calm and serenity. I was so sorry Christine to hear about the death of your Mother. She left a legacy of love for you and your family. And I know you all will miss her very much. Sending 🤗
Christine...so sorry to hear of your loss...my mother passed from dementia, so I understand her release...I stitch for comfort and watch any number of flosstubes because of the comfort they bring...yours being one of them...thank you for all that you share with your beautiful patterns and stitching...best wishes❤
I haven’t even gotten thru your Flosstube yet but Comfort Stitching just warms my heart. I have become a sampler girl and would LOVE to learn how to design them one day 😊 I just ordered Catch the Wind because I love allllll of the little girls and billowy dresses. I have purchased several old patterns of “Old Fashioned” (1980’s and 1990’s) patterns to stitch and put on my walls …. Stitching IS my therapy ❤
Just found you on Flosstube today. I enjoyed seeing your beautiful stitching! So sorry to hear about your Mom. It's so hard to lose your Mom- give yourself time to grieve and heal. So glad you had that time with her.
Sorry to hear of your loss. My prayers are with you. I loss my Mother and I understand how difficult it can be. Thank you for sharing your stitching. ❤
Your Mother was beautiful. So sorry that you had to say goodbye. The promise of that first Hello Momma is something to look forward to. Hugs. Your stitching is beautiful.
You and your family will be in my prayers darling. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Comfort stitching hands down Prairie Schooler. Something about stitching any prairie schooler is so soothing to me. I love your stitching it's beautiful. Absolutely love Plum Street. I heard about your flosstube from Ms. Vicky the Virginia Stitcher. I can't believe I haven't seen you before I'm always watching flosstube. I will be looking forward to more videos. And binge watching your others lol.
Really sorry about your mom passing. I pray God will comfort you. My comfort stitching is cross stitch with the word of God on it, I love walking through the house reading it.
So sorry for your loss. I recently and unexpectedly lost my mom. I’m so glad she didn’t suffer long and most days are ok but some days are just harder than others. It’s surprising how many things make me think of her. I brought home all the things I’d stitched for her in the 80’s and 90’s and honestly, some even I don’t want anymore! Be kind to yourself. My mom still wore stockings!
I am so sorry you lost your mom.😢 It is so difficult. I find comfort in stitching a piece with a good ratio of color changes and block stitching. Sending hugs to you and yours.🥰
I’m so sorry about your mom. I was happy to see you brought home pieces from her home. I stitched for my mom too and when her days end, I’ll recover the Mirabilia hanging in her room. Thanks for walking through your pinning process. I learned exactly the way you described, way back in the 90s! I used to do it and maybe I’ll try it again as I bet it’s really relaxing.
Christine, I am so sorry at the passing of your Mom. I lost my Mom in 2014 and will always wish we had more time together and that she could have met all of her great-grandchildren. I pray the special memories of your Mom and the love of your friends and family bring you comfort and peace. All of my stitching and creative endeavors bring me comfort and pleasure probably because I’m all about the process, and due to an essential tremor, I’ve embraced the slow stitch movement. ❤
Christine, I tend to be a lurker here at your channel but I had to send you my prayers in the loss of your precious Mama. What a beautiful woman she was...loved seeing all the pictures. And yes, I am 69 and the oldest of three girls and I wear hose to prevent people shrieking in horror at my white legs.:) We lost our mother last year so I know it is a blessed and a hard thing. Our mother was ready for heaven as well. I love your Folksy Thomas. I am working on Plum Street's American Welcome along with several other large projects. I keep telling myself it is not a race...just take my time and do it right. Because counting is hard.:)
My deepest sympathies on the passing of your mother. It brought tears to my eyes, because your mom died on my mom's birthday. We celebrate my mom's birthday every year with a hot fudge sundae, because that was her favorite treat. I was okay for a while after my mom passed away, but I did have a meltdown or two later on. I think about her every day, and I have pictures of her in my room. I lived with her and took care of her after my father died, and I would do it again if given the opportunity. It was such a privilege to give her all that they needed and wanted in the last few years of her life. My mom had dimentia, and many days were filled with frustration, but lots of laughter as well. She loved Twinkies and ate an entire box of 24 in the middle of the night one time. Once again, I am sorry for your loss, but one day you will look back with laughter, memories and stories.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It sounds very similar as my Mom developed vascular dementia and we found snacks in her drawer..including some Twinkies!
Christine - I’m so sorry for the loss of your Mom❤. I lost my Mom in 2009 and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of her. Remember all the wonderful memories and the gift of the 6 additional years you had for you. Sending you love and prayers ❤
I’m so very sorry for your loss, Christine. Your photos at the end of your mom were precious. Thank goodness for stitching to comfort us and give us quiet moments to remember. ❤❤❤ Your projects are beautiful. Liberty’s Welcome is stunning!
I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. Hard times I know. My mother passed away in 2017, she was my best friend and my next-door neighbor, we spent every evening together for years and I still miss her so much to this day. As a Christian, I cannot wait to see her again someday in heaven. Prayers for your family’s healing.
I'm so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing Christine- I know how hard that is. Please know that you're in my Prayers. Love to see all your finishes- they're beautiful. My comfort stitching takes many forms, some is easy 18 count aida for when I want to stitch but my eyes need rest, some is fill in for when I'm visiting with friends but need to have my hands busy, some is yummy stitching on a piece that I love to focus on and some is stitching for others and thinking of them while I'm stitching it.
So sorry for your loss. I lost my mom this year on May 8th. She was 91 yrs old and i had her for 65 years. Miss her every day. I turned to cross stitch 3 yrs ago during a time of great grief. My son was a Dr and was shot while working in New York. He survived but has suffered so much. I turned to stitching as it felt so much like meditating and i could find so much peace in the physical stitch.
I was saddened to hear of your mom’s passing; it is always hard. I lost my mom on Christmas Eve 2023 and I truly miss her so much. She was 97 and was ready to go but it is hard. I spent a lot of time with her and we spent many hours doing our cross stitch and shopping for antiques. I would guess that you have many wonderful memories of time spent with your mom. I pray they will give you some joy and peace as you remember the special times with her. Blessings to you and your family.
Heartfelt sympathy to you and your family on the passing of your mom. How amazing you had her with you for much longer than originally anticipated! Your stitching finishes are all beautiful! I love the Plum Street Rhode Island samplers! So gorgeous! For me, stitching is definitely my comfort and my get-away. I have metastatic cancer and it helps me to focus on the joy of life, instead of the cancer. I enjoy seeing all your stitching, so a summer or autumn stitch parade would be fun!
My deepest sympathies to you and your family on the passing of your Mom. I still miss my Mom everyday. I’m glad you have the stitched pieces you made for her. The piece sent to you for your daughter was such a stitch kindness.
So good to see you. Hugs, love and prayers during this time. Enjoyed seeing your stitching updates. My comfort stitching would be anything by Blackbird Designs…there is just something about their style and colors. Take care.
Hello Christine. My sympathy to you on the loss of your mother. My mother passed away in August and when we went through her home I also collected my cross stitch finished items and now have them in my home. Your projects are beautiful! I try to stitch daily and look forward to seeing you next April. Emily
My heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mom! May you hold on to the memories and may the memories hold on to you! Thank you for sharing your stitching and the love for your family! Appreciate you! ❤
Hugs on the loss of your mama. It's hard. Yesterday was my dad's birthday and we lost him 2.5 years ago over Thanksgiving. His birthday was the 5th of July. Lost mom in 2017 over Easter. I hope your memories are sweet and outlast your sadness.
So sorry for your loss, Christine. We lost Dad last summer, rather suddenly. So I've been holding Mom extra tight lately, even though she lives a couple of hours away. When it comes to comfort stitching, I tend to gravitate toward things that remind me of people I love or times when I felt especially content. If it's cross stitch, lately that's been some of my own designs. One is an Anne of Green Gables-themed sampler, because that series of books comforts me. And another is a piece with a cardinal on it, that makes me think of Dad. Other times, it might be working something Mom taught me to do. Or her telling me how her grandmother used to knit socks for all of the siblings. Copenhagen blue with pink cuff stripes and toes. Apparently she had a lot of those colors of yarn. Mittens, too. The colors would shift around but always Copenhagen blue and bright pink. Therefore, knitting socks or mittens in those colors are also comfort knitting to me, now. Handsewing and mending, as well as English Paper Piecing are also comfort stitching for me.
You have my deepest condolences on the loss of your dear mother. It sounds like she went through a lot the last few years of her life. I’m glad she appreciated your beautiful stitching! ❤
So sorry for your loss! I’m so glad you had those 6 bonus years to treasure as well as sharing your love of stitching. Sounds like a rich heritage. Take care😌
Congratulations on all your gorgeous framed pieces and finishes! So sorry for your loss! Your mother was a beautiful lady! May you find the comfort you need whether it be through stitching or in the cherished memories you have of her!
So sorry for your loss. You mentioned comfort stitching and for me that is stitching something familiar which is Quaker Reproduction samplers. When my Dad was going through his treatments my Mom and I would sit with him and I stitched on my Quakers. He passed and I stitched on my Quakers. I have stitched and framed 15 and they are on my wall.i once mentioned to my Mom that nobody wanted my Quakers when I am gone and she said she wanted them. That made me smile as I don't really think she understood what I was saying. My mom passed in 2021 and every time I look at my Quaker sampler wall I smile and think of her. Comfort stitching.
Christine - I am so sorry for your loss. I know what this feels like and it’s very hard to go through. Cherish the memories and give yourself one day at a time to heal. Thank you for sharing the pieces you stitched for her. Beautiful. My comfort stitching is about keeping my hands busy and enjoying the rhythm of stitching. It’s a quiet time for me to enjoy and center. You’re keeping your hands busy - that takes care of a lot of things in life. Love and prayers to you. Your finishes are beautiful. Stay the course. ❤
So very sorry for your loss. It's so hard losing a loved one. My mother passed away this June as well and it has been a difficult time. Comfort stitching to me is any cross stitching. The Told in a Garden project was such a generous gift from a viewer and so gorgeous. Your Plum street finish is beautiful and so is your Blackbird design's finish. I would be happy to see your autumnal stitching.
I lost my mama in 2007. Miss her everyday. I'm sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing some of the pieces you made for her and honoring her. ❤Comfort stitching for me is something I do, cross stitch or crocheting, and helps me deal and get rid of my own anxiety and gives me a slow rhythmic peace. I love to make things I thing someone I know would like and I like to think that brings comfort to them as well.
My condolences on the loss of your mom. I lost mine unexpectedly July 2021. I stitch everyday to unwind. If I am having a bad day or high anxiety stitching comforts me especially if it is a project for my children or grandchildren.
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. I still miss mine to this day. There are times I still want to talk to her and get her opinion on something. She gave the greatest advice and I always knew I could trust it. My comfort stitching is covering my walls as well as making pieces my family will have to remember me by and know I made every stitch. That gives me comfort. My mom’s walls were full of my stitching and she loved every piece. I had her stitching the last several years of her life. I can relax with my stitching. It is therapeutic for me. Enjoy your time with your stitching friends. That is what you need right now. Take care.
I can empathize with you, Christine, on the passing of your mother. It's not an easy thing to get through. My mother taught all us girls embroidery when we were young; then later shared cross stitch with us. After Dad retired, she started working the Lavender & Lace angels. While I didn't inherit any of the completed angels, I did get several of the angel charts. I have one of them in progress now, and it definitely gives me some comfort. I hope I can collect a few more of those charts and continue the angel stitching as a tradition. I think my son and his family would like them enough to keep them after I pass into eternity. PS Your Etsy shop is one of my favorites. There is always something great to find (and buy) there.
@@HollisHandsCreate Pillow cases and tea towels... that sure brought back some memories of the items I worked. Grandmas and aunties were always so glad to receive such gifts from us girls. I'd been thinking recently of making such items for the grandkids. Everyone needs a pillowcase, the girls might appreciate kitchen towels.
Hollis, I had not realized your mom had passed away. It is a hard loss for a woman particularly, I think. We are usually so close to our moms and identify with them. I’m glad you had those 6 years at the end to spend time with her before she moved on to a much better life. Thank you for those wonderful pictures of her…..what a beautiful lady and she looked like she had a wonderful sense of humor!……..Comfort stitching is what I try to do every day for a time in the afternoon, often to ease the time between lunch and a chore I’m not looking forward to doing!!!!! If I can stitch an hour or so then, I go more cheerfully to clean the bathroom or some other such necessary task. And I stitch in the evening while watching TV. If the program requires a lot of attention, I don’t get much stitching done, but if we just watch one news program after another (bad idea!) I can put in quite a few stitches! I really enjoyed your lineup in this flosstube. I’m going to start the Blackbird piece Away We Ride as my birthday start later this month. And I plan to start Mighty Acorn by Blackbird on the first day of fall, so if you concentrate on fall and Halloween stitching, I’d be delighted! Take care. Carol in Texas
I’m so sorry about your mom. You inspired me to start Liberty’s Welcome on Memorial Day. I loved it so much I finished it already I changed color of house and the name at bottom. I will post on Instagram if I remember how.
I’m so sorry for your loss. May God’s peace fill you. Your finishes are beautiful! What are the other 3 charts by Plum Street for which you used the same frame? Thank you for another great visit.

Love to see and hear about those Patriotic designs! ❤ I finished “Summer’s Song”recently too.

I turned to stitching as it felt so much like meditating and i could find so much peace in the physical stitch.
Thank you. I’m so sorry for your loss as well. Our hobby is a source of therapy for us as we create. This I am realizing more each day
My deepest sympathy for the passing of your mother. Beautiful pictures.
Thank you for your kind words ☺️
I was saddened to hear of your mom’s passing; it is always hard. I lost my mom on Christmas Eve 2023 and I truly miss her so much. She was 97 and was ready to go but it is hard. I spent a lot of time with her and we spent many hours doing our cross stitch and shopping for antiques. I would guess that you have many wonderful memories of time spent with your mom. I pray they will give you some joy and peace as you remember the special times with her. Blessings to you and your family.
Thank you so much Pam!
I will be keeping you in my thoughts as you battle. Keep stitching!
Take care.
Thank you Merritt! And thank you for the sweet card my friend 🥰
Hello Christine. My sympathy to you on the loss of your mother. My mother passed away in August and when we went through her home I also collected my cross stitch finished items and now have them in my home. Your projects are beautiful! I try to stitch daily and look forward to seeing you next April.
Emily
Thx Emily and I look forward to seeing you as well 🥰
My heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mom! May you hold on to the memories and may the memories hold on to you! Thank you for sharing your stitching and the love for your family! Appreciate you! ❤
Wonderful tribute to your mom ❤. Thanks so much for the sharing you do!!! I can wait to see the fall spotlight 🎃🎃🎃🎃
Thank you so much my friend!
Hugs on the loss of your mama. It's hard. Yesterday was my dad's birthday and we lost him 2.5 years ago over Thanksgiving. His birthday was the 5th of July. Lost mom in 2017 over Easter. I hope your memories are sweet and outlast your sadness.
Thank you and the same for you 🥰
So sorry for your loss, Christine.
I am so sorry for your loss. Truly a devastating event. I have experienced it also. ❤❤
You have my deepest condolences on the loss of your dear mother. It sounds like she went through a lot the last few years of her life. I’m glad she appreciated your beautiful stitching! ❤
She did. Especially the last year. I appreciate your taking the time to send your kind thoughts!
Thank you! I dare say it will take both ☺️
So sorry for your loss.
I truly love this and it does really express the definition of comfort!
I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a mom is so hard.
Thank you so much ☺️
I am so sorry for your loss! My mother lived with me for her last 13 years. Their passing leaves a big hole in our lives. I Enjoy your channel!
Please accept my condolences on your loss as well!
Take care.
Thank you!
Condolences to you and your family. I lost my mom 18 years ago and it still seems like yesterday. Miss talking and sharing life with her.
Thank you so much! My mom also taught me embroidery as a young girl. Pillowcases and tea towels 🥰
Thank you Carol!!
I’m so sorry about your mom. You inspired me to start Liberty’s Welcome on Memorial Day. I loved it so much I finished it already I changed color of house and the name at bottom. I will post on Instagram if I remember how.
Wow! Good for you 😁
❤🙏🏼
I’m so sorry for your loss. May God’s peace fill you. Your finishes are beautiful! What are the other 3 charts by Plum Street for which you used the same frame? Thank you for another great visit.
Hi there! There other 3 are Heritage, Equality and A New Constellation. I show them all in one of my two prior videos…I believe the April one 🥰
I’m very sorry about your Mom..
I am so sorry.
