Kangal Vs Ovcharka
In this video, a Kangal is being attacked by a Caucasian shepherd dog. The Caucasian shepherd dog is an extremely vicious and powerful dog. In the video, the Shepherd dog is biting the Kangal’s back, but the Kangal’s large skin allows him to endure the bite of the shepherd dog without flinching. The shepherd’s bite has approximately 250 pounds of pressure per square inch. It only takes the Kangal a few seconds to free himself from the shepherd and go on the attack. Unfortunately for the shepherd, it finds itself in the grip of one of the most powerful dogs but is eventually able to escape the fight. In the end, the tail posture of the Caucasian shepherd means it has an attitude.

I must admit this is not a very big bear, but it’s still extremely impressive to see the way this Kangal is taking it to the bear. The Kangal is the aggressor, and the bear just wants to get out of this scuffle alive. In this video, these two Kangals bark at a much larger bear, but they know he is not to be messed with. One of the dogs tries to bite the tail of the bear, but the second the bear turns around, the dogs back off and just keep barking. The bear doesn’t try chasing the dogs. He just ignores them and continues his journey. It’s the dogs that are complaining about the bear’s presence.

I heard the story from my friend about a kangal facing a pack of 6 wolves. Although outnumbered the kangal confronted the wolves and stood his ground. Unfortunately the shepherd (my friends grandfather) arrived too late with his shotgun to repel the pack and his kangal was mortally wounded by too many bites and died the same night. But his bravery saved the flock, he fulfilled his duty paying the ultimate price. There can't be a dog breed more loyal, brave and fearless than a kangal. Like a Spartan breed!

Respect for the Kangal breed they are big strong and fearless against predators with possibly the strongest bite force of all breeds(750 pounds). Another huge guardian dog is the Volkodav dog. His canine teeth look like a lion's teeth and he may have a stronger bite force than the Kangal.

We have a Kangal, he's a bit larger, becouse of he's father's supreme genes (his father was 190lbs nőt mixed with any mastiff's) Our dog is 170 lbs, but he is a gentle giant. Once we were walking whlie a german sheperd owner let his guard down, and his dog ran at me. It was a big german sheperd, but my Kangal liturally took him down in seconds. It was really scary. The other dog nearly died, but my Kangal let him off after he fought him down. Some of those Kangals in some of the clips were small, and not fully grown. We can say, Kangals are the most dangerous of dog breeds in the world, if one goes nuts. They have the strongest bite of any kind of dogbreed, weigh at 100-120 lbs average (can go much larger) and are very agile and smart. If they bite something, they likely try to pin it down using thier bodies and than at that point in a fight where they usually win. A german sheperd can't stand a chanche against a fully grown Kangal, niether does a rottweiler, amd even the Cane Corso.

For those discussing it. North American wolves are very large and are both territorial and predatory animals. Buttt… just like other wild animals, they’re primary behavior reflects survival like bears. Both Bears and Wolves get easily scared off by humans and other animals when not in a protective matter like bear cubs or wolf pups. Therefore, a pack of Kangals protecting livestock, each other, or humans would most likely result in Kangals absolutely destroying a wolf pack. The will to protect in canines is huge.

Let's compare the most powerful wolf, the gray wolf to a kangal :
A Kangal's bite force is 740 psi when a gray wolf's is 400. Plus Kangal's also have special collars to protect them against wolf bites in a large area around the neck. For those saying that some of the wolves are giants there are also giant Kangals and these are a lot more terrifying (130kg vs 79kg) .And also on average they are bigger and heavier than gray wolves and roughly the same speed (35 vs 37mph)

Why were you showing immature Kangal's against full grown dogs. It's easy to see you were trying to create a false impression. I have a Kangal. They are much bigger than German Shepards and other dogs, I have seen his reaction to pit bulls as my neighbor has 3 extremely large dogs. Watch the tail, if it's up and curled they're ready for battle and the 740-psi bite will literally crush another dogs' bones. Mine never gets in fights because I won't allow him to socialize that way. He's a big sweetheart.
I have a Kangal and a GSD/malinois mix and Kangal was even bigger than the mix when he was 5 months old. These dogs are actually Kangal colored street dogs, these are common dog type in Turkiye. Kangal looks more like a miniature polar bear than a big dog
Size has nothing to do with winning a fight to the death. Also, the fact you call your dog a sweetheart and do not let them socialize with other dogs likely means it has anxiety issues and wouldn't know the slightest how to fight to survive. All that weight does not come at an advantage. The reality is when a Pitbull gets a hold of any animals neck, they are not going to let go until they know the animal is dead by bleeding out or they rip the throat out. German Sherpard are just simply intelligent fighters by pure genetics so that 740-psi would be to slow to out pace a Shepard who would be like Gracie in the early days of UFC - wear his ass out by exhaustion.

A correction sir. Please stop giving fake information that Kangal can take on a bear. Kangal vs wolf one on one I may still agree a Kangal. But no dog, I repeat no dog, whatever the breed may be, stands no chance even against a leopard. So to think any dog can fight a tiger or lion which are must bigger and stronger than a leopard is just over imagination. And bears are so powerful that even tigers and lions cannot take them one on one. So imagine your kangal v a bear. Most unfortunate part is that people shoot bears and wolf, make them handicapped and then release dogs like kangal other dog breeds to attack the wounded animal just for shooting youtube videos.

Beat it not made of iron, steel, titanium etc. They are made of flesh, bones and blood.
Even a 50 kilo smalest female Kangal can bite a back leg bone of a bull and eat it like it is butter. We do feed the dogs with that type of food. Dog grabs the bone and breaks it in half with in few seconds.

These dogs are at least 3 or 4 times faster than a bear, their reflex and adgility are way way more than bear or even wolves.
Additionally, they are extremely smart and know exactly how to attack and defend against to any kind of predator. They aren't stupid to attack directly to bear from the front, while bear facing them.
Females usually will go behind the bear (or wolf, lion, tiger, dragon etc what ever it is), literally try to gram the balls or tail of that animal, while one of the females or other male trying to grab the neck from the behind. While all these happening, the fully grown Alpha male pack leader Kangal will directly charge from the front and directly attack the throat of the animal. Once it grabs the throat, no animal will survive that bite, because they actually measuring the bearth or the pray and never let it go, untill it stop breathing.
Average Turkish shepherd never attack like normal dogs do. Attacking arm, legs,go low down while attacking.
They will directly go for neck, throat, face etc. most deadly part of a creature. They do not grap and lock like pitrbuls, untill they catch the throat. Once they catch any dearly part, they will never let it go, no matter how much damage they take during the fight.
Having a Kangal or Turkish shepherd dog pack is more like having a North American wolf pack, those %20 to 60 bigger than wolves, but way smarter, fearless and adgile.
Their personality and pack behavior is almost like wild wolves.

These dogs has been with the Turks for more than 2000 years from the far east ot Mongolian border to most west of Europe, from Siberia to all the way south of Arabian peninsula and north Africa. Wild predators, lions, bears, tigers, humans, human wars and battles etc. they seen it all and survived for more than 2000 years and carried over the genes one to the next generation, with very little human enrolment.....

I suspect a Kangal breeder would test your strength with a Kangal and if you couldn't hold it he would not sell to you. I've seen ONE Kangal pull two grown men against their will.

I have a Kangal and a GSD/Malinois mix, believe me Kangal was even bigger than my mixed dog when he was 5 months old. These mixed breeds looks like Kangal. But actually in Turkiye these dogs are more like common stray dog type, go anywhere and you will see these type of dogs everywhere in streets buy Kangals are huge, i mean Kangals look more like a polar bear than a dog.

In the USA they would be called an anatolian shepherd dog. Due to the original importers not understanding the regional breeds being used in Turkey. Luckily they eventually moved to only using pure documented kangels.

Growing up we had 2 dogs that looked like Kangals, but, they were a mix of Great Pyrenees and Irish Wolfhound. Max and Clancy was their names, Max weighed 225 and Clancy was 240 pounds !

Owners training dog aggression via different dog breed, interesting. Probably toughen them up for sales. Read up that in Turkey villages life are pretty harsh and they need really tough dogs with experience to start working with or could simply be training and selling for dogfights, it is common over in turkey.

While kangals are large and strong, some make the mistake of thinking they are the toughest dogs that are the best dog to have in a battle with another dog or animal. That is not the case. There are American Pitbulls that get the upper hand on kangals and beat them. What usually happens is that the kangals give up or run away if they are not able to quickly win in the first few minutes, which is often the case for a dog like the American Pitbull that is bred to be strong enough and tough enough to control wild boar and bulls. Kangals were bred for deterrence to scare off hungry animals, usually smaller species of wolves, from attacking sheep. People use livestock guardian dogs specifically because it is a more humane way of keep predators away. However, American Pitbulls were actually bred to take on other animals one on one in things like bull baiting and dog combat.

We have working Kangals, They are not lap dogs or fighting dogs they work with and protect livestock.
As a farm owner from Turkey, I do not feed any of the dogs shown as kangal in this video. These dogs are actually dog breeds that we call Anatolian Shepherd Dogs. the kangal becomes much larger and stronger, and its head is usually completely black. sometimes he may have a white line on his nose.
but it's definitely twice the size of them. If I were to put a guard dog in an enclosed garden, it would be a Malaklı or haymana karası dog. they are even bigger than the kangal. I have a male malaklı dog weighing 95 kg.
The Haymana Karası is almost the same size as the Kangal, but is a much more aggressive dog breed. They are known for killing people. Kangals are large field dogs that we usually use when grazing sheep in the field. and they often attack wild animals instead of humans.

Methodical breeding began in 1889. This breed was created by Captain Max Fréderic Emile Von Stephanitz from the crossing of shepherd dogs from central and southern Germany. The goal was to create a working dog, very intelligent and physically strong for herding herds.

When I was in Turkey after tending the herds, I saw some going into the mountains and they came back with blood covered from head to toe.

In some videos either the kangal is a mix (fake) or a female, Believe me, I'm not a fan of Kangals, just as I prefer the German Shepherd more than Kangals. But this is a question of logic German Shepherds will have very little chance against a line kangal, who guards his herds .

The only thing I took away from this video is, there are people all over the world who should not be allowed to own a dog, let alone a Kangal dog!
Just show an adult kangal, and these little petite dogs will see honestly the gsd and the pitbull are strong, but if a fully grown kangal came out it would've teared them apart
Kangals, as well as all dogs will avoid fighting a formatable opponent, except in self-defense. The fighting pitbull is an exception. He will charge any animal, without hesitation even thow it may mean his own death. The courage of a true fighting pitbull is legendary.
Not against a full blood kangal trained in turkey to protect live stock, doesn’t matter if the pit charges it, the kangal will crush its neck with one bite and throw it around like a rag doll, the kangal when trained , will fight to the very death, and will back down from nothing
I witnessed a drop bear tearing a Kangal's throat apart, just outside of Kickatinalong. Horrible sight, poor dog

I feel like the Chihuahua is more aggressive than the Kangal. Maybe not as powerful.
It's also obvious that the tiger was declawed... sadly .
