Amazing how you take it from 'annoying wind noise' to "peaceful breeze". Wherever you are, it looks like paradise.

Just to bring a smile to your face Markus …
I did a job where I had to interview people on the beach for the UK Tourist Board. On the final video, a request came back, could you add slight wind noises and the fairground in the back?
Sometimes, they just don’t want complete isolation from external noise!! 😂

Cardboard. A few years ago we were shooting a piece on the Seattle Waterfront. We had the talent walking along reading his lines from cue cards. The camera was on a dolly and I had a . sennheiser 416 on a boom mic, on a pose above the talent. About a half hour into shooting, the wind came up. I had not brought along a dead cat or blimp. I sent one of my guys dumpster diving to find something to block the wind. After finding a large piece of cardboard we moved the mic below the talent and used the cardboard to block the wind. Worked like a charm.

THANK YOU! I thought I was only one who got cheesed off seeing people wearing those Wi-Fi mic modules on the outside. I'm willing to bet those same people have no idea what a "network loop" (or "broadcast loop" in some places) for a lav mic is and how you make it...LOL! Love watching you. Keep having FUN!

Funny great tips, Markus! Love your prostate example!
We've been wearing the Tascam DR 10L lavs with the round ball dead cats (actually my wife Terri prefers to call them Tribbles) just at neck-line whilst shooting our beach metal detecting videos. Great to cut the wind down, but visible in some shots. I'll have to move them under the shirts to be more presentable. But for our Detecting Duo videos, I don't think the audience cares too much.
    Keep them coming! Cheers- Scott

Interesting timing as I have been shooting videos over the past few days in quite windy conditions. I use a Rycote Super Softie with my Sennheiser ME66 and I have used it for a number of years now. I have tried some other, including Rycote furry windshields and I noticed when I switched to the Super Softie, it lowers the wind noise well and it gave me a clearer sound and does not muffle any frequencies that some furry windshields can potentially. I mount the mic on a shockmount on my cameras shoe, and there is no issue of any furry bits blowing down and showing up on the top of the shot as the Super Softie doesn't have any fur.

Thank you Markus, excellent video! Speaking for myself, I wouldn't mind being seen with a lavalier on my shirt with a fluffy windbreaker. I know it looks like something a cat barfed up, but if it works it works! :-D My little TH-cam productions are not as professional as yours, so for my specific use-case I think I will survive clipping a hair-ball onto my shirt. Even so, your triangle tape trick is absolutely awesome. I'll certainly use it like that in winter when I have more than one layer of clothing, my chest is too hairy otherwise (yep, I'm more than half Neanderthal) so the tape might just end up causing very loud "issues"...
