When I was in middle school our English teacher let us listen to songs in English to learn grammar in a funny way, now, all the students in the class were very bad at English but there was a student who was very good at it (just like me). I had a crush on him but never told him, and so while I was thinking about this, there was the part "but it's time to face the truth, I will never be with you" playing in the classroom, and I thought: "It is true" haha. Now everytime I listen to this part of the song I think of the way I felt and I start laughing.

@@itsarmille the original lyric "fucking high" hits harder. makes it clear that the reason he'll never be with her is because he's a self-loathing, hopeless junkie. "flying high" doesn't really get that across as well because it could mean he's really happy to see her or something. it takes it from being a story about seeing a woman so beautiful on the subway you immediately fall in love and go home and write a song about her, which is pretty cheesy and boring, to being about the pain of seeing the way beautiful women look at him because he's got a drug problem and being reminded that he's alone because of it.
