    Really liked that video and the real world stats you were giving. A lot of people don't show what the stats are when driving fast.

    Great vid! I plan on going on a trip from LA to Yosemite and this gave me a rough idea of the drive there

    I love that supercharger in Traver! They have a little dog park there, and if you go during business hours a little restaurant and novelty store and nice restrooms. Also, glad to see that it's not just my car that constantly lies to me on road trips about how much range % I'll have left by the time I reach the next supercharger haha

    Great video, but as a Nevadan, this proves my theory that Californians speed by default. Going 80 in a 55 😂

    Assuming the road is flat - What is the ideal speed to maximize range/Wh/mi?

    • @BeersNBullshit

      Drag increases exponentially with the increase of speed. So it's a give and take. The slower you go the better efficiency you get, but there's a safety aspect and diminishing returns. 65 is pretty efficient, 70 is ok also. 75-80 or more is where you start really burning energy faster.

    i'm going up there this weekend with a tesla too! just wondering, did they check for tire chains?

      Omg, I actually went again 2 weeks ago and should post a vid by tomorrow! They didn't require, but lot of people had them, it's VERY icy. I do have a different car now (M3P, not M3LR like in this video), my tires are Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4, they performed great.
      Go super early in the morning, 5-6am, because the line was so huge when I was leaving the park later in the day, I don't think some people even made it there!

      @@CBRF thanks for the reply! i'm not sure if i should go up with chains since i don't really want to go through the hassle of buying it and putting it on!
      also i'll be sure to get there as early as i can! sounds crazy how many people are going up to yosemite at this time but it's probably the best time of the year right now!

      I think the rule was something like "awd cars with proper tires - no chains required", also if u go 5-6am, there's noone at the entrance to check the park pass or chains, so u just drive thru, and you get to watch the sunrise at the tunnel view, it's great! Also keep in mind that it does NOT look the same as on this video - at least 2 weeks ago, there was A LOT of snow everywhere, but might be different now since it got a little warmer there.
      I drove about 20-25mph and had no problem with no chains.
      The line was really bad, mostly because people were putting chains on and it's 1 lane road, but I went early and had no problem getting in and out.
      I should post the vid either tonight or tomorrow morning, so stick around to see what I'm talking about and enjoy your trip! Waterfalls were flowing even in that cold and it looked magical.

    I had wanted to loop from san diego to Yosemite and down hwy 1. After routing out the 22hr drive time in about 1200 miles, it required 4hrs of charging so Ive decided I'll just take my ICE. I used ABRP and set it so that i never go below 30% and always topped it out at 90%. I didnt want to be stuck as the projected range is always 30% more optimisitc given the way I drive.

    I'm from LA as well. Been looking into Tesla but I haven't been getting a definitive answer on how much insurance is for a 23 year old on these cars. If you don't mind me asking, how much is it to insure these cars every 6 months/1 year?

    • @CBRF
      @CBRF  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got my first tesla at 23 as well and insurance in LA runs at about $300/mo.
      Edit: it was a LR AWD model 3 (the one on the video, later was traded-in), but the rate didn't really change when I switched to performance. Now I'm 25 and it's just $20 less.

      @@CBRF Wow that's pretty steep. But I guess it makes up for not having to do oil changes, fill up on gas, etc... I drive a Jeep and let's just say I have to fill it up about 3-4 times a week. And the gas prices aren't really helping lol. Out of curiosity, how's the maintenance on a Tesla Model 3? Are they pretty reliable?

    • @CBRF
      @CBRF  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Build quality is very disappointing and I made 3 videos on how horrible their service experience is.
      Besides that, the only maintenance you have to do are tires (1.2-1.6k per 4 every 30k miles), washer fluid ($3), air filter for AC ($35/25k miles)
      So yeah, tires are the most expensive thing, they also get worn out quick due to electric torque

    • @NJR98
      @NJR98 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CBRF Got it. So just tires and insurance is where they get you. Also, thank you for answering fast! I appreciate that.

    You don't have home charger and you bought a tesla?
