AF is my modern line. Coming in late GI Joe for me remains firmly in the 80s and as such I am happy to stay vintage there. Hasbro seems tp have difficulty capturing the modern asthetic of combat wear, trying to remain nostalgic yet update and I feel the result misses in both fields. Hasbro probably can't make up the ground as it will keep focusing on capturing nostalgia, whereas AF can ignore that and move forward in a styling more recognised from 20 yrs of War of Terror media.

I think they compliment each other. Hasbro started course correcting, grounding the characters in more realistic fashion than fantastical. Because they focused sooooooo much on Cobra, in that you can build a Cobra army easily and cannot on the Joe side, Action Force Delta figures fill that gap and become the Grunts. I got four with two different gear sets. You can form squads and there is no glaring difference.
Action Force has a similar historical background as GIJOE. They were a toy line prevalent in the UK back in the late 70s early 80s. They were a series that were always rooted in real-military. With that said, the secret to Action Force's success is that they target Classified, and seek to compliment, fix or enhance GIJOE Classified figures. In that regard, they positioned themselves to never be completely overtaken by Hasbro.
For example, they released gear to convert your 1st Wave Gung Ho into more the Gung Ho folk wanted. They released Sgt. Slaughter a year before Hasbro.
I have the Delta Gear on Duke and it fits perfectly and is in line with the original 1980s version, in that he came with a helmet.
However, I am not a big fan of Valaverse's character design. I won't knock their ability to sculpt or create original characters, it's just some lines look bargin-bin in terms of color design and features.

Valaverse Action Force if forward thinking, whereas GI Joe Classified is continually looking backwards for nostalgia. Hasbro seems to have forgotten that the success of GI Joe:RAH in the '80s was largely based on innovation and new characters...

While I do agree innovation got them there, we have sadly seen this play out in other hobbies, I can name 5 miniature wargames that are far superior to Warhammer, but it's brand becomes the reason to play it over Bolt Action or Infinity, despite a laundry list of reasons I could point to that these games are better bang for your buck. Unfortunately the big dog in the block can simply give Malibu Stacy a new hat and likely date the majority.

When Hasbro goes forward, not good, When they scale back...not good. So here's the thing When you can release a steady concept that you like of course you will like it. Even Moreso if it's the same price or better. Now, are you going to get vehicles, or intrinsic designs cheaper. It's great to enjoy a new updated concept. Some of Classified tried the wider base, now backtracking. So...what do you want? Where are you in your "looks"? You like Valaverse, fine, but it's do you want a G I Joe Duke. That Valaverse can deliver a better figure, but the gray Condor isn't Duke.

Which is my point, the thing Hasbro has in their side is the characters and the brand loyalty. As a huge Trek fan, I will be picking up the new playmates trek line, and even if Star Wars black has more articulation, or better sculpts, playmates will have to really mess up for me not to likely buy into it because Hasbro isn't doing a star trek black.

Valaverse won't. Hiss tank shows that. It's the characters. No hate to Action Force. It's a great kicker. Better than all the third party Transformers. It's very hard to compete. Granted the mega dumb exclusive figures do not help Classified. We have gotten comic and obscure Transformers. Hasbro is dedicated to TF not Joe or Star Wars, or Marvel. Transformers is the main line.

@@NerdRageAgainsttheMachine which is where I have to say Hasbro innovated pinless. They also innovated mini Transformers masterpieces. You can get better higher end stuff, no lie. However lio Prime...he was 150...voyager 30 bucks....

@@tonyjackson4078 innovated painless? I'm not sure about that, they certainly did not push this innovation to their lines very quickly heck the last Joe Classified I purchased (spirit iron knife) still had pins and that was released a good time after Action Force wave one.
