    Thank you so much for this video. I'm taking a Ableton class and was having trouble with editing MIDI and velocities and got no help and you answered all my questions and more.

    Wow I never knew you could use the pencil tool to draw in the velocity, super useful!

    Wow, that copy/transpose thing is really cool. I always just assumed that when a midi note existed, if you copied something onto it, the original was erased.

      It is INCREDIBLY useful! I use it all the time since I discovered it.

    When working with a MIDI rack of different length kick samples - What's the best way to adjust the length of EVERY SAMPLE simultaneously to a particular note value (eg making your kicks no greater than say an 1/8th note or a 1/16th note)?
    Sure there's ADSR but a) you can't see what it's doing, and b) you have to do this for each sample in a drum rack!
    Edit - I put an LFOTOOL at end of my Rack and tuned it with a curve that works for all kicks (to a 1/16th note). I calibrated it against Fades I put on Audio files. I will next do for this for 1/8th note duration cuts.
    Just wondering - is there a better way or is what I have done here good enough?

    Excellent video thanks!
    (and well done for using an SM58 instead of one of those overpriced SM7B's which are just 58s in a poncy container!)

      Thanks!
      It's not even an SM58, it's a PG58, just a real cheapie! :)

    Very good video! Thank you. How would you change the velocity of a single note within a chord in the piano roll over time so that the single note within that chord has a prescribed (non-random) dynamic velocity that changes over time rather than a single static value? For example, if i have a play a C chord, but I only want the velocity of E note to fluctuate over the length of the chord, how would i do that? Thank you.

      Thank you!
      Unfortunately you can't do this using velocity, the way to do this would be with MPE using either Pressure or Slide, mapped to the volume of the synthesiser. You would just edit the MPE envelope of either the Pressure or Slide, whichever you've mapped, of that particular note. :)

    Thank you!!!! But is there a way to change and edit a MIDI note value to different tracks in Ableton? ie, C2 to a MIDI track, C#2 to another MIDI track, and so forth? I want to map a Drum, machine pad to its own exclusive MIDI Channel. Thanks bud!

      @matttinklermusic  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hm, I'm not entirely sure what you mean. Do you want to be able to send the same MIDI note to two different channels and make those two channels play two different notes?
      If this is the case then you can use MIDI effects and racks to do this, such as with the Pitch MIDI effect. :)

      @@matttinklermusicHey, I figured it out. I have to double click a Kick sample to Load the Sample. And an instance of Simpler will load that sample to the MIDI. My problem was I didnt know how to Load an Audio "device"(but in this case a one shot sample) to a MIDI track.

    Can you randomize the Chance?

    • @matttinklermusic
      @matttinklermusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think so, but that's an interested concept! You could effectively randomise chance using MIDI effects though.
