I am beginning to think there is nothing that you cannot do when you set your mind to it, looks great!

Thanks dude, it felt like I was constantly pulling it back from the brink of disaster. Good thing with wood is you can pull it out and re do it when it’s on the wonk !!

Well done. Thanks for sharing. It is really cool to see what building techniques and names for materials and equipment you used. Educational and entertaining. Congradulations on a awesome studio.

Full credit to you ,man. I have built 3 studios now . Seriously , there's only about a million times more work than originally expected in each of them . Certainly looks like you've nailed . Well done, man Enjoy.

Thanks dude, yeah it’s a full on mission, Last time I was constrained by the double Garage that was there. This time I could start from scratch and I prefer the setup overall. It all round works better!

Great video and great studio Jon!! I remember you did a video about your studio gear, I would love to see it again! Just a question do you use a HW channel strip for recording with plugins? I remember you used UA solo 610 as channel strip... am I right?

      Hey there,
Many thanks for the feedback. Well remembered! Yes I use the UA Solo as a mic pre and also the Pre’s in the UA Apollo. The main channel strip I use is the SSL plugin in the Apollo. The latest video is a bit more studio based?!

Great video. I'm also about to do this and I live in Redruth ✌️ where did you decide to get the cabin from?

Hey dude, I ordered the Cabin online, I think they are much of a muchness. The single garage ones were way cheaper than the garden room style?

Is there space for an acoustic drum kit? Would that be to loud and PO the neighbors?

      Many thanks for tuning in.
Yes, I have a small sized setup that I can put together. Sounds fine, it’s not as soundproof as my old live room, but I can record a guitar amp or small kit without any issues? TBH I mostly use the V drums to trigger superior ?

Two and a half years in and no issues. The breather membrane seems to work a treat. I definitely went overboard with the ground membranes, but is was worth it as no damp. We have had the worst winter on record for rain ☔️ so it’s been tested well. I work in here for hours at a time, no issues to report?

I guess a key thing I didn’t really go into was leaving air gaps between the layers. It goes 40mm logs, breather membrane, air gap, rock wool, gap, OSB, acoustic plasterboard
