This song always makes me cry. Because I listened to it while I was a junkie and couldn’t quit no matter how hard I tried. I was convinced I would die a addict. But with gods help and a lot of fighting sleepless nights I’ve been clean since 2013.

While it was intended as that I can say as someone who is in recovery for opiate addiction- growing up in the 90s, a lot of bands and movies tried to have a message meant to deter you from this- but it always had me romanticizing it. Terrified but intrigued.
i lost my best friend who introduced me to the smashing pumpkins. i lost him to opiods and alcohol. this video just makes me so nostalgic and makes me feel heard

When I first saw this video, I was clean for about 25 years. I always thank Christ for snatching me out of my haze of drugs and destruction of my life. Clean now for over 30 years. Never looked back. Sobriety is wonderful and life is so sweet when yr loved.

I was drunk one time walking around in phx az and I came across these addicts I sat with them, I was thinking of ending my life, they told me I shouldn't and they told me to never do drugs just after they did a shot in their arm, I hope they're okay and well wherever they are... Those words coming from them helped me.

This song holds a special place in my heart. Less than 2 years before it was released my 22 year old cousin Julie died of a heroin overdose after a couple of years battling addiction. I was 17 and she was my hero before her struggles. The ups and downs portrayed in this video create such mixed emotions for me to this day when I still look back and wonder if there is anything more I could have done to try and save her.
totally understand. My brother did the same two month ago. We say the same thing and miss him. He was a great guy with a great personality. I feel like he got cheated and we got cheated but its a choice he made that hurt all the family. I ll always wonder what i could of i have done but really i dont know what i could of done. my father exhausted all options but he still loved him even though he stole a lot from him. They made a mends two weeks before after his rehab but it was too hard and passed at home in his room. It hurts my dad so much but i told him you did what a father is suppose to do and he passed knowing his dad loved him and would do anything. He made the choice. It is a sickness we dont understand but is overpowering.

I cry everytime it gets to the end and her life flashes before her eyes, innocent and happy memories, gets me in the soul
I remember listening this song a year ago, i was really bad, passing with a lot of problems with myself, believing that nothing will change. But i was wrong, things changes, and i'm just a lot better, enjoying the life. Wow the memories.

In my opinion, those albums hearken back to the days of old.
They will never be as popular as Siamese Dream or Melancholy And The Infinite Sadness.
In pretty convinced many fans ears are clogged with nostalgia, and they wouldn't like anything Smashing Pumpkins release.
I honestly think if Siamese Dreams was released in 2017 instead of 1993, people would be calling it trash.
The new singles wont get played on the radio because the radio stations only play the same ten or twenty songs again and again on repeat.
Also, remember, many fans hated Adore and despised Machina and Machina 2.

Very underrated pumpkins song
I remember seeing another version of this video on MTV, back in 2000, where the guy rushes to the hospital but the room is empty because the woman died. I remember it made me feel unsettled and I cried every time I watched it.
This is my favourite song of all times, it represents in a whole what I want someone that will love each other no matter what happens, be it living on the streets or in a mansion love that is pure enough to with stand anything. This video brings a tear to my eye everytime I watch it, no matter how many times I watch it. Nothing beats this song or this video and I doubt anything ever will. Love you forever.

Got attached to this song/album when they released it. I was in high school. Dealing with the loss of my father during those years. Lured by addictions and thinking in that high school love you dream of too. Still makes my soul tremble this song but gladly I have overcomed most of those dark days when I was a teenager.

I have a uncle that he is an addicted from 1991 (something like that) with several convictions, rehabs, etc, etc. When you see the photos of him in the childhood, it's hard not to think that a certain point he died, the person that he was no longer exists, and that childhood innocence and happiness had become a bag of tears, pain and anger. Also, he tought me one thing (and he doesn't knows that): when you let the beloved ones running to a cliff, the most certain is them to die! So, don't wait for things to happen: do something before it's too late.

As a little girl when I first saw this video I felt so sad, I couldn't get it out of my mind. I like to think this helped me "trying to hold on" later when all shit happened and I had, for several times, the chance to choose self destruction.

This was our song. We would joke that I was going to be the one who was going to have to prostitute to have money. But in the end, she knows the only part of this video that would remind of us would be how the guy looks after her. No amount of pain would be enough to handle if she is ok. That was all about. Always. Still does.
There's a saying in spanish that can be roughly translated as " 'Woulds' do not exist" and thats true. Things are the way we want them to be. And well... this is no longer our song. It was but no more.

I was at that point myself. With my husband😖 He hated that I had to do it but he also had to do what he needed to try to get us off the street. Difference was I wasn't pregnant at the time and there were no drugs involved. Just terrible circumstances.

As a recovering heroin addict, this is difficult to watch. People cast aspersions on addicts, but that lifestyle, it ain't easy. Especially with heroin, you have no idea the hold that horrible drug can have on a person.

@fuzzluvver69 Wow as bad as addiction is, reality is children suffer the most so you cannot blame them for not understanding. there is trauma or abuse which is far worse, mentally and physically that can leave scares that last for a life time. Parents are meant to guide and protect, not fuck up and leave them to fend for themselves

Altho whenever I hear this song and especially watch the video it reminds me of that dark(and I mean DARK) period of my life when I was in a very similar situation as shown in this video and did partake in the same type of terrible activities as these 2, it also gives me good memories and good thoughts of me now. Overcoming that shit and seeing how far i’ve come, it’s pretty kool. And happy and grateful 2 b here to share this with others. Ain’t nobody said quitting was easy but it most def isn’t IMPOSSIBLE. Hope this helps someone.
