diornotwar123 No...I don't think that was it. Music of this type was incredibly popular in the late nineties, early 2000's...I'd say maybe people just found bands they liked more. Most likely its because CD writers and MP3's became a thing. People also don't seem to remember there was no TH-cam, things like that..MTV, radio stations, would've probably been the only advertising you'd get...besides word of mouth or seeing the album on the shelf.

      @gothicmetal76 6 ปีที่แล้ว +153

I agree. They had tons of great songs before Machina, but something about it made it stand apart from the rest, something I felt made it their best album. The lyrics of every songs were some of their best. With the return of Jimmy Chamberlin, he played his ass off and had some of the best drums of any of their albums. It just came out at the wrong damned time. The shift from Grunge and Alternative to Pop hurt. The 90s, to me, was the last great music era and this album was the icing on a decade long cake.

    • @MrAmc1291
      @MrAmc1291 6 ปีที่แล้ว +98

Machina was originally going to be a double album but their record label refused to release it due to the sales of Adore. So they had to split the record in two and due to the dismal sales of Machina, the label refused to release Machina II, hence why Billy released it for free over the internet.

    You and me
    Meant to be
    Immutable
    Impossible
    It's destiny
    Pure lunacy
    Incalculable
    Insufferable
    But for the last time
You're everything that I want and ask for
    You're all that I'd dreamed
Who wouldn't be the one you love
Who wouldn't stand inside your love
    Protected and the lover of
A pure soul and beautiful you
    Don't understand
    Don't feel me now
    I will breathe
    For the both of us
    Travel the world
    Traverse the skies
    Your home is here
    Within my heart
    And for the first time
I feel as though I am reborn
    In my mind
Recast as child and mystic sage
Who wouldn't be the one you love
Who wouldn't stand inside your love
    And for the first time
I'm telling you how much I need and bleed for
Your every move and waking sound
    In my time
I'll wrap my wire around your heart and your mind
    You're mine forever now
Who wouldn't be the one you love and live for
Who wouldn't stand inside your love and die for
Who wouldn't be the one you love

To add to what so many others are starting to say here, I will tell you why this song is so great and why other love songs are not like it: conviction. It's describing a love that is fueled by conviction, resolve, and one that is divine in origin, in Billy's own words. How many love songs do you hear saying things like "For the first time, I'm telling you how much I need and bleed for your every move and waking sound. In my time, I'll wrap my wire around your heart and your mind. You're mine forever now." And those lyrics in the musical setting they're in communicate a bold declaration of commitment and fact, almost devoid of emotion or opinion. That's a type of love that's an unmoving object, and that's freaking powerful. That's in a completely different universe from the love that pop music describes. It makes me happy to see this song so celebrated in the comments, as usually I don't hear this song praised anywhere near enough by Pumpkins fans.

In the 90’s I’d hear 20-30 year old classic rock music that stylistically sounded outdated even then. Fast forward to 2023 and I’m blown away on the rare occasions I hear this played on the local rock radio station-It doesn’t sound like a song from two decades ago. In contrast to what alt rock sounds like today, many SP songs seem invincible to the passing of time-like an immortal sonic vampire from the future

Corgan admitted in interviews that limp bizkit and Korn were all the rage at the time and that was what I was listening 2 also unfortunately. I was in love with the pumpkins until Ava adore which now I feel is the goat song/video they ever made. This music still stands out and holds its age when other bands dont. I feel they are finally getting the accolades they deserve bc of TH-cam and etc. Sometimes it appeals better years later imo unfortunately.
