You are so right .. people that haven't seen it just have no clue . I watched him play .. His stats don't lie . Championships depend on who your teammates were .. Had he been on the Celtics with Russell , what would that have been ? Russell could have been power forward.. Holy shit.. even more championships ..

I was very lucky to meet Wilt Chamberlain twice. The first time was on January 17, 1998. That’s when Wilt returned to his alma mater, the University of Kansas, after a 40 year absence for his jersey retirement. My best friend was in medical school at KU at the time and scored us two tickets. Man, I was so excited for that. I brought along a large Kansas coffee table book (should have brought a basketball) in hopes of getting Wilt’s autograph. When we got to Allen Fieldhouse, we were told that Wilt would not be signing autographs. Bummer. However, with about 2 minutes left in the game, the game announcer declared over the speakers, “Wilt Chamberlain will sign autographs after the game for a limited time!” So I jumped up from our nose-bleed seats and ran down to court level and waited. Wilt was so incredibly moved by all the love the Kansas fans showered him with. He later said it was the happiest day of his entire life!! Wow!! To show his appreciation, Wilt stayed afterwards for about 2.5 hours signing autographs for every single fan that wanted one. It’s estimated that he signed over 2,000 autographs after the game! When it was my turn, I told Wilt, “Welcome home, Mr. Chamberlain!” Wilt look at me and replied, “Thank you. It’s great to be home.”
The other time I met Wilt was in June of 1999 at a sports card convention in Overland Park, Kansas just 4 months before Wilt’s tragic passing in October 1999. I got his autograph on an NBA Official Game Ball. Wilt was so nice to everyone. He even let me get a picture with him for free! I got behind the autograph table, knelt down, and put my arm around Wilt’s shoulder. Btw, his hands were HUGE. I didn’t bring a camera to the event (stupid), but the woman behind me had hers. She heard me regretting to my friend that we hadn’t brought a camera, so without even asking her, she offered to take the picture and send it to me after her film was developed. She was from St. Louis. I was worried she might forget, but after a couple of weeks I got the picture in the mail!! What a nice woman. Wilt was so friendly and polite to everyone, and he seemed to be very happy to meet his fans…unlike some celebrities. Those were two great experiences.

MJ scored 50+ points 31 times for career, Kobe did it 25 times. Wilt did it 45 times in a single season.
Nobody except Wilt Chamberlain ever recorded a 30-20 avg season - Wilt did it for career.
Wilt scored 40 pts average for 6 consecutive seasons (515 games). Next in list is Elgin Baylor with 33 games.
Wilt has more 30-30 games than the whole rest of the league combined.
Wilt also has more 60 points games than the whole rest of the league combined.
Wilt blocked 23 shots in a single game on full video footage (1968 xmas day game vs Suns).
He grabbed 55 rebounds in a single game w/o overtime vs the #2 all time leader in rebounding, Bill Russell (Wilt is rank #1).
He scored 62 points in a single game w/o overtime on the argueable best defender of all times, Bill Russell.
No doubt he is the GOAT.
Imagine averaging 50-25 for a season and don't getting the MVP trophy. Happened to Wilt 1962 - they gave it to Bill Russell (19-23). Nobody roots for Goliath. NBA did and does his best to make us forget about the greatness of Wilt Norman Chamberlain.

See the dudes Wilt is playing against? Average players today at your local YMCA would beat most of those guys they’re barely 6 foot, non athletic, don’t have much skill and are extremely uncoordinated. Wilt is still amazing, I’m not denying that. He would be great in any era but he doesn’t average more than 30-35 ppg in today’s NBA even in his prime.

    • @spaltersar
      @spaltersar 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kissmyvansdude It's quite simple:
Embiid averaged 33.1 ppg playing 34.6 mpg avg last season (MVP), and is averaging 35.3 ppg playing 34 mpg avg for the actual season. Wilt was able to play 48 min per game in his prime (45.8 mpg avg for career, never fouled out) at full throttle on even higher pace than today. Do the math.
I can't understand why people think he wouldn't dominate games today while watching Giannis and Embiid already doing it. Wilt was superior to both of them in any physical aspect. Don't confuse evolution of the game with talent and Basketball IQ. Wilt would adapt to todays game like he adapted to any sport he competed in at high level (volleyball, track&field, etc.). You act like they had the brain capacity of neandertalers back in the 60s.
Prime Wilt scored 48 pts (62 max) or more pts on Bill Russell (argueable the greatest defender of all times) and the 1962 Celtics (7 HoF players) 5 times in a single season. He also grabbed 55 rebounds vs Bill Russell (#2 all time rebounder) in a single game w/o overtime 1967. If you consider this as weak competition I can't help. A year 2000 born Wilt Norman Chamberlain benefitting from improved gear (esp. court, shoes, board and hoop), medical care, nutrution, training facilities and methods, information technology, transport, etc. would DESTROY todays league. He was a true athlete up there with Bo Jackson and Jim Thorpe.
btw: From 1973-2019 players were measured with shoes. Wilt and his competition were measured barefoot. Difference in average height of starting centers 1963 compared to 2021 is less than a half inch. Difference in average height of all starting players 1963 compared to 2021 is also less than a half inch.
      Some players Wilt faced:
      HoF centers:
      Nate Thurmond (6'11", 235 lbs.)
      Walt(er) Bellamy (6'11", 225 lbs.)
      Bob Lanier (6'11", 265 lbs.)
Lew Alcindor aka Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (7'2", 225 lbs.)
      Bob Pettit (6'9", 220 lbs.)
      Zelmo Beaty (6'9", 230 lbs.)
      Bill Russel (6'10", 215 lbs.)
      Elvin Hayes (6'9", 235 lbs.)
      Wes Unseld (6'7", 245 lbs.)
      Jerry Lucas (6'8", 230 lbs)
      Willis Reed (6'10", 235 lbls).
      6'11" or taller:
      Ray Felix 6'11"
      Chuck Share 6'11"
      Walter Dukes 7'0"
      Swede Halbrook 7'3"
      Reggie Harding 7'0"
      Mel Counts 7'0"
      Walt Wesley 6'11"
      Hank Finkel 7'0"
      Craig Spitzer 7'0"
      Craig Raymond 6'11"
      Otto Moore 6'11"
      Rich Niemann 7'0"
      Tom Boerwinkle 7'0"
      Dave Newmark 7'0"
      Greg Fillmore 7'1"
      George Johnson 6'11"
      Elmore Smith 7'0"
      Tom Payne 7'2"
      Vic Bartolome 7'0"
      Jim McDaniels 6'11"
      William Smith 7'0"
      George Johnson 6'11"*
      LaRue Martin 6'11"
Except Kareem no player in NBA history had to face more HoF players on his position than Wilt did, nobody faced more per game (8 up to 10 teams for the majority of his career). 35 of 90s starters wouldn't even get a bench spot in 60s NBA, because of only 8 (up to 10) teams.
      *yes, another George Johnson, 6'11"

Never foul out? And he did this for 14 seasons. If he had competed as many years as some did like 20 years he would have put them well out of reach. "SEMITISM", according to Webster's and ALL of the other dictionaries, means you "Practice or believe in SHOWING JEWS FAVOR”... "SEMITIC" refers to ALL of the people of the area, Palestinians, Syrians and yes, isralies too... THEREFORE, "antisemitism" and "antisemitic" mean two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT things... I LOVE Palestinian people, I do NOT believe in showing ANYONE "favor", ESPECIALLY anyone that believe they are BORN SUPERIOR to ME... that I and everyone else is "just Goyim"... That is the MOST SUPREMACIST set of beliefs in the world and I'm ALLOWED to THINK that way and CHOOSE to NOT support it!! The one thing I do KNOW, I've been BEGGING for someone of that "faith"/NATIONAL IDENTITY to come TALK to me and EXPLAIN to me what I'm "WRONG about", EXPLAIN to me WHY we give israel (a "FIRST WORLD" country) 3.8 BILLION DOLLARS a year INSTEAD of using it to fund ANTI-PEDOPHILE groups or Veterans groups or Women's Rights groups or a PLETHORA of other BETTER causes, EXPLAIN to me ANY of the stuff that is supposedly "non-existent" and EXPLAIN what other reasons people feel the way they do about israel? I am a PERSON OF COLOR, my grandfather was a CONCENTRATION CAMP SURVIVOR, so you CAN'T just write me off as "some dumb skinhead", yet I NEVER have ANYBODY that believes my OPINION WORTHY enough to come TRY to "adjust" it. I'm just supposed to believe a bunch of stuff that DOESN'T MAKE SENSE (well, OTHER than "conspiracy") because it makes people uncomfortable talking about it.. AND/OR, I'm RIGHT and people don't LIKE that... I'm open to being wrong, but again, I'm just not worthy enough, apparently... Just look at all of the responses I will get on THIS comment.. anybody who ASKS QUESTIONS or points out the INCREDIBLE HYPOCRISY and OBVIOUS APARTHEID going on, like Ben & Jerry's saying they no longer want to sell in ILLEGALLY OCCUPIED TERRITORIES (STILL selling IN israel though), gets INSTANTLY labeled as someone who "hates jews", when Ben & Jerry's is a JEWISH COMPANY.. how does that work??? How is it that retirement funds for average people are being threatened over this? How come nobody's really talking about it? Again, I'd LOVE to be WRONG, I'd LOVE for SOMEBODY to just come EXPLAIN it to me ANY of this, but NOBODY ever seems WILLING, because APPARENTLY I'M just beneath YOU.. am I WRONG?

from 1973-2019 players were measured with shoes. Wilt and his competition were measured barefoot. Difference in average height of starting centers 1962 compared to 2021 is less than a half inch. No player faced more HoF players (per game average) on his position than Wilt did. You have to remember there were only 8 teams, and at least 3 of them had a 7 foot center and many good centers were 6'11" like Walt Bellamy or Nate Thurmond - without shoes. They all would been 7footers in 90s NBA.

Wilt had weaknesses. He was a 50% freethrow shooter, but so was Shaq and Russell. His ego may have been his biggest weakness. However to say he would beat Jordan 1 on 1 is a bit of a stretch. Yes if he gets to the basket he is unstoppable, but he has to get there. As athletic as he is Jordan will just shoot 10 footers until Wilt has to come out to defend then Jordan flies by to a dunk or acrobatic layup. I am sure if he played now he would be a better freethrow shooter and even three point shooter, but we will never know. However, I put Wilt ahead of Lebronand many others if not all others.

Yes Jordan was faster but not by a whole lot. 40 yard dash numbers for Jordan 4.38 hand timed. Wilts was 4.4 hand timed. That's not much of an advantage especially when adjusting for Wilts length. Jordan might have gotten one dunk and that's when Wilt would have told him not to try that again. So it would have been a struggle for Jordan to have scored and we know Wilt would have easily scored on Jordan. Maybe Jordan could beat him but just based on recorded data it would appear less likely. Which isn't to take away from jordan. We just don't see humans that big and with his athleticism or stamina.
