Dr. Baines is such a GOAT the hobby owes so much to her. I still be waiting for arcadias all in one 😝

Yes, it’s probably something I should have been doing for years! I finally have time to start making clips, so I’m glad it prompted you to check out the original episode 😀

That's interesting, I use a combo of Arcadia luminize LED and UVB alongside a ceramic bulb from mid fall to mid spring (+ a large heat mat all year long) for my boa and in the warmer months I use a 50 watts incandescent bulb. He rarely basks and when he does it is only under the incandescent bulb.

This was a phenomenal video! She did a great job of explaining the benefits of each type of light. It makes a lot more sense now why a combo of halogen, DHP, UVB and LED all together is so effective!

I was wondering the same thing. I was stressing about wether to put all the lights separate but then I saw this and another video saying basically the sun has all those factors together so put them as close as you can and let the reptile choose where it wants to be.

I'm a big fan of temperate species, especially European species. This way I can keep them in outdoor enclosures. I think if you have the conditions that allow for this, you should give it a go. For example I've noticed with my Eyed Lizards, the colours you get on them outside is so much brighter than any you see kept indoors.

Yeah, I think that’s an awesome idea! It’s hard to beat a well set up out outdoor enclosure

Agreed. Every Mediterranean species can be kept outside here in California.

What do you think of Adam Wickens latest video on this? He makes some fair attempt to be reasonable but those "Farce" stamps seem like the thing that gets views and likes, and may override the potential for being open to science and subtle behavior changes by some keepers? Or new keepers? What do you think? I know he's been on your show before and perhaps he would like to be a guest again. I thought you two had a good discussion in the past.

If you do not understand the importance of this information and can’t afford to get the correct lighting for your reptiles when you are getting them… you shouldn’t get one at all.
