There is one interesting border in my country that is bit of a curiosity. It is the Franco-Spanish border separating the French and Spanish Basque Country. The border is the Rio Bidasoa river. It's not very complex but it has one particularity. There is an island there that switches sovereignty every 6 months. That's right! For 6 months of the year it's French and for the other 6 months it's Spanish. So from the 1st of August to the 31st of January it's French territory and from the 1st of February to the 31st of July it's Spanish. It means that every six months, the official borders of my country, France, and those of our Spanish friends to the south, change. The island in question is the "Ile des Faisans" or "Isla de los Faisanes" (Pheasant Island). The arrangement is known as a "condominium" and it is the only such example in the world.

WonderWhy On 13 April 2015. Liberland was formed by claiming the unclaimed land on the western bank of the Danube river between Croatia and Serbia. They must have got this idea from you. Looking forward to the next video.
***** If you check the video on 7.30, you will see that according to the internationally accepted maps, Liberland should be under Serbia. However, since none of the countries are claiming it, the residents decided to declare independence.
***** Liberland is de facto part of Serbia but Serbia has not claimed it. Claiming it would mean that they (Serbia) support the original boarder line that followed the previous path of the Danube river. Claiming independence and international recorgnition are two very different things. Lets wait and see how this plays out. WonderWhy
***** It's not really a question of the residents claiming independence. It had no residents. Some Czech guy decided he wanted to start a new libertarian state in this unclaimed piece of land, and did so... by claiming it on facebook? Well, there was a flag raised, but as far as I'm aware, a month later there's still no one actually living there.
***** Under the Croatian interpretation of the Danube River border, Liberland belongs to Serbia. Under the Serbian interpretation of the Danube River border, Liberland belongs to Croatia. So both are saying "Not mine!" Additionally, Croatia has been enforcing the border into Liberland, meaning it does not claim the lands between the Liberland border and the Danube river. It is adhering to its claim. Serbia has also recognized Liberland as not conflicting with its own territorial claims along the Danube.

kasmiris wanted to be a part of pakistan why india occupied it just because its maharaja (only one man) wanted to be with india. Now tell me, did not that fucking maharaja act against the people of kashmir who wanted to be with pakistan. And pakistan was created for muslims so that all muslims and their lands can be a part of pakistan. It means kashmir is a part of pakistan. because about 96.4% of its population is muslim. so why you have occupied our muslim brothers land?. There is no logic in claiming of kashmir by indians.
What's with the Croatia and Serbia's border and the 4 'unwanted lands' ? It wouldn't surprise me that another country claims for those lands making another interesting enclave (or exclave?) situation.

China is mad because NATO did bomb the Chinese embassy in Belgrade which caused 3 deaths and multiple injuries in 1999. The western claimed it was an accident but most of the Chinese didn't buy into that bullshit.
one thing to add, Pakistan-Bangladesh war in 1971 actually went on for 9 months! Bangladesh declared itself as a separate nation at 26th March 1971 after Pakistan attacked Bangladesh on the night of 25th March but actually won the war at 16th December after 9 months!
8 months of genocide + 1 month of war
I thought Palestine & Israel borders were the most complex.... I might be wrong or OP is trying to avoid a comment war.
if he did then there would be a flame war bloodier then the actual conflict
Palestine is not a country :(

at 4:48 the map is missing out poor Sikkim ^^
He covers Sikkim in another video: something about countries that no longer exist.
But I've a little question... What is legally the nationality of the peoples that live into contested territories ?
Lets be honest everyone came for the thumb nail 😂
it means hyderabad has majority of hindu population but ruler wanted to join pakistan but indian army invaded and he surrunder similarly kashmir has majority of muslim population and wanted to join pakistan but ruler wanted to be a part of India.
So legally kashmir belongs to Pakistan on behalf of majority of muslim population.
No j&k even does not want to live with pak or india they want to make their own country
😂😂😂😂
Who were occupied india before british govt , you mugals are the professional occupiers, you said indians are occupied hydrabad...its vry funny...
j & k belongs to us, if people want to go to pakistan , they are more than welcome to cross border
Yes. J&K is Pakistani.
Just face it. You saw the thumbnail and knew right away that shit was boutta get messy
love your videos! please continue producing them, all the best!
Jammu and Kashmir wasn't a Muslim majority state in 1947.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
The video is 9 minutes 11 seconds long. 9 minutes and 11 seconds is an amount of time. Time. Time has 4 letters. 4. There are 4 wheels on a car. Wheels. Wheels are circle. Circle. Circle is a shape. Shape. Triangle. Illuminati Confirmed.
Todd Nelson Genius! ^_^
thank you ;D
Todd Nelson Mind blown*
Todd Nelson 9/11
It's actually 9mins and 12 secs
Shouldn't there be a new video by now?
Maybe he's working on something big
I'm sorry it's been so long. I took a little time off during Christmas and New Year and at the moment I have a LOT going on in my personal life and have had very little time to work on TH-cam.
My latest video is in the works though, the audio is all recorded, it's just the video editing that needs done now, but it will still be a little while unfortunately.
Although after this next video, I should have a lot more free time and so hopefully it won't be as long until the video after that.
+WonderWhy hello, i wanted to know whats the frequency of the videos. Thanks and I love your channel!
Watching this video and thinking about our border problems and all of a sudden you actually mention Slovenian border XD Your videos are very informative. Please make more of them in the future :)
2:37 "Football pitch" is British for "soccer field."
And "British empire" is american for "failure".
This is a joke don't triggered

Thx for translating
I loved the video, your accent is gorgeous...
ummm what
5:16 that isn't completely accurate...

7:58 I always go to this point every year a few times because my grandparents live there and it is fun to switch borders without the border checks all the time
Isnt there s road connected to the Turkey and Azerbaijan's west enclave? spillting iran and Armenia by like a few metres?
yes turkey have 15 km border with azerbaijans Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic
Oh ok thanks very much
You welcome :)
Being Armenian a river is the border between the 3 countries being Southern borders for Both Armenia and Azerbaijan - so yes - there is a connection between Turkey and Nakhchivan but non to the Mainland of Azerbaijan!
Thank you!
The Armenians are not in a good place!
The Turks and Azerbaijans has bad relationship with Armenia and Iran doesnt like anyone! And russia isnt that far! Soo.... rrally hard to defend for Armenia!
If the former Prince of jammu Signed to become part of India, then it does belong to India.
why is this still an issue?
+Rudresh Ryan Bcz he was an overthrown dictator placed in power by the British who kicked out of Kashmir and effectively had no power.I mean does anyone.
Are you a fucking idiot? The raja was no dictator, this is just some shitty propaganda from Pakistan. What are you going to say next? The FUCKING Indus Valley Civillization was built by Muslims?
The maharaja thrown out by locals because of his brutal behavior.. That was purely a movement against maharaja nd the issue still we not still have right to to self determination the plebisit right
haha we are enjoying in pakistan as a provience of pakistan people of gilgit baltistan have pride on their ansistors as they fought war of independence against maharaja and free the occupied area
kasmiris wanted to be a part of pakistan why india occupied it just because its maharaja (only one man) wanted to be with india.
2:49 I thought you would be talking about Büsingen-am-Høchrein, a German exclave within Switzerland.
Land control brings out the worst in some people.

I'll pierce my tongue and let you know if it makes a difference. ;)
Alex Grimal Yep :D
+Julius Bernotas Its scottish. And its sorta difficult for me to understand and Im a native english speaker
What's with the Croatia and Serbia's border and the 4 'unwanted lands' ? It wouldn't surprise me that another country claims for those lands making another interesting enclave (or exclave?) situation.
2:42 That was very interesting 😀
Exclave of Uzbekistan, Enclaved by Kyrgystan, Residents of Tajikistan😁
3:52 That was even more interesting 😄
Belgium to Netherlands, Netherlands to Belgium, Belgium to Germany, Germany to Switzerland, Switzerland to Italy and Italy has two entire countries.. Uff😂😂
This series just shows how petty governments are doesn't it.
Dear Admin, i know your vids are too much informative but how am i supposed to understand when you speak half of the words inside your mouth. 😟
Just read the subtitles...
Would you describe the town of Berwick as an English exclave in Scotland? This is because its southern boundary is the River Tweed which is a Scottish river.
Every time someone says Yugoslavia i shed a tear and start singing "Hej Sloveni".

Well, to be honest, your recognition is worthless.
Agree
caelanl It isn't worthless. So long as people have worth, his recognition has the worth of one person. For every person that joins his recognition it will have greater worth, and therefore it has far greater worth than your opinion. I recognize Nagorno!

I so love geography trivia, how long did this take you to make?
No mention of Kaliningrad?
I think continental borders would be just as fun, the boundary of Central to South America is interesting and Australasia etc
You should watch Caspian Reports overview of the Kharabach conflict. It’s much more complicated than "they liked messing with enclaves".
We need English subtitles...you have the 'Sir Alex Ferguson' speech impediment...
Maybe slow the video if you can't listen well
