THIS!!!! I left my hometown because of this. When you elevate and progress in life people dont understand why you stay out of the way. They wanna say "YOU CHANGE...OH YOU ACTING BRAND NEW" yup I am. People be plotting, they want to take what you have, they don't care if you have a license, image or career to protect. You tell them don't take pics of you and post you online where you are drinking at parties and they do it anyway. Its not worth it. I left all my "hood" friends/family alone. I rather be around people who got shit to lose.

Through 3 military combat deployment, being aware of my surroundings is habit. That's not being paranoid, it's practicing personal risk management.
When something makes you feel unsafe, act on your feelings and leave. It's not worth your life.
When in a car, bus, train, plane, I have escape plans for my family and I. I drive efficiently and defensively, I sit at the back of a plane, I wear seat belts for the entire flight.
Having worked Life Flight, I stay safe and am aware of my surroundings.

What?? Truth!! I know a girl lost her RN license due to a domestic violence charge she caught going through a divorce. That was her private life ,but it ruined her career. A DUI eventually will catch up to you when you renew your license. As a nurse there are expectations that you conduct yourself in a certain manner

Some places are just not safe. We have to use our wisdom to stay safe. I'm not a big fan of visiting the city because mess always happens. I rather stay at my house in the suburbs. It is what it is..

Thank you for saying this omg. People act like you have to prove everything to everybody. Baby I’m not no kid I’m not looking for no audience. I wish more people thought like this.

for your first job don't take assited livings. these places have you on floor most of time as only nurse and you may be put in a difficult situation by yourself if someone stops breathing or has a stroke. better to start at a skilled healthcare facility or hospital where there is other staff in to help in those situations.

That is right. To learn skills and time management skill floor is good. The ratio also not bad like assisted living. Most people choose assisted living due to residents partial independence. Unless an old nurse with a back problem or a student nurse transitioning from Lpn to RN assisted living work is not good

I've been sharing that with all new LVN I encounter. Maybe if the LVN leave the assisted living, they'll clean up the headcount and the quality of care. Go to the hospital as long as the hospitals are allowing us in

I agree, Cj. I don't even show up all the time around family. I say it all the time...if you have something to lose...stay away from certain people, things and places.

I grew up in Detroit and most of my relatives are still there. My line of work also takes me to Detroit or Chicago from time to time. Hyper alertness will kick in certain situations. But I am always alert at some level.

Same but im still here as a healthcare professional servicing my community. Detroit is changing economically which has a major impact on society and the foolishness that is taking place

The story you're referencing is quite devastating. However, this is a house that was shot up. Those women lived in that home. The house was shot up. There were 2 men living there who were probably the target. And one of the kids - the 8 year old died
But, I hear what you're saying
