Believe it or not, I am 30 and I got my driving licence for the first time in my life last week just so I could rent a car and drive up to Scotland to see this.
@@scottballantyne7634 No idea yet, any recommendations? Driving in Scotland was recommended by my colleagues but they didn't give me too much info into it. However the idea got stuck in my head so much that in the past few months it got me moving to learn to drive. So right now I am open to any ideas.
You are right to be proud, I flew to Edinburgh (I'm from Ireland) took the train to Inverness, collected a rented Jaguar F-Type and spent 2 days touring in that neck of the woods. Every corner I drove around left me mesmerised. That was 7 months ago, but just the other evening I was messing about on my phone pricing a revisit :) proper driving country up there.
They should mark it as "promoted" though. This said, I'd get an i30N, if the MX-5 didn't exist or I was so reckless as to get married. I'll test drive both before finalising my purchase, still.
I went and looked at new hot hatches for 5 months. Drove golf R, GTi, cupra, renaultsport megane and fk8 type R. I ended up going with the i30n performance in the end and I absolutely love it. Its just great at everything which i found other brands lacked in some spots.
i was privelidged enough to do the NC500 in 2020 in august between the lockdowns due to COVID.... the cinematography here doesnt actually do the place justice..it was a spectacular road trip, we met amazing people, stayed in amazing places, ate some fabulous food, and someof the beaches and the blue skies and turquoise waters could rival anywhere in the world.... just a super trip.. Memories of which I shall treasure
Long time since a video of this quality has come from Evo. Evokes the simple spirit of the thrill of driving. Thanks and hope that more like this are on the way.
To be honest I don't understand why you would leave everything in normal just because of the stiff damper settings of N-mode. Some even complain that it's a hassle to customize everything. Just dial in whatever you want and keep it there, hardly any fuss. At least, I hope it remembers your custom mode settings in between trips?
@@leroy7647 yeah agreed. While firmest suspension is really firm for the road, it is perfect for track. Customising the settings in N custom mode is so quick and trivial... and it does indeed remember the settings.
@@UTubeSL Good to know. I'm beginning to crave some i30 N driving goodness, especially considering I keep hearing how rewarding it is when driven hard. Perhaps next year, when they will revise tax on car emissions in my country.

So of course, Scotland is on my list and I cannot wait to go really soon ! It's pretty far from France but as you show it so beautifully I cannot miss this place !

This made me subscribe to the channel! Absolutely fab video EVO! Well done! And of course being a Hyundai fan 'boy', it was sweeter to watch. Thank you!
I used to commute from Glasgow to Thurso every week, racking up a thousand miles a week! I always said that it was like doing twenty laps of the Nurburgring twice a week, so I'm glad to see that you guys acknowledge that!
Wow! What an awesome road trip! Makes me want to fly out to Scotland tomorrow morning; grab that fab Hyundai i30 N and just drive, drive, driive! Thanks for the adventure!!
Well as an Australian you have made me add another trip to the bucket list that ill sadly never actually get to do. So good. what a cracking little car to do it in as well.
I enjoyed this , I have to agree that the stretch from Inverness to John o groats is not great, driven it a few times When I head up there in the spring I’m going to go up to the top of the west coast and head back down the same way ! Only thing I didn’t like about this ,!is that it seems like a 10 min ad for the i30N, great camera work though , beautiful scenery
Great video to watch...I'm doing the 500 in August this year,so excited and also so keen to change my BM GC 2.0 d for something more entertaining....( and suitable to carry wife ,son, dog, tent, luggage......) but still be more fun than a 2.0d BM 4 series....
I've driven these roads on many occasions and they are truly beautiful and spectacular. However, in a quick car you can travel way, and I mean way beyond the speed limit, well into custodial territory, without really pushing the chassis or brakes to a huge degree. It's actually really frustrating. I've been there in a number of really quick cars but the most fun by a long way was attempting to keep up with a ' gently brisk' 911 whilst driving an 06 Jeep Cherokee diesel on mud tyres in the wet and a 30 mile flat out blast in a lifted Jeep Wrangler, again on knobbly's to get an Indian takeway, and the 30 mile return journey to get back to our cottage before it got cold. You have to be aware at all times of the brakes, ultimately not that powerful and ultimately not that fade resistant. You need to be aware of and manage the weight transfer with great care and you become well honed in the art of carrying your hard earned speed. They both handle beautifully at higher speeds, similar to a mk1 or 11 escort but scaled up to 2.5 tons. Fantastic fun
If you still wonder, it sounds like this one: Futurecop! - Lost Love feat. DWNTWN (Thunderclaw Remix) I love this song so I instantly felt like it was similar.
Well that spectacular. A bloody long way from Australia though. I disagree with the final comment though... I think you'd need to do the North Coast 500 twice... once to enjoy the road, and once to enjoy the scenery.
Because style is the only difference. No different to drive so if you like the look of one over the other get that. But know that the Hatch looks better anyway.
Very nice landscapes... But guys - are you financed by Hyundai? Or why do you post so many videos with Hyundai I30N etc? How about test and compare the new Ford Focus ST for example? Which kicks the i30N a**, by the way, according to several other comparisons...

An epic location for sure. From a tourist perspective, it would be great if you could actually rent a hot hatch (e.g. i30N, GTI, ST) in Inverness, or nearby. That way, you have the car, the road and an awesome experience.
Man you guys sure gave the cameramen 1 heck of an ab workout on that back & forth exchange on the bridge....JUST so we wouldn't have to see 1 camera pointed at another? And you 2 probably had to repeat your conversation several times to get it perfect. Quite extreme.
I’m pretty sure evo used to show cars being driven hard didn’t they? What is this all about, may as well be an episode of Countryfile. Don’t get me wrong, amazing scenery and great roads I’m sure, but unless you’re loading the car up in corners at least to some extent, what’s the point? Should have filmed a standard i10 on its door handles at 60, would have been a better watch.
