Really interesting how you say you wouldn't go out of your way to rewatch a lot of the episodes bc for me and a lot of other people, one of the best parts of the series is its rewatchability. When i first watched the s2 and 3 i didn't really mind most of it. But rewatching it a second time makes it so much better
I think right now at least, it's one of those shows that I'm having an absolute blast watching, and in like 2 years I could see myself rewatching. I mean moreso that I wouldn't rewatch it like I do for less story driven things, Futurama pops into my head. I could rewatch 99% of those episodes on repeat. But they're also made to be that way. Bojack is definitely unique in that you're getting a full story. But I think some of those stories, once they've been told I just don't feel the need to see it again, if that makes sense.
Diane for being a person that cuts through bullshit all the time really took a long time seeing how full of shit Sebastian was. When he told her to applaud on the phone after saying 'hold your applause' she should've hung up right then and there.
Sebastian was right though. Even if he is only doing for his ego he is providing a service those people need and caring about them is less helpful than actually doing something. Diana had a false idea of what 'helping a war torn country' actually meant. Sebastian stays in the country to help (albeit selfishly) while Diana runs away from the harsh reality of the situation.
There will definitely be a couple 5 star episodes later on (one in particular stands out immensely) but I feel like with Bojack it's going to be hard to give a lot of them 5 stars since all the jokes build on past episodes and whatnot. If the episodes weren't as connected and linear (for the most part) there'd be more room for nonsense stuff to bump the score up but since everything is connected and has consequences it's hard to make any episode individually too insane. I think the 4/5 stars are going to be the gold standard for most of Bojack and then you're gonna hit the couple of truly iconic ones later on that you'll know will stand above the rest.
Love this episode and the one before because its basically nonstop insanity and then hits you hard in the end with one, two gut punches. Also appreciate the Mr Peanutbutter gag where he just says words that are loosely associated with town for local commercials. And of course Texas got the "terrible tragedy", "so sorry". Things really dont change in that regard, do they?
Each season works kinda like a big slide, with an extra loop at the end. Lets just say your at the top of the slide so its about to go down, loved the video btw and loved how you got invested in Allan the cable guy haha 😂
I appreciate the star ratings for each episode, but I hope you also rate each season as well. The individual episodes can be hit or miss for some, but they all contribute to the overarching story for each season. It's one long narrative rather than an episodic show, y'know?
Totally understandable. I do believe for this season I gave it an overall rating. If not, I'll be sure to start including that - but I'm like 99% sure that I did!
