Almost all of my gametime is in SF2 and BS, and the thought of TOWs (or really any AT) not killing a tank with a frontal penetration is so alien to me. CMCW is such an interesting game
KaaCroy glances over the hill, seeing the shadow of the Russian man on the ground. He looks dead- Unmoving, not shooting... But something felt... Wrong. He turned to his team lead and called out a gentle explanation, but he had a bad feeling about what was going to happen next. There was a tinge in the air.. A breeze... He was in danger.
The soon-to-dies of 2/2nd lay among their dead. Private Romitas took a knee and fired at the crossing Soviet infantry to no avail. The silhouette of the BTR rolls in, its engine roaring like tiger on the hunt. Specialist "Oxide" Oxley know he has to do something before it turns into a slaughter. Loading a 40mm HEDP up his M203, he fired at the green monster. It's like fighting a tank with a pistol, a sense of despair washed all over Oxley. He sat there and waited the BTR to turn its turret and kill everyone. Yet there was no massacre, a hatch opened and crewmen soon began hopping out. Oxide certainly did his best.
Not sure if you noticed but the lead tank at the end started to traverse right to engage your "OP Hill", not the TOWs. Oh yea a reminder - There are NO Javelins here. 😉
M203s seem a little too strong at penetrating armour. Or, alternatively, crews seem too keen to abandon functioning vehicles. Also, a TC standing in the hatch of a tank that has just EATEN a TOW just standing there waiting to eat a second instead of ducking down immediately is pretty hilarious to me.
BTR armor will keep out dirty looks. HEDP will cut though it from any angle. Not a lot of post penetration performance. I’ve lost guys inside BTRs (and M113s) from shell splinters before.
Just needs a little narrative. The BTR has 3 crew - the driver, the gunner and a commander. We see one pixeltruppen get out, so two are dead or dying. Imagine the noise of the explosion, the screams, the sounds of the damage the vehicle has taken - maybe the engine is wrecked, maybe some small arms ammo is detonating. The vehicle is probably filling with smoke, maybe some small fires as material and wires catch light, the interior lights fail and the cramped interior is becoming a literal hell hole. The surviving crewman might have bits of his unfortunate colleagues, his friends, splattered all over him. It's enough to make anyone bail - I would.

In real life every company has organic TOWs according to an ORBAT I found. (OK, if the equipment is not enough 106mm recoilless gun mounted jeeps would be used instead)
@@BenKerry-q1i Sadly, some of the equipment was lost during the drop when a soviet anti-aircraft battery managed to take out one of the planes transporting materials and men, leaving the airborne slightly undergunned.
Combat mission pretty regularly portrays soviet/russian forces as having significantly inferior optics to Nato. Is there any technical documentation for this besides night vision equipment?
BTR is not designed to fight alone as an IFV, it’s enclosed turret and lack of advanced sensor equipment greatly reduces its spotting capability while driving
There's probably some somewhere, but not that I know of. You can get a pretty good idea of the relative priorities by comparing the size and number of vision blocks, how many crew there are to look out of them, then consider how overworked those crew members are and ergonomic everything is.

The column of death has arrived
Question is whether they're in distribution or recieving

Dragon is just Javelin before its woken up and had some coffee, right?
@@usuallyhapless9481 Its OK. The way you are going you'll expend them killing Infantry anyway.
T64 and 72 are damn scary in CMCW before the good tank rounds are available.

We might be screwed at the ATGM consumption rate. The enemy still have a combined arms team left while we have none

There is none. 30 minutes, absolute limit.

I don't know when BMP-2s were deployed but the scenario is set in March 1980, in case that helps.
